It was barely evening when the fights broke out.

The air had turned colder at the protest, and Yeonjun and Beomgyu had wandered off to talk to a couple of old friends.

Soobin, likewise, was off talking to a pair of girlfriends much shorter than him about some recent events.

"I knowww," one of the girls spoke, her bright smile incredibly endearing.
"I've been worried too about how the government will deal with the drug thing. My girlfriend had to stop taking them."

The black haired girl next to her playfully slapped the shorter's arm.
"Jiwoo! You basically just told him I'm a demon!" she scolded, yet her laughing face suggested she wasn't all that mad about it.

"Ah..." Soobin cut in. "Are both of you demons then?"

"Nah," she shook her head. "I'm a berserker. Jiwoo's human," the taller corrected.

Soobin blinked, choosing to ignore whatever the hell a berserker could be for the moment.
"Is it that common? Demons and humans dating?" he asked, weirdly focused all of a sudden.

The two girls looked at each other for a second.

"Eh?" the shorter brunette– Jiwoo, apparently– spoke up. "Well, it's not uncommon. It makes sense when you think about all the halfies that are born."

Soobin briefly nodded, but paused as a thought popped into his head.
"Oh... so half-demons do exist? Weren't they checking to see if it was scientifically possible?"

Both girls stared at him.
"Shouldn't... you know that already?"

"Huh?" was all Soobin could respond, before a chorus of shouts broke out from nearby.

"Oh god, the hell are the cops doing here now?" Jiwoo questioned, standing on her tiptoes as she tried to look over the crowd in the distance.

"Sooyoung, we should leave," she said, pulling at her girlfriend's arm. "We can't risk you getting detained."

The black haired girl, Sooyoung, shook her head. "It's fine. They're probably just doing some crowd control."

They were not doing crowd control.

Sounds of glass shattering followed the loud yelling of the crowd, and almost immediately a wave of protesters began running in every which way.

"Soobin," the shorter girl grabbed his wrist. "We need to go. It's not safe here anymore."

"But—" Soobin trailed off, glancing around, hesitant to move.

Where the hell was Yeonjun?

"If your boyfriend's not an idiot, he'll be fine!" Jiwoo insisted. "Come with us before things get worse!"

"He's n..."
Soobin took a deep breath before nodding.
It wasn't even worth it to argue, and he knew Yeonjun would prefer for him to get to safety rather than stay like a dumbass.

The three followed the others in the crowd as it dispersed in all directions; some people ducked into stores and shops, and Soobin even caught sight of a few people jumping over fences between the sidewalks and the properties next to them.

The sound of screaming sirens almost made him freeze out of fear.

"Go, go! Someone stabbed an officer!" one of the people running nearby shouted, causing a ripple of people relaying the news throughout the crowd.

Soobin winced as someone dashing by hit him on the shoulder by accident.

"Hurry up!" Sooyoung pulled up her mask, gesturing not only for Soobin, but also for the people nearby to hide their faces.
She took her girlfriend's hand and gave it a squeeze, before taking out a pair of sunglasses and donning those as well.

Soobin felt like he was having a fever dream. He'd never experienced anything like this in his whole life.

"We'll go into the alley over there. It's probably the best place to hide for now," Jiwoo stated, beckoning the two to follow alongside her in the direction he was going.

He nearly tripped as he was yanked back by the sudden feeling of a hand grabbing onto his own.

"Fuck, who..." Soobin whipped around to confront whoever it may be, but dropped the annoyed act immediately upon registering their face.

"Jun—" Soobin was barely able to get out the name before the light haired boy pulled him into a hug, leaving a little kiss against his neck.

"Are you hurt anywhere?" Yeonjun inquired immediately, squeezing Soobin tightly for just a second.

"No, not really. I'm fine," Soobin assured him immediately.

"We're leaving. Beomgyu has a car, he'll drive us back," Yeonjun let go of him, cupping Soobin's face in his hands.

"Okay..." Soobin agreed, but stopped as he realized he'd forgotten something.
"Do you have room for two more people?"

"Definitely. Why?" Yeonjun asked.

Soobin turned, seeing the two girls jogging towards the dark alleyway, pulling up their hoods.

"Sooyoung, Jiwoo!" Soobin shouted at them. They paused, turning around at their names being called.
"Come over here! We're taking you with us!"

The two shared a look before running over towards Soobin, giving a nod of acknowledgment to Yeonjun as well.

"They your friends?" Yeonjun questioned as the couple joined up with them, and all followed Yeonjun down the street to where Beomgyu was parked.

Soobin nodded. "They tried to help me just now. I couldn't leave them there."

Yeonjun hummed in understanding, before taking out his phone. He haphazardly typed out a text telling Beomgyu something about unlocking the car doors, and shoved his phone back in his pocket.

Soobin realized that Yeonjun's hand was still holding onto his own and smiled lightly, taking the moment to interlock their fingers.

"When this is over I'll buy drinks for all of you," Sooyoung said jokingly, putting her black hair into a ponytail as to get it out of her face while running.

The group laughed in response, all picking up in pace as they laid eyes on Beomgyu's car.

Beomgyu noticed the group rushing towards him and unlocked the doors quickly, just before Yeonjun jumped into the seat next to him.
Soobin and the girls crammed into the backseat, all hooting and cheering while the adrenaline rush was still surging.

"Fuck yeah!" Sooyoung shouted as Beomgyu started driving off, swerving quickly as to escape from the approaching crowds.

"How's that for a getaway car?" Beomgyu asked teasingly as they sped down the street, with Yeonjun patting him on the back.

Soobin leaned back in his seat, tired yet exhilarated from the thrill of the chase.

"My god! Beomgyu, you're so sexy for this one," Soobin said, laughing, almost in disbelief that they'd done it.

"Damn right. You're lucky because I just got my driver's license a week ago," Beomgyu replied, the girls in the backseat cackling at this answer.

A happy silence fell over the group, exhausted not only from the brief run, but also from the entire day they'd spent standing outside.

Beomgyu and the girlfriends happily chatted, mainly with him asking where he should drop them off.

"Soobin, do you want me to take you home first? Your house is on the way to theirs," Beomgyu inquired, seeing Soobin resting with his head against the car door.

Soobin, for some reason, looked at Yeonjun for the answer. He made eye contact with the elder, who'd also turned to look at him.

"Yeah," Yeonjun spoke up instead. "He's probably tired."

Beomgyu nodded at this, turning on the radio as to fill the silence that ensued.

The drive to Soobin's house was quite short, and the quiet that laid over the air as Soobin gathered his things felt quite heavy.

"Thanks for the ride, Beomgyu," the tall boy said as he slung his bag over his shoulder, unlocking the car door.

"Jun, do you want your clothes back later?" Soobin said as he stepped out of the car, remembering he was wearing the elder's garments.

Yeonjun shook his head.
"Keep it. You already have more of my clothes than just that anyway," he dismissed, ignoring the smug look that Beomgyu was giving him.

"Bye then," Soobin waved at everyone, briefly thanking the two girls in the backseat.
He shut the door, giving the group a smile before padding off towards his house.

A few seconds passed by as the group in the car sat and watched, waiting for Soobin to unlock the door to his house and step inside.
And as soon as he was out of sight...

"Hey," Sooyoung, sitting in the backseat, reached forward to lightly hit Yeonjun's shoulder with her hand.

"Have you two done the Ceremony yet?" she asked, her face lit up with excitement at the question.

Yeonjun stared at her, wide eyed.
"No!" he said immediately, "We... we're not even dating, much less... that."

Beomgyu let out a laugh at this.
"It's true. This idiot just has a fat crush on him," he backed up the other's claim.

"That's a shame. We did it a few months ago, it was amazing," Jiwoo spoke up, clasping her girlfriend's hand in her own.

"This guy," Beomgyu snickered to himself. "Always whined to me about how much he wanted to do it one day, and now that he has someone for it? Nothing happens."

"I will punt you straight into hell," Yeonjun threatened the boy, who only giggled harder at the warning.

"Whatever. He'd definitely do it if you asked him," Beomgyu encouraged. "Soobin's a huge pushover, honestly."

"Stop," Yeonjun whined. "You're not even a demon, shut up."

"Says you," Beomgyu retorted.

"Are you going to drop us off, or....?" Sooyoung interrupted from the back, raising her hand as if in a classroom.

"Oh! Yeah," Beomgyu said, starting up the car once more.

"I'll fight you later, don't argue with me while I'm driving," he continued, turning into the street and ignoring the miffed look that Yeonjun sent him.

And thus the sound of a song playing through the car radio was the only sound left in the space.
