The sound of loud noise of cheering echoed throughout the gymnasium. Students from two different schools filled the building, banners were raised on one side and another one on the other.

There was a basketball match between seniors from Saber University and Mage University . The schools would hold a sports tournament before the school year ends. It was like a festivity before summer finally arrives.

He watched as the opponent in front of him dribbled the ball. His salmon pink hair was somewhat soaked with sweat. As the team leader and star player, he was the most worn out.

The score was tied.

His eyes were focused on the enemy before him, but then a familiar face caught his attention. His onyx orbs widened in surprise. Now he was staring at the girl seated on one of the benches.

She had long blonde hair, fairly white skin, and that same face that he thought was always perfect. The moment they made eye contact, she immediately averted her eyes. Acting like she did not see him.

"Beautiful isn't she?" the blonde guy dribbling the ball said, "She's the jewel of the school" he was smirking. He noticed that the one guarding him was distracted.

The pink-haired looked back at the opponent. The surprise on his eyes now gone.

"Are you her boyfriend?" he asked dryly.

The blonde's smirk disappeared.

"Well, no. Not yet. I'm a friend," he continued to dribble, "But that's better than being a nobody like you."

Then a smirk appeared on the other's face. A sarcastic smirk.

"Actually, I'm not just a nobody," he started, "I'm the ex."

When he said this, the blonde's face went into shock. He lost focus on the ball, letting the other snatch it away.

He was able to shoot the ball into the basket easily, well-known for being a sharp three-pointer.

Loud cheering filled the gym again.

They won.

Mage University was taking home the bacon. Again this year.

"Nice one, Natsu!" the raven-haired, Gray, shouted as he high-fived the tie-breaker.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Gajeel, another one of the teammates shouted.

The players from Mage U circled their team captain, cheering up for another victory won. Among them were his close friends.

"Hey, guess who's here," Jellal, with the red tattoo said.

"I saw her, too" Loki, the womanizer joined in.

The pink-haired, Natsu, turned to where 'she' was seated when he saw her. But she wasn't there anymore.

He let out a disappointed sigh.

"Lucy's here," Natsu said as he turned back to them, "I'm not letting her slip away this time."

She was walking out of the school.

Her shoes made light sounds as they hit the ground. Her pleated school skirt swayed as the wind went past her and the cherry blossom flowers brushed her fair skin and silky hair.

As soon as she got out of the entrance of Saber, a pair of eyes instantly bore on her brown ones.

She stopped like time itself stopped. Anyone could tell she was surprised just by the look on her eyes.

"Hey."

That voice.

No other than him and that damn husky voice.

He was waiting for her, sitting on his black motorbike. His hair was neatly gelled back and he had a burgundy V-neck shirt underneath the black leather jacket he wore.

"Natsu..."

She whispered, low enough that nobody heard.

"Bunnygirl, remember us?" another voice called out.

Her attention shifted from the one on the bike to those who were riding on a car. Jellal's mustang.

A gentle smile formed on her lips.

Of course she remembers them. Gray, Loki, Gajeel, and Jellal. Especially the one on the motorcycle who never averted his eyes from her.

"I'd never forget your faces," she answered.

"Good. We thought you were avoiding us," Jellal on the driver's seat said, chuckling.

"Of course not."

She giggled.

"Not avoiding them. But you're avoiding me," Natsu said simply.

The smile on her face instantly disappeared.

Seconds passed by as they continued to stare at each other, waiting for the other to speak. But with those overwhelming eyes of his, Lucy was always the first one to blink.

"Alright. I'm gonna go-" she started to take a step away.

As soon as she did, Natsu got off his bike and walked towards her.

Lucy was debating with herself whether to run or not, but before she could reach a decision, he was already in front of her. Less than a foot away.

He placed his hands on her face and leaned down on her. Now only the two of them could hear what he had to say.

"I don't know why the hell you broke up with me and transferred schools. But one thing I know is that we're still not over," his voice was calm.

Lucy felt her cheeks go red, she knew her eyes were wide the entire time as well.

"And I can tell by the way you look at me, you still love me," he continued, "So say it."

For every word that left his lips, she wanted to kiss him.

"Baby, know that in my heart, you're still the queen."

But she held back. She was able to endure a year of longing for him, she wasn't going to stop now. Or else those sleepless nights flooded with tears would be in vain. What she did was for his own good...that's what kept her going.

Lucy forcefully backed away from him.

"Enough. You'll only hurt yourself." Her head was downcast.

Then she walked away, eyes shut. More like run away. From him.

"You're not following her?" Gray said.

Natsu didn't respond. He just continued to watch as she distanced herself from them.

"You guys, you're from M.U. right?" a feminine voice got their attention.

It was Levy, Lucy's bestfriend. Redhead Erza was with her too.

"Yep," Gajeel answered.

"We saw you talking with Lucy. Are you friends with her?" Erza asked. Her attention was on the tattooed fellow.

"We were pretty close before she transferred," he replied.

"Oh..." the girls chorused.

"Do you know where she lives?" Natsu was straightforward.

"We stay at the same dormitory." Levy answered, smiling brightly.

"Are there men inside as well?"

"N-no. All girls," she answered again, noticing the faint trace of possessiveness in his voice.

"It's a five-minute walk from here. Three guards with shifts. Security cameras on the staircases. Totally safe." Erza added.

The boys in the car knew what Natsu was already thinking. But they decided not to interfere.

Either way, if he made up his mind on something, nobody will be able to stop him from doing it. Especially when it was all about her.
