C2: Pile of Rock
Hey guys! Ok so here's the 2nd installment... I already pre-wrote this so I'm just publishing it. :)
Three hours later, the car stopped in front of a beautiful victorian home. Kayla, waking up from her nap, saw the house and smiled. "Fancy." She said. "Sorry honey, that one was a million dollars more expensive. Turn around." Her dad chuckled. Kayla turned and found herself looking at a ragged-looking, orange house with windows that were caked with something brown. She figured out what the trunk full of cleaning materials was for.
She smirked. Her parents saw straight through her fake smile. Her father threw her over his shoulders with a grin. He carried her over to their front yard and sat her down.
He sat next to her and handed her a small rectangular box. "What's this for?" she asked. "A compensation gift." He grinned. She opened the box and saw a beautiful silver necklace with her name engraved on it. Around it was a silver ring with a small diamond inside a heart. "I love it!" She shouted, "It must've cost a fortune." "Well, it may have but don't ever forget you're worth more than anything." He replied taking her into a hug.
"What about me?" Her mom called to them from the porch. She charged at them and grabbed them into a group hug.
They spent the rest of the day cleaning the house while waiting for the moving van to arrive. It was dinner time when it pulled up in front of their house. They helped each other bring the boxes in.
Finally, after dinner, Kayla unpacked her mini-subwoofers and plugged her phone into them. She turned on a random song from her playlist and started to unpack her boxes. She tried to change her mentality of thinking about the house as a dump. Maybe just pile-of- rock level hideousness.
Sorry the chapters are so short. I'm still getting used to writing :)
