What's a Demon Summoning Among Friends

Peter wasn't sure how he got here. All he knew was that now he sat in a circle with his fellow debate team members and was about to summon a demon with a ritual that Flash had found on Wikipedia. "Uhh, guys- " Peter frantically waved his hands in the air "- I don't think this is a good idea."

Boos echoed around the circle as his fellow teens continued setting up the googled entry. MJ just shrugged at Peter and mumbled something about needing all the good luck and leverage for tomorrow's meet against their long term rivals.

Flash continued drawing the pentagram on the ground in a salt shaker someone had stolen from the diner they ate dinner at, with a snake-like hieroglyph in the centre. Now, Peter wasn't an expert in summoning demons per se, but he was quite sure there wasn't supposed to be a snake in the salt crafted pentagram. But, out of fear of being booed again, and just not finding it in himself to care, he stayed quiet and let his classmates continue to work.

It wasn't like it was going to work anyways.

Peter should've known better- those were famous last words.

A blast of green light lit up the hotel room and Ned let out a shout of fear as a figure stood in the centre clad in green and gold leather. Loki.

The name hit him like a lightning strike, there in the centre of the circle, stood Loki of Asgard, God of Mischief. Of course, no one else seemed to recognize him. It had been years and years since he attacked New York, many of his classmates had been too young, so young that they can barely recall the event now. But Peter knew him from the tower and the time's Thor brought him in to say hello to the Avengers. It was more of a warning to Loki to behave if anything, but during his time there, Peter and Loki actually became a sort of friends. Or at least, as close to friends as you can get with a trickster god.

Loki simply met Peter's eyes and a hint of recognition flashed through them as a smirk fell upon his face. He quickly took in the room and understanding dawned on his face. He was going to have fun with this, playing a demon was a new role he had yet to attempt, and it sounded like fun.

His booming voice echoed off the walls, "You've summoned me?" His golden horns adorning his head glimmered under the lights as he watched the teens all sitting in front of him.

Flash was the first to talk, "Holy shit it worked!?" The others burst into an uneasy and excited chatter as the wide-eyed teens stared at the cunningly mischievous god.

Loki tilted his head in slight acknowledgement in what Flash had said and looked at the teens, his hands in his pockets, a picture of casual indifference. "Are we going to make a deal?"

Peter suddenly had a really bad feeling about this. Loki stepped forward and was about to step outside the circle when Peter theatrically yelped, "Back foul demon! We have trapped you in a circle of salt, you can't get out." Peter was so obviously giving Loki a hint, that he was surprised only MJ seemed to have caught on. MJ didn't quite know what was going on, but one thing was for sure: the thing in the circle was not a demon, and Peter knew him.

Loki, playing the part shouted, "Ahh shucks, you have spoiled my plan!" Then he quickly winked at Peter before turning his eyes to the rest of his classmates. "What is it you all seek? Wealth? Power?"

"To help us win tomorrow's debate meet," Flash declared shamelessly.

Now on her feet, Betty swayed from side to side, "Guys I don't think this is such a good idea."

Peter was inclined to agree but found he didn't speak up. Loki simply grinned like the Chesire cat at the idea. "I can't guarantee a win, but there's one thing I can do." The teens all leaned closer as Loki hooked them in for his answer, "bring chaos. So much chaos that the other team will be thrown off foot and for a loop."

Hastily, Peter piped up, "But if you do this no one can be hurt!" Loki almost pouted at Peter for the limitation, but out of fear of him bringing in his brother or Tony Stark, Loki kept quiet. "And-" Peter looked Loki in the eyes and his friend gave him a questioning glance "- I would like to know the price of this deal and if we deem it too steep of a price, this whole arrangement is off."

MJ nodded, seemingly unaffected by this whole scenario, whilst Ned was on the other side of the circle on his back, having fainted at the excitement of it all.

Loki raised an eyebrow in amusement and shook hands with Peter, "It's a deal then, Peter."

The rest of the night was a blur, the only thing that really stood out to Peter was the price Loki had asked for. It was freshly baked bread and pastries, as simple as that. After the teens all snuck out of the hotel from the sleeping eyes of their teachers, they bought Loki the freshest baked goods they could find at this time of night. Then, they all went back to the hotel and crashed.

It was only Peter, MJ, Ned (who had awoken from his fainting spell), and Loki who sat awake in Peter's room. "Baked goods? Really?" Peter admonished.

Loki, who's headpiece and leather garments had been magically swapped for an all-black suit, just sat back munching on said goods. "What can I say? There's nothing quite like them back on Asgard."

MJ and Ned blanched. Peter just huffed, "MJ, Ned, meet Loki. God of Mischief. I actually have no idea what he's doing here-"

"Answering your summons of course."

"- only that he'll behave... Probably."

With a shit-eating grin, Loki bit into a cannoli and hummed his praise. "Tomorrow will be much fun, I haven't caused chaos in a while with Thor and Stark breathing down my back."

Peter huffed, "Mr Loki, please don't hurt anyone." His resigned and tired eyes stared at the god.

Loki's amusement quietened and he gave a sincere look, "I won't, Peter. Just some harmless mischief to help your team stay in the lead, as per the deal. And a word of this will not even make its way back to your Boss. All will go well."

Eyes on the ceiling, Peter huffed in exasperation. He had a feeling that everything will not, in fact, go 'well.'
