THEY SAY STICKS AND STONES could break your bones, but Lyda Braesvelt found that her gloved hands could do the job a lot quicker when she put her mind to it.

She was a child of the demons— at least that's what everyone had always said. From the storm in her eyes to her unpredictable temper and unwavering, questionable morals, the people of Ketterdam and the Crow Club just seemed to draw their own silly conclusions.

Lyda had come to a few conclusions herself— firstly, the world was a silly place with silly people. Secondly, she was not the demons' child but could sure as hell act like it if she had to and lastly, sometimes being a saving grace was simply not worth it at all. She had made a pact to herself upon facing the world's back— if she could not ensnare the light of the room, she would embody the darkest most irrepressible force. If she could not be liked, she would be despised and if she could not win, she would quite simply win anyways.

After all, during all the harsh changes in the world, one must stay true to themselves and remain faithful to their mind, lest they get lost to time.
