𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 ~ 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘵

The superyacht is beyond impressive—it's remarkable. It has to be at least 130 feet long, with three large decks and wooden stairs leading from the bottom deck all the way up to the top deck.

"Wow." I breathe out.

Cole laughs at me after anchoring his RHIB, "Yup. This beauty is what almost 90 million bucks will buy you."

"Holy shit—who is this guy?!" I swear, and take Cole's hand as he helps me up onboard the superyacht.

"You'll meet him soon enough." He tells me, before disappearing into the crowd of people partying like there's no tomorrow.

I'm glad to see that I'm wearing the right thing; most of the girls are just wearing a bikini top and shorts, or maybe a skirt. The guys are all in boardshorts, quite a few of them shirtless.

And everyone's dancing, and drinking, and having fun.

As I pick my way through the crowd, careful not to stand on any bare feet, I spot Reiley and head over to him.

"Hi, Reiley!" I shout to him over the pounding music.

He's wearing grey boardshorts and a blue shirt that goes beautifully with his eyes and makes him look even more tanned.

"Hey, Skye." His eyes skim over me, and I realise that I'm wearing a blue bikini, under a white top—which shows through clearly.

"This boat's beautiful, isn't it?" I divert his attention, feeling a blush rising in my cheeks.

"Yeah, it's gorgeous." He smiles at me. "I'll grab you a drink."

"I'm guessing you also know the guy whose party this it?" I raise an eyebrow as he passes me a glass, "What's in this?"

"It's just beer." He frowns, "I'm not gonna give you vodka straight away."

"I was just checking," I explain, rolling my eyes, "Some guy tried to sell me moonshine in Texas, claiming it was water. So...do you know whose party this is?"

He laughs at that, "Yeah, I do know him."

"And...?" I prompt after a moment of silence, "What's he like? What's his name? Why did he want me here?"

"What is this, an interrogation?" He questions jokingly, and takes a mouthful of beer.

"Is Sophie here?" I ask, glancing around me.

"Probably." Reiley shrugs.

What??!! They can't be going out if he doesn't know if she's here or not...or maybe they fell out?

Oh God, just ask him already, Skye.

"Reiley...I wanted to talk to you about something." I hesitate, "Is there somewhere quieter we could go?"

"Sure." He guides me through the crowd, with a hand on my shoulder. "There's some guest rooms through those doors."

Also, through 'those doors', are a load more people partying, and a glass spiral staircase in the middle of the room.

I quietly breathe out another, "Wow."

We go the right, where there's some guest rooms. Reiley then inputs a key code and unlocks a room.

I arch an eyebrow at him, "This guy must really trust you."

Reiley doesn't respond, but walks over to the balcony and looks out across the ocean.

"So, the thing I wanted to talk to you about...well, erm, it's kinda silly, but – erm..." I splutter out.

"I have something I want to talk to you about as well." He tells me as I join him at the balcony.

"Can I go first?" I ask, feeling nervous.

"Sure, go for it." He leans on the balcony with one arm, and looks across at me.

"So...you and Sophie." I swallow, "Are you guys going out, or are you just like really close friends?"

"Me and Sophie, going out?!" He laughs aloud.

"That's exactly how Cole reacted when I told him." I stated disgruntledly. "And he told me to ask you about it."

"Sophie..." Reiley responds between laughs, "Sophie...she's...my...little sister!"

"Oh my God!" My cheeks flare up red and I slap my hand to my forehead, "I'm such an idiot."

"You're not," He reassures, finally stopping laughing. "You thought that, because I knew she was lactose intolerant, and the fact she left me a billion texts and calls whilst my phone was in your van, she was my girlfriend?"

"I didn't know what to think." I shrug, sighing heavily, "I guess I just put two and two together and got five instead of four."

"Chill, it's fine." He nudges his shoulder against mine, "I'm single."

"Good." I blurt before I can stop myself.

Reiley steps close to me, so close that we could kiss, and asks, "And why, Skye Jameson, is it good that I'm single?"

I search around me for a distraction, "Oh, look, the sun's setting."

"Yeah, Skye, it does that every night." He smirks, face still super close to me.

"I want to watch it set from the top deck." I insist, and scoot away from him, walking out the room.

And breathe.

"Hey, Skye." Cole acknowledges as he walks by, arm slung around a girl's waist.

"Hey." I smile back weakly, before heading outside and up to the top deck.

Reiley's already up there.

"How?" I frown at him.

He shrugs a shoulder, "Shortcut."

The sun's sinking below the horizon, leaving gold streaks across the sky.

"It's gorgeous." I breathe out.

"Yeah, you are." Reiley responds, and, somehow, I manage not to blush.

"Whatever." I shove his shoulder lightly, teasingly, flirtingly.

But I can flirt with him, can't I? He is single, after all.

"Well, I can tick that one off now." I take a sip of beer, "Sunset on a superyacht—check."

"You want something to eat?" Reiley asks, gesturing to a huge buffet table to the left of us.

"Surprise me." I tell him, and he goes to grab some food.

"Close your eyes." He tells me when he returns, hiding the food behind his hand.

"That better not have dairy in it, or you'll end up with diarrhoea all over you." I warn seriously.

"Trust me, growing up with a lactose intolerant baby sister taught me that one pretty fast." He smirks, "Now close your eyes."

"Fine." I huff, screwing my eyes tightly up, and opening my mouth—probably looking stupid.

He places it in my mouth, and I can feel his breath on my face.

Opening my eyes, I chew and swallow the food, and realise how great it is.

"Oh my God, what was that? It tasted so good!" I exclaim.

"Nothing special," He shrugs, "Just smoked salmon on a blini."

"It probably tasted so great because I've not really eaten that much today." I admit.

His forehead creases into a frown, "Do you want me to get you something else, like a sandwich, or something?"

I chew my lip and look around at the dancing crowd, "No, that's okay, I'll be fine, I—"

Reiley's now talking to one of the champagne waiters, "Will you please go to the kitchen and tell Gus to make a lactose-free, smoked salmon and salad sandwich for my friend?"

"Yes, sir." The waiter responds and hurries off.

"Reiley!" I complain, "I told you I'll be fine."

"You can't be drinking or partying on an empty stomach, especially on a boat." He tells me sternly.

"I've not even started partying yet." I scoff, "You do not wanna see me when I party hard."

"I think I do, actually," He steps closer to me, "What's stopping you from letting loose?"

"The fact that I've never been on a superyacht before?" I respond incredulously.

"How's your first experience going so far, then?" He asks smugly.

"Pretty great, actually. Apart from the fact I've still not met whoever's hosting this party..." I look around me.

"Well, you—" Reiley begins, before the waiter reappears with my sandwich and hands it to him, "Thank you."

"No problem, sir." The waiter starts walking around with the champagne again.

"Do you want to sit down somewhere?" Reiley turns to me.

"Sure...how about one of the guest rooms again?" I suggest.

The fact that he's being so caring about me makes me like him even more, I realise as we walk down to the cabins.

We go in the same guest room as before, and I'm sure that if anyone were bothered and watching, they'd definitely think that something was going on between us.

Well, something is...not that though.

Reiley flicks the light on, as it's getting darker now, and we go over to the balcony again.

The sandwich that this Gus guy has made is great: smoked salmon, watercress and tomatoes on wholemeal bread.

"Feel better?" Reiley asks when I've finished.

"Yes, definitely." I thank him.

"No worries. Getting wasted isn't fun." He shrugs.

I frown, remembering that he wanted to tell me something before, but I left before he could.

"You wanted to talk to me about something, earlier?" I ask, facing him.

"Ah, yeah." He rubs his face and sinks down onto the double bed.

"Do you still wanna talk about it?" I sit down next to him, thighs touching.

"Well, you know how you were saying you haven't even met the host yet?" Reiley nods, looking at the floor, "You already have."

"Who is it?" I frown harder; I haven't met more than a handful of people here in California.

"Me." He looks across at me, "This is my dad's boat."

My mouth drops open, "You?! When we were in my van last night and I said: this is where you tell me you have a superyacht, and you said that you don't have a boat."

"It is my dad's boat." He shrugs.

"What's your full name?" I ask.

"My full name is Thaddeus Reiley, and my dad's the CEO of Reiley Incorporated." He tells me all in one breath.

"And here I was thinking that you were just another skint surfer, and it turns out you're the son of a millionaire." I spit out at him, jumping to my feet.

"It doesn't change anything that you know about me already, I'm still the same guy." He stands up as well, jamming his hands into his pockets.

I take a deep breath, "How come you work in a beach hut café if you're rich?"

"Maybe I like working there, making coffee." His eyes lock on mine, "I wouldn't've met you if I didn't work there...and besides, it's not like you're the most open book, either."

"That's because being an open book gets you hurt." I retort.

"Let's try something new then," He suggests, "How about we tell the truth?"

"Fine: how long were you going to wait before telling me who you were?" I snap at him.

"I tried to tell you on the first night I met you, but you cut me off, and then I couldn't find the guts again to tell you...besides, I like being my own person, mostly independent of my father and his multi-million-dollar company." He explains, then asks, "How come you don't have a phone?"

"I threw it in the sea before I left Miami." I tell him bluntly, "What do people call you around here then, Thaddeus?"

He winces at my harsh tone, and answers, "Some people do just know me as Reiley. Cole, Kai and the other guys just call me whatever the hell they want, usually Reiley or variations of Ed. My dad calls me Thaddeus, and I hate it when he does."

My tone softens, "What do you want me to call you?"

"Ed." He tells me and steps a little closer to me, "I'd like you to call me Ed, or Reiley—whatever you want, just not Thaddeus."

"Ed..." I repeat, getting used to how it feels to say aloud, "I'm sorry for yelling at you."

"It's okay." He nods, and admits, "And though it might seem like I have a perfect life, I don't; my mom died a few years back."

"I'm so sorry, Reile- Ed." I correct last minute.

"It's fine, Skye...I'll tell you about it another time, but not now," He confirms, "Now we're at a party, my party, and we should go have fun."

"Okay." I nod, and he links his fingers through mine and pulls me out of the room and onto the deck.

He leads me over to where the speakers are set up, and pumps the volume up even more.

Then he turns to the crowd, arms in the air, "Let's get this party going, people!"

They all whooped, and jumped up and down on the deck.

"Do you know all of these people?" I yell down his ear over the music.

He shakes his head, "They're mostly friends of friends!"

I laugh aloud, "Of course they are."

"C'mon Skye." He takes my hands and drags me into the middle of the crowd of people.

The song that's playing now has to be one of my favourites, it's the Alan Walker remix of 'Move Your Body', by Sia.

Dancing with Reil- Ed, I sing at the out the lyrics at the top of my lungs:

"Poetry in your body
You got it in every way
And can't you see it's you I'm watching
I am hot for you in every way
And turn around, let me see you
Wanna free you with my rhythm
I know you can't get enough
When I turn up with my rhythm..."

The whole crowd of people are pressing around us, but all I care about is Rei- Ed...and the way he's got his body pressed against mine as we move with the music.

I curl my arms around the back of his neck, and his hands slide down my back to rest on my waist...his body's poetry, he's got it in every way...I'm watching him and I'm hot for him in every way...

His head tilts down some more towards mine, and our lips are now so close together...and I think he's about to kiss me...until water pours over us.

Frowning and drenched, I look up to the sky, expecting rainclouds, but the night's clear—stars are visible.

"You bastard, Cole!" Rei- Ed yells up to his friend, who it turns out is holding a hosepipe, meaning he was the one that drenched us.

But the party doesn't stop there; people continue dancing, peeling off wet items of clothing.

I turn back to Ed, and, like everyone else is doing, unbutton and peel off his wet shirt, finally revealing his stunning body.

"May I?" His hands are waiting at the bottom of my soaked top.

"Of course." I grin, lifting my arms up as he peels it off me.

"Damn, Skye." His eyes linger on my bikini-clad chest.

In response, I just grin up at him, pressing my hands along and down his impressive abs, following the beautiful V-shape that dips down into his boardshorts...

"So, Ed," I wrap my arms around his neck again, "Are your parties always this successful?"

"Always." He beams down at me, "But this one's especially successful."

"How come?" I ask, shouting above the music that only seems to be getting louder.

"Because it's got you at it." He clamps his hands down on my waist and lifts me up into the sky, twirling me around like I'm a dancer, before setting me back down on the ground.

We spend what feels like the rest of the night drinking and dancing and laughing with each other. There are plenty of other girls at the party, all much pretty than me, but Re- Ed only has eyes for me.

By the time the night's wrapping up, Ed and I still haven't kissed, but I'm okay with that.

I'm probably too drunk to remember it if it did happen anyway...
