Female Spearton POV

I paced around the fort for what felt like the millionth time. I sighed as I look up from the ground.

It was night and the sky was dark. Really, really dark to the point where you couldn't even see the stars: only the faint light of the crescent moon.

Im supposed to be guarding the camp for the first half of the night. In another hour, someone else will take my place.

Being on guard duty was said to be dangerous, especially if it were in the dead of night. But right now, it felt boring.

The land of the Chaos Empire was said to have monsters prowling during the time of darkness, like Crawlers, Eclipsors, and Marrowkai.

We've only seen a Crawler or 2 try to steal our supplies but never a whole pack of those animals.

As for Eclipsors and Marrowkai, we haven't encountered one...

...yet.

I look back at the dusty ground. One more hour... then I can go to sleep...

*Snap*

Wait, what was that?

I immediately went on alert mode and began looking around, holding my shield close to my body.

The plain looked empty. There seemed to be no one else except me and the camp far behind me.

"Whoever's there, come out and show yourself!" I demanded. Then, it stayed silent. But I didn't let my guard down.

Suddenly, someone jumped on me from behind. Before I could react, the person had a weapon at my neck.

"Hey, who the hell-" "Say something again, I'll have my axe through your throat." The voice behind me interrupted.

As my eyes adjusted, I saw that the blade of an axe was just touching the skin of my neck.

I glanced behind me and gulped as I was met by the glaring, glowing red eyes of a Juggerknight.

"Drop your weapons, Spearton." He demanded. I hesitantly obeyed and slowly let go of my spear and shield.

"Your dagger, get rid of it, too." The Juggerknight added as he pressed the axe closer to my neck. I quickly grabbed my dagger from my belt and dropped it on the ground.

"Good, now I'd prefer if you'd stay quiet while I kill you-" "Wait, we can talk this out right?" I frantically asked.

"Hm, no." The Juggerknight scoffed. "I was sent here to take down this Order camp and eliminate everyone there.

"Anyways, I shouldn't be wasting time talking to a stupid Order soldier." He chuckled as he got ready to slice my throat. "Good night~"

Instinctively, I struggled and hit the Juggerknight's chest with my elbow, causing him to groan and let me go.

I quickly grabbed my weapons and got into a defensive stance. When the Juggerknight recovered, he smirked.

"Oh, so you wanna fight, huh?" He got his axe and sharp-tipped shield ready. "Bring it on, Spearton."

We both charged and our shields bashed against each other. We glared through our helmets as we pushed and waited for one of us to overwhelm the other.

But our forces were equal and after one final push, we both jumped back. Then, the Juggerknight charged at me with his axe above his head.

I blocked his attack with my shield but he attempted to kick at my feet to make me trip. Luckily, I gave him a headbutt before he could do so.

For the next minutes, our weapons would clash again and again. But I was the first to start panting.

The Juggerknight noticed and started speeding up his attacks. I was able to block some of them at first but then his axe just barely missed my arm.

I tried to throw my spear at his head. However, it only scarred his hand and now my spear was gone.

The Juggerknight picked up my spear from the ground and looked at me. "Heh, give up already. You don't have your spear anymore and you're exhausted." He taunted.

But I narrowed my eyes. "I still have my dagger." I then brought out the small blade. "Im not giving up that easily."

The Juggerknight just stared at me. "You have a lot of fight in ya, Spearton, even if you know you're fighting a losing battle." He said.

I only growled and got ready for any sudden attack he might make. "You know, you've given me the entertainment that I wanted tonight. Maybe I'll spare you...

"...for now."

To my surprise, the Juggerknight lowered his axe and shield, dropped my spear, and turned away from me. Is he actually going to leave?

"Wait, are you serious?" I questioned, though still not leaving my defensive stance. It could be a lie after all.

"Yes, unless of course, you would like to continue." The Juggerknight held up his axe to his face, trying to threaten me.

I gulped but tried not to show any fear. The Juggerknight took it as a no and chuckled. "Well then, I must be on my way. Until next time, Spearton~"

And with that, as quickly as he came, the Juggerknight was out of sight. I looked around as I felt he was still there and maybe still waiting for a chance to strike me down.

But when nothing came, I lowered my shield and slowly went to pick up my spear. Then, I heard someone call my name.

"Y/N! Alex is awake. He can stand guard while you can rest for the night!" A Swordwrath called out to me. I look at him and nod as I start walking back to the fort.

But I kept the encounter with the Juggerknight a secret from everyone.
