📖/❣️ Babysitting a Kid; PT 1
It was a warm and pleasant afternoon on May 28th in the small town of Stikingdere, the kind of day that made the trees seem a little greener and the air feel a little more relaxed. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over everything, as Stik was busy making plans for the evening. He had decided it was time to take his sister, Beth, and her husband, Zione, out for a special dinner. It was their anniversary, after all, and Stik was determined to make it a memorable one.
"Trust me, I've got the perfect place in mind," Stik said, his voice bubbling with enthusiasm. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he turned to his sister, hoping to convince her that his choice would be the ideal way to celebrate their special day. "You guys are going to love it!"
Beth, however, was not immediately sold on the idea. She crossed her arms, a skeptical frown on her face. "I don't know, Stik... I mean, we don't have anyone to watch Jr., and I'm NOT trusting anyone like Brute around him," she said with a firm tone, her brow furrowed in seriousness. She loved her brother, but the last thing she wanted was for something to go wrong with her son.
Stik's eyes widened in mock surprise. "Oh, don't even worry about a babysitter!" he insisted. "I've already got that covered! And trust me when I say, he's really good with kids. C'mon, just this once? You deserve a break! PLEEEEEAAAASSE???"
(LIVE STIK REACTION! REAL!)
Zione, who had been listening quietly, gave his wife a reassuring smile. "Well, it has been a while since we've had some time to ourselves. Maybe this isn't such a bad idea?" he said, his voice tinged with the slightest trace of doubt. Zione knew Stik well enough to trust that nothing would happen to Jr. The guy might be a little unconventional at times, but he was family. Stik wouldn't do anything to hurt his nephew. Still, Zione couldn't completely silence the worry in the back of his mind.
Beth eyed Stik warily, her gaze narrowing as she considered his offer. She wasn't entirely convinced, but Zione had a point. They hadn't had an evening alone in ages, and the idea of a quiet dinner sounded more and more appealing the longer she thought about it. Finally, with a long, drawn-out sigh, she gave in.
"Fine," she said, her voice a mixture of reluctance and exasperation. "But this better not be some stupid prank like last year, Stik. And you better know what you're doing." Her eyes bore into him, as if daring him to mess this up.
Stik grinned ear to ear, the most exaggerated smile crossing his face. He crossed his heart dramatically, his hand sweeping across his chest as if he were swearing an oath. "Cross my heart and hope to die," he said, pausing for comedic effect, "well, I mean, I can't actually die, but you get the idea."
Beth rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped her lips. "Alright, fine," she said with a resigned huff. "I'll go grab my stuff." She turned on her heel and walked toward the kitchen, shaking her head in mock frustration.
Stik silently pumped his fist in the air, barely containing his excitement. Yes!
As Zione pat him on the back, he leaned in with a curious expression. "Hey Stik, if you don't mind me asking, who do you have in mind to watch Jr. while we're gone? Not that I don't trust you, but, you know... just in case."
Stik flashed a grin that could only be described as mischievous. "Oh, trust me, man, he's a great babysitter. Hella good with kids too!" he said, his confidence unwavering. He gave Zione a reassuring wink as he spoke, trying to put his mind at ease.
Zione paused for a moment, still not entirely convinced but willing to trust his brother-in-law. "Alright... thanks, man. We really appreciate this. Seriously," he said, his tone sincere.
"No problem, man," Stik responded with a playful wink. "You know me, I've got everything covered."
With that, the couple made their way to the door. Jr., who had been playing with his toys in the living room, looked up from his little action figures, his bright eyes full of curiosity. "Where are you guys going?" he asked, his tiny voice high-pitched and innocent as he tilted his head slightly, not understanding why his parents were leaving.
Beth paused at the door and gave her son a soft smile, though her heart tugged a little. "Don't worry, Jr., we'll be right back in a little bit, okay?" she said, her voice calm but firm. "A nice guy is coming over to play with you soon. Be good and listen to him, alright?"
Jr.'s brow furrowed slightly as he glanced past his mother, but he nodded obediently, his attention already returning to his toys. Beth hesitated for a moment longer, her hand on the door handle, then finally stepped outside with Zione, still making sure to keep an eye on her son. She wasn't in a hurry to leave, but after a long day of work and taking care of Jr., a night out seemed more necessary than ever.
Once they were outside, Stik quietly shut the door behind them, letting out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "All set!" he said to Zione, giving him a confident grin.
"Let's just hope you know what you're doing," Zione replied, his tone a mixture of trust and lingering skepticism.
"Trust me," Stik said with a wink. "This is going to be a night to remember..."
