[] Day 19: Cataclysmic []

BEFORE THIS STARTS- Yes I know this isn't in the AU book, this AU is new, I did make it this month. BUT I didn't make it for the prompts, I thought of it without using any of them so I didn't fail the challenge of not making any new AUs with the prompts. If y'all really want to argue, Flower can be the judge of whether this counts against it or not XD

AU: Altered Prophecy (What if RQ went with the classic route of 'this person mentioned in this prophecy is the hero', and Sabre is supposed to be the next Rainbow? It's a relatively minor change but it impacts the story so much!)

Context: Basically just Sabre finding out he's supposed to be the next Hero :3

[Sabre's POV]

I walked into the temple with Red Steve, the light from outside almost spotlighting the mural on the back wall.

Red excitedly leads me next to the mural, stopping in front of it. He points at different parts of it as he explains.

"The colors shown here are all of the Chromatic colors, representing each of our people and our colors' symbolism; Wisdom, Creativity, Energy, Health, Spirit, Connection, and Love." Red begins. "The black creeping in at the edges is the Darkness, our enemy, and the force that needs to be stopped."

"What does it do?" I ask.

"It... corrupts people. Controlling them and making them follow its command, only to destroy more and more of the world in the process. I've... seen many be taken by it." Red replies, looking sad for a moment. But, he shifts his focus back to the colorful parts of the mural and becomes excited again.

"But that's where this comes in!" He smiles, pointing to the colorful swirl at the center with a white symbol over it. "This meld of colors with the emblem here, that represents the Third Hero, the Catalyst. The one said to come from another world to aid us, immune to the Darkness' control and corruption.  And although he is unlike us, he is destined to gather the Crystals while reconnecting the Chromatic kingdoms, and become the next Rainbow, defeating the Darkness."

He turns to me with a bright smile, excited.

"That's you, Sabre. You're the Catalyst spoken of in the prophecy."

Wait, what?

"M-Me? Are you sure about that, chief?" I ask. "I've been here for like, an hour. I don't know anything about this... Realm. I've never heard of anything like this. How do you even know I'm supposed to be this... 'hero'?"

"The emblem over the rainbow! Haven't you noticed?" Red asks. "It's just like the mark you wear on your sleeve. The... circle thing. Can you tell me what it is?"

Red points to my hoodie sleeve, right at my patch of the Earth on it. Pulling my sleeve a bit to look at it, I quickly realize that's what he's talking about.

"This-? It's an embroidered picture of my home world. It's called Earth." I explain. "I don't really..."

But as I take a closer look at the symbol in the center of the mural, I realize that it actually does look like the Earth. More specifically, like a badge with a picture of Earth on it. It's not 100% accurate, like it was drawn from memory, but... it's definitely it. I just didn't notice before because it wasn't too recognizable without the right colors.

"...Oh."

"What's wrong? You sound upset." Red asks. He looks worried.

"I'm not sure I'm up for this..." I mumble. "I mean, I'm not really anything special in my world. I'm just some dude. I don't have any special abilities, I wasn't notably powerful or anything like that. And I have no idea what I'm doing here! I was just exploring the woods when I found that tomb. And I'm supposed to be some hero and save the world-?"

"It's alright Sabre, you're not going to be alone in this effort." Red smiles comfortingly at me, placing his hand on my shoulder. "You'll have people to help you learn about this world as you explore it, and teach you how it works. I'll be one of them, and I have some friends I'm sure are going to love you. You won't be just thrown into the deep end with this, I promise. You'll have some time to adjust."

"...Thanks, Red." I smile back.

"No problem. Now-" Red starts, taking his hand off my shoulder, but he's interrupted.

Suddenly, some kind of black smoke starts forming on the pedestals around us. It hisses and flickers like fire, and I swear I can see people standing in it.

"Red?! Red, what's happening?!"

"Oh no... it's gotten free."
