Arielle's POV:
Knock, Knock.
I waited a few seconds and no one answered the door so I knocked again.
I heard shuffling, and then the door flew open.
"What the fu-" Juliette paused and saw that it was me and said "Oh hey Arielle, what are you here for?"
"Hi ... I was looking for Jaylin, is she in here?" I asked her.
"Jaylin... no she hasn't been here for two days. Did you need her for something?" She asked.
"Uh... yeah. I wanted to ask her a question but..." I trailed off.
"I'm shocked you don't know where she is. You guys are practically attached at the hip."
So Jaylin hasn't told her family what happened... I guess that makes sense, then she would have to come out to her mom and such.
"Yea I know," I let out a strained laugh.
I was about to bid her goodbye until a thought popped into my head.
"Hey Juliette, is your mom home by any chance?" I asked her.
She looked confused, probably because I was trying to talk to her mom. "Yea she's in the kitchen right now. Wanna come inside?" She asked, opening the door a little wider for me to come in.
"Thanks." I nodded my head at Juliette and slide through the entrance to the house. I made a bee line to the kitchen and saw Jaylin's mother in there reading a book.
"Hello Ms. Murphy." I said trying to catch her attention.
She looked startled for a second but then she took her attention away from the book and on me. And her face immediately lit up when she realized it was me.
"Oh Arielle, how are you!" She said gripping me in a death hug.
"I'm good Ms. Murphy but... could you... let go?" I said struggling to get the words out.
"Oh I'm sorry, I'm just happy you're here, you rarely visit, you should start doing it more." She said letting go of me.
"I know I know. Well there is a specific reason that I'm here." I said to her.
She looked at me and said "Of course, what is it?"
"Well I have a lot of questions that I need answered and I was hoping that you would be able to do so...?" I asked, hoping that she said yes.
"Of course anything for you Arielle," she motioned to the table and said, "please sit down and I'll be happy to answer all of your questions."
I obliged and sat in a chair and the table, and she sat in the one across from me. "So, what are your questions Arielle, you seem pretty serious." She said.
"Yea well... I'm dating Jennifer as you may or may not know." I said.
"I did not know, congratulations to the both of you."
"Thanks, but anyways, yesterday I got a text message from an unknown number telling me to meet them at a local Starbucks, and the person texting me turned out to be Daniella, your cousin." I finished.
As soon as I said Daniella's name a grim look appeared on Ms.Murphy's face.
When I saw that she was not going to talk I continued , "And she told me that her last name is Moore and so is Jennifer's, but Jennifer introduced herself to me and I'm pretty sure she introduces herself to everyone as Murphy, so I'm a bit confused about that. She also made it seem like their parents were a pretty big deal which Jennifer has never told me about."
Jaylin's mother let out a sigh and said "I can see why you are very confused. I really do not believe that it is my story to tell but since Daniella is going to you directly and I'm assuming making threats, I think it's best that you know,"
"Thank you very much Ms.Murphy." I said.
She nodded and said "So I guess I'll start with Daniella. She is telling the truth, she is a Moore and Jennifer's last name is also Moore. My sister married into the Moore family and that came with a lot of wealth. My sister, Kayla, tried to pull me into that lifestyle too, but when she married I was pregnant with Juliette at the time, and her family wanted me to give up the baby, along with Juliette and Jaylin's father. A teenage pregnancy with a deadbeat would surely put a stain on the Moore name. But I refused and so...they cut me out of the picture."
"Ms.Murphy I'm so sorry."
She shook her head and said "It's fine, if I could go back I still wouldn't change my decision. But back to easing your confusion. So Jennifer's parents, my sister and her husband, were very controlling, of both Jennifer,Daniella, and Avery. Daniella had no issue being controlled by her parents, and even though Layla didn't like being controlled see still followed some orders, but with Jennifer, she always wanted the freedom to be her own person. And after what they did to Steffanie, Jennifer decided that she wanted to severe all ties with her parents and the Moore family name and so, she started going by her mother's maiden name, Murphy."
It was silent for a few seconds, I was still trying to grasp the information that I was told."Wow... thank you so much Ms.Murphy for your help." I said. to her.
"You're welcome sweetie, have you told Jennifer about this yet?" Ms. Murphy asked.
"No, I just finished meeting with Daniela and I headed straight here."I answered.
"Is there any reason why you came to me with these questions and not Jennifer?"She asked again?
"Well... I really wanted to see if Jaylin had been here and since I was already here I decided that I should just ask you. It was like a killing two birds with one stone sort of thing." I responded.
"You wanted to see if Jaylin was here? I'm sorry but I thought she was with you?" Ms.Murphy asked confused.
"No, she isn't, and if she isn't here the only other place she is is at one of our friend's house and I know exactly which one so do not worry Ms.Murphy Jaylin is safe." I assured her.
"Well I trust Jaylin and know that she wouldn't do anything to put herself in danger, so don't worry I do believe that she is at a friend's house. I'm just confused at to why she isn't staying with you? I mean, your house is usually a go-to when she isn't in this one." Ms.Murphy said.
"Yea... Jaylin and I aren't on the best of terms as of late." I said.
"Really? Why?" She asked.
"It's a long story, Jaylin will tell her when she's ready." I answered.
"Oh, okay that's no problem. Did you have any other questions for me?"
"No, I think that's it thank you so much Ms.Murphy." I said standing up from my chair.
"Oh you know it's no problem Arielle." She said also standing up from her chair.
"Well I'm gonna get going." I said
"Let me walk you out." She said, ushering me to the door.
When we arrived at the door I turned to her and said "I know I've said this like a million times but thank you again, you've helped me very much." I said wrapping her in a hug.
"It's no issue," she said returning the hug, "just make sure that you visit soon."
"Okay I will thank you." I said walking out the door.
When I was half way to my car I heard Ms.Murphy shout, "Oh and Arielle?"
"I turned around and faced her, "Yes?"
"I believe that whatever you and Jaylin are going through you guys will work it out, you guys always do." She said.
I smiled and her and nodded and turned around and got in my car. When she closed the door to her house I sighed.
"I'm not sure that we can."
