Your POV

"Hey! When you're done there, help us with setting up the camp." The Spearton general called out to me as I mined the gold.

"Yes sir!" I saluted as I quickened my pace. I wiped the sweat from my forehead as I finished mining the last of the ore.

I looked up to the foggy dark red sky briefly before proceeding to drag my bag of gold to the camp.

We were in the volcanic environment of No Man's Land. We made it this far in our journey to conquering Inamorta.

I have been with Order since the beginning. Most of us loyal Miners weren't able to survive the whole journey.

But I did. And now, we were off to fight in the last and greatest battle. After I dropped my gold in the fort, I went to help the soldiers prepare the camp.

When all was ready, the generals gathered everyone together and gave a motivational speech to encourage us in the last stand.

But I sort of spaced out. After 10 minutes, I decided to sneak out of camp and explore the area.

No one noticed me slip away. But I didn't go too far so that in case I was in danger, I could call for help.

There really was no distinction between night and day in this part od No Man's Land. The sky was always the same: dark and covered in smoke and ashes.

"I wonder what I'll do after the battle. I hope I'll survive long enough to see the enemy's statue crumble." I said to myself as I kick a rock.

I continued kicking pebbles and watching them go to different directions. "Maybe I'll see my family again after all this." I smile.

I kicked another rock and watched as it bounced across the ground and landed near some other rocks.

But I noticed something off. Is it just me, or is the rock shaking? Wait, why are all the rocks shaking?

I suddenly felt vibrations coming from the ground. Was there an earthquake? Or are one of the volcanoes erupting?

But I look around and see no change in the surroundings. I got worried as the vibrations got stronger and stronger.

Until all of a sudden, I heard a laugh. I look around rapidly, trying to locate its source. I soon hear footsteps as I see Order soldiers approach me.

"Y/N? What are you doing out here?" They asked. But before I could reply, I heard a soldier gasp. "Y/N!! LOOK OUT!!"

I turned around to see what he was pointing at but it was too late. A large hand grabbed me and I had no way of escape.

We all look up and see a giant. But it wasn't any normal giant. This one was twice the size of a typical giant and it wore a skull helmet.

Before I could process everything, the giant lifted me off the ground. I screamed as I struggled in its grip.

Some Archidons came and tried shooting at the giant but the arrows had little effect.

The giant began to walk away with me still in its hand. I stopped struggling since I was really high off the ground and if the giant let me go, I would fall to my death.

The voices of the Order soldiers grew fainter and fainter until I couldn't hear them at all. All I heard were the hard footsteps of the giant.

After about 15 minutes, the giant stopped near a volcano that seemed to be inactive. Due to his height, he was able to drop me on a ledge of the volcano.

When I was free from his grasp, the first thing I did was glare at the giant, who was now watching my every move.

"Why'd you bring me all the way up here?!" I shouted. Though I didn't expect a response since I knew giants couldn't really speak properly.

But to my surprise, the giant replied, "So that you'll be too high to escape from me." He said in a low voice.

I rolled my eyes as I turn away from him and try to find ways on how I can sneak away. He was right: the volcano was high and its surface was steep. A single wrong step could cost me my life.

"And don't think your empire will come running to rescue you. After all you're just a miner." The giant added.

"Im not just a miner." I snarled as I look back at him. "I've been with Order ever since we decided to unite Inamorta."

The giant looked at me emotionlessly. "But you're still just a miner, not a soldier, which means you're barely a help to the army."

"Barely?! Miners are the ones who drag bags of gold and crystal to provide resources to train soldiers!" I retorted.

"In the end though, miners are easily replaceable and no one cares if one dies, no matter how loyal they've been." The giant replied.

Before I could say anything again, his words struck me. I thought about what he said. It was true. Miners were expendable units, not like the soldiers.

I can't believe I was so entitled and full of myself, thinking that I was higher than an average miner.

The giant tilted his head as he watched me reflect. "Do not worry, you won't be seeing that empire again anyway." He said as he nudged me with his huge finger.

I look at him in confusion. "I will personally crush them with the help of the remaining rebels." He told me. "Then you and I can stay together for as long as you want."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Is that why you abducted me?" I questioned. "To let me stay with you?" The giant nodded in response.

"I wanted to spare one of the most pathetic units in Order because I couldn't help but feel bad for them."

"...Ok? But why me of all the miners?" I asked. "Well, its like what you said." The giant stopped poking me. "You're not like the others."

I look at the giant's eyes questioningly. But I immediately shielded my own eyes from a sudden light.

The giant and I looked to the side and saw one of the volcanoes erupting. I smiled at the fantastic sight. This place may not have sunrises but it has this.

"Would you like to accompany me in taking down Order?" The giant asked, breaking the silence.

I thought for a while. Do I really want to watch the empire I was so loyal to fall before me? Even if they probably never cared for a miner like me?

"Yeah sure." I answered. "Just don't let me see a 100% clear view of the battle." The giant nodded as he let out his hand for me to climb on.

He let me sit on his shoulder as he got ready for the last stand. "Hold on alright? I don't want you falling off." The giant said as he began to walk back to Order's camp.

Why is this more than 1100 words long??
