☁︎︎ Third POV

How long has it been since Y/n fell asleep? A month? Two months? Four? Well, it was long enough for Tanjiro, Uzui and the others to recover fully, and even then that was way too long for anyone. This definitely wasn't a good sign.

As the days past by, everyone had visited Y/n at least once during his recovery. Depending on the person, they would talk to Y/n about their day, or just stayed with him, sometimes they would even take a nap waiting for Y/n to wake up. But he never did wake up during this time.

Y/n laid still through every visit, not moving other than breathing softly. His skin was now permanently pale because of the amount of blood he had lost. His eye bags didn't seem to be going away either despite the amount of sleep he's been getting. He almost looked dead.

Y/n scars did heal faster than the normal slayers in Shinobu's care, but that didn't take away the fact that Y/n could have internal bleeding and damages. Feint scar marks did linger around Y/n's body, ones that, when Uzui visited, were traced softly with his finger tips.

But no matter how well or how fast Y/n was recovering, he just never woken up, he didn't even flinch in his sleep. He laid on the hospital bed and nothing else. He was just still with no expression other than calmness on his face. It was almost unsettling.

✧︎ ☁︎︎ ✧

Out of everyone, Shinobu would have it the worse. She had to see Y/n almost everyday to check up on him. Whenever she's out on missions, she couldn't help but over worry that something might happen to Y/n while she wasn't there. Her anxiety was always higher than what it was before.

Shinobu didn't want to lose another person she loves. She already lost her parents, she lost her sister, and she lost the multiple other girls that worked under. She have seen enough death, she was going to prevent this one.

At the time, Shinobu couldn't save her parents, nor her sister, nor the girls that worked under her, but she's going to save Y/n, even if it's the last thing she does. Y/n was special to her, he made her feel loved, he made her feel cared for by some else. It was nice.

Y/n was always there for everyone, but he was especially there for Shinobu. He stayed at her estate, he never asked for much like other slayers and he helped around a lot too. Whether it would be with poison making, or with medical care, Y/n always helped Shinobu out.

Shinobu cared for Y/n, she loves Y/n. She loves the little moments that she had with Y/n. She loves Y/n's little laughs, she loves it when Y/n tried to make her smile genuinely - which always works. She couldn't think of a life without Y/n.

Shinobu wanted Y/n to always be by her side, whether that would be of a friend, a partner, or a lover, Shinobu didn't mind. As long as Y/n was there with her, she was happy. She felt happy with Y/n, and it wasn't a mask to cover up her anger anymore.

✧︎ ☁︎︎ ✧

Sabito faded into visibility as he stood by Y/n's bed where he was currently sleeping. Sabito - although is visible - still had faded parts of his body, almost like he was withering away into snow.

Sabito couldn't help but feel tears prick his eyes. He softly held onto Y/n's hand as he sat on the bed. His breathe stuttered as he tried to keep his sobs to himself.

Y/n was the first human in a while to show Sabito what it was like to love something - or someone in this case. He showed Sabito that not everything in life was a terrible as it seemed. Because if the world was really horrible, then Y/n wouldn't be here.

"I'm sorry Y/n," Sabito whispered as he put his fore head on the back of Y/n's hand, "I-I wasn't able to protect you. I was-wasn't able to help you. I'm so so sorry. If I had been stronger, if I had been human, I would've saved you from this terrible fate. I'm sorry..."

Sabito cried, his ghostly tears hit Y/n's cold arms. Y/n was cold, even colder than Sabito himself, and he was a spirit. Sabito knew why this was.

Although spirits gives the host enhanced abilities, they also make the host colder and colder as time moved on. The host will continue to get colder until they will get hyperthermia and die slowly because of the artic-like coldness. The coldness usually only effects the host's core, but once it cools the skin, it was the spirits' time to go.

Sabito didn't want to leave Y/n yet, he wanted to stay by his side, care for him, be his partner to the end, no matter what. But fate had other plans. Although Sabito wants to stay with Y/n, he didn't want to see Y/n suffer the coldness anymore.

Sabito placed his forehead onto Y/n as he closed his eyes, "I'm so sorry... Y/n... my dear..." He muttered out, "I love you, I love you so mush. I'll see you on the other side."

Sabito softly kissed Y/n's almost-blue lips. It was nothing much, it was almost a peck. A tear rolled off of Sabito's cheek. He expected Y/n to not kiss back, but it still hurt him anyways. He slightly tightened his hold on Y/n's hand.

Sabito could feel himself wither away from sight, but he kept his lips on Y/n's, leaving them there until he was fully gone. His hand was the last thing that was left before it was withered away with the rest of him.

Y/n unconsciously let out a small sigh as a little bit of color returned to his skin. The blue on his lips lightened a bit. However, his body shivered a bit as he kept sleeping, soundlessly and now motionlessly, like nothing had happened.

✧︎ ☁︎︎ ✧

It was late at night, it was cold, almost freezing to Y/n's body. His body shook slightly as his brows furrowed in discomfort. He still slept though, not making a sign that he will be waking up any time soon.

A moment later, Yoriichi faded into visibility. Half of his body was already withering away, as his face seemed to be more saddened than usual. Yoriichi couldn't help but feel depressed about what he was about to do.

Yoriichi had been with Y/n since the very beginning of his journey. He helped Y/n through every panic attack, every suicidal episode, every small smiled moment, every self doubt, everything. And yet here he is, leaving Y/n when he knew that this is the time he needed him most.

Y/n shivered as his lips were starting to turn white again from the coldness of Yoriichi's spirit. He still slept, not even opening his eyes to see what was the cause of his sudden chill.

Yoriichi went on his knees as he rested his head next to Y/n's. He couldn't help but stare at Y/n for a moment longer, wanting to embed Y/n's looks into his head so that when he sees Y/n again he wouldn't ever forget him.

"Y/n, my heart, my soul," Yoriichi breathed out, "I've seen you through your darkest of days, through your terror of nights. I've been there for you since the very beginning, guiding you every way. I wish I could continue to do that, my Y/n.

"I wish I could hold you like a human, give you warmth like a human, kiss you like a human, I wish every night that I could just be human for you, and only you. I wish you knew that I love you, I wish you knew everything I felt for you. I wish, I wish, but it never came true."

Yoriichi let out a breathless chuckle as tears flowed out of his eyes, "I wish I could stay with you, Y/n. I want to be with you, to be your partner, to be your lover, nothing less. But I can't, at least not in this life time.

"My dear Y/n, you are my heart, you are my soul, you are my will to live on, I wish you knew that. But I'm afraid this is goodbye. Thank you, thank you so much Y/n for being you and letting me fall in love with you."

"When we get reincarnated," Yoriichi whispered as he hovered his lips over Y/n's, "I'll make sure I will love you."

Yoriichi pressed his lips softly on Y/n's. A simple and soft kiss, nothing more, nothing less. He didn't dare to pull away as he clutched the bed sheet, feeling himself wither away into the afterlife.

Within a few seconds, Yoriichi disappeared. A tear being left being on Y/n's cheek, the only thing human of Yoriichi that was left behind. The tear brought a small warmth to Y/n, let the warmth take over his body.

White lips turned back to a (red/pink/normal) color as his skin turned back to it's normal tone, granted it was still a bit paler than before, but Y/n looked much more healthier than he was a few minutes ago.

Y/n let out a deep sigh as he untensed his figure. He felt warm, he felt cozy, but he somehow felt more alone than before. However, he didn't brother waking up because of it. He slept soundlessly, breathing softly.

✧︎ ☁︎︎ ✧

As dusk was shown through the windows of the hospital room, visitors were starting to leave one by one. Short and tall, they all left Y/n's hospital room, leaving him space so that he could sleep longer.

The chatter and footsteps died down, fading into silence. The small chirping of birds getting ready to sleep were the only sound heard.

"Mmm..." Y/n mumbled as he turned to his side, for the first time in a while.

Y/n's brows furrowed as he slowly opened his eyes, (e/c) being shown for the first time in months. He's awake, and no one was there to see it happen.

Y/n slowly and carefully pushed himself into a sitting position on the bed. He rubbed his eyes as he looked around, taking in the location he was at. He was a bit confuse but was too tired to care.

One thing that did stood out to Y/n was how incredibly weak he felt. Lifting himself into a seating position was hard, even breathing was a bit harder than what it used to be. He looked down on his arms and noticed that it was all bandaged up. He stared blankly at them, sleepily.

Y/n let out a small hum in question as he looked up mindlessly, "Yoriichi...? Sa... bito?" He muttered out.

Y/n called out for his spirits, but neither of them responded, neither in his head or making them visible to him. He gently touched the back of his neck feeling his core temperature. He was warm, for the first time in years.

Y/n furrowed his brows, "Yoriichi, Sabito?" He questioned again, but - again - no answer.

Y/n eyes slightly lowered, "They're gone..."

The room would've been silent if it weren't for Y/n's heartbeat picking up it's pace. Y/n eye's turned wide with horror as he could feel another presence beside him. He glanced at the person beside him, but could only make out a black suit with gold lining. He knew who this 'person' was.

"My dear empress," Muzan cooed as he put his hand under Y/n's chin and made him look at his red eyes, "Looking down is no way a royalty should be. Look up, look up at me, your partner."

Y/n's eyes were shaking in fear, "M-Muzan..." He stuttered.

Muzan gave a pointed smile, "Hello Y/n."

Muzan threw the blanket that was coving Y/n off of him. Y/n yelped as he tried to crawl away but his legs were too weak at the moment to even move correctly. Muzan smirked at the incompetence of Y/n. He pulled Y/n back towards him and started to carry him bridal style.

"LET ME GO!!" Y/n shouted as loud as he could, "LEAVE ME ALONE!! LET GO!!"

"Sorry my dear, but I can't do that," Muzan stated as he fixed his fedora, "This is the only time I can have to take you, and I'm not wasting my chances."

SMACK!

A red hand print was on Muzan's cheek, his eyes were wide with how much force that was put in. Y/n had smacked him, with all the strength he had had in him. He panted slightly since all of his strength was practically keeping him awake.

"Wow," Muzan breathed out, "That was powerful. But not enough for me to stop taking you."

Y/n yelped as he was thrown Muzan's shoulder. He struggled as he tried to get out of Muzan's hold but it was no use, Muzan was just too strong for him at the moment. Y/n could feel small tears prick the side of his eyes.

"LET ME GO!! LEAVE ME ALONE!! I DON'T WANT THIS!!" Y/n screamed as he could see Muzan enter a door that wasn't there before.

There was suddenly a loud bang of the hospital door being opened was heard. Muzan turned slightly to see who had came and tried to get Y/n, Y/n's eyes slightly widened seeing his friends there, staring, wide eyed.

Uzui, Tanjiro, and Shinobu were the first responders when they heard Y/n yells. However, when they opened the door they couldn't help but freeze in place as they saw Y/n being carried by Muzan, the demon king himself.

"Y/n..." Uzui breathed out in shock of Y/n being awake and of the sight of the demon king.

Y/n quickly reached out to his friends as the look on his face looked like he was pleading for help. Muzan noticed this and started to walk through the door Nakime had created for him, taking his time. He knew that the slayers wouldn't get his Y/n anyways.

"HELP!!!" Y/n shouted once again, reaching his hand out as far as he could.

Tanjiro's eyes widened sharply at seeing his friend-crush pleading for help, for the first time in his life. He twitched as he snapped out of his state of being frozen on the spot. He ran to Y/n reaching his hand out too.

Tanjiro's and Y/n's finger tips barely even touched, but Tanjiro wasn't fast enough. In just a blink of an eye, Y/n was gone, out of his sight. With his momentum, Tanjiro fell to the floor with a crash. Banging his head on the way down.

When Muzan had disappeared, Shinobu fell to her knees, breathing heavily from the sudden release of pressure. Tears started to bubble up in her eyes are she remembered what had happened in front of her very own eyes.

Uzui had to use the doorway to support himself from the sudden pressure. His eyes were wide as they naturally flowed with tears. Y/n being taken - and him being able to do nothing about it - replayed over and over in his head, again and again.

Tanjiro got on his hands and knees slowly as his breathing was uneven. He breathed heavily and out of order as tears fell from his eyes to his cheeks then down to the wooden floor. He wanted to scream, to yell in anguish, but his breathing and tears kept him from doing so.

"Y-Y-Y/n..." Tanjiro breathed out, wheezing.

"I-I-It can't b-b-be..." Shinobu stuttered as she clawed at her own face in fear and anxiety.

"I can't... I can't breathe... move... I can't..." Uzui shuttered as his body shook terribly.

The sounds of rushed footsteps was heard from behind Shinobu, Uzui and Tanjiro, but they didn't move, they were too afraid, too shaken up of what had happened. They didn't even look up to see who ran toward them.

"Shinobu?! Uzui?! Tanjiro?!?!" The sound of Giyuu's voice shouted in a panic, "What happened??"

The sounds of rushed footsteps stopped when they noticed that the bed that once held a sleeping Y/n, was now messy with no body in it. They all looked around the room only to see no Y/n, and only a panicked looking Shinobu, Uzui and Tanjiro.

"Where... Where is Y/n?" Genya asks carefully with wide eyes.

There was no answer.

"Hey..." Sanemi asks in a dangerous and worried tone, "Where. Is. Y/n?"

"He's... He-He's..." Uzui stuttered.

The other's waited.

"A-And Mu-Muzan..." Shinobu whispered out, tears pouring out like there was no tomorrow.

Everyone tensed. Muzan? Thee Muzan was here? What the fuck happened? Where was Y/n? Why was Muzan here? What is going on? What happened to those there? Questions made the other's heads spin.

"Y/n..." Tanjiro breathed out finally, "...was taken... by... by Muzan..." He clutched his fists, "A-And I could do n-nothing about it..."

Everyone's eyes turned to horror as they heard the broken worlds that Tanjiro managed to say. Tears built up in everyone's eyes. Some began to sob, some stormed off in a fit of rage to go and fight or kill something. But only one stood still in pure shock.

"Y/n's... gone?" Muichiro whispered.

Muichiro looked around at everyone crying and some of them leaving in a storm behind as they left the estate. He then looked at Tanjiro, who seemed to be the most devastated of them all. From his uniform sleeve, he took out the crane that Y/n had made for him.

Muichiro looked down at the crane he had in his hand. His eyes began to shine as they bubbled up with tears. If Y/n was gone, then how was he and Muichiro going to see the cranes together now?

"Y/n... don't go..." Muichiro muttered to himself as he cried and hugged the crane close to his chest, "We still need to see the cranes together... right? Together... right...?"

Muichiro softly fell to his knees as he held the crane close to his heart, as if that would be a good way to bring Y/n back to him. He stayed like that for a bit, unmoving and crying, but silently. He didn't want to move until Y/n was with him once again.

However, that may never happen again.
