(No ones POV)

You and Ash were in your temple at homeworld. Your temple was similar to a pyramid only that there were multiple torches on practically all sides and small lava rivers around. Right now, many of your temple guards were keeping their distance and looking for coverage behind the pillars or statues of the temple. The reason behind this is that you were beyond furious.

You were on the balcony of your temple along with Ash, two peridots, and two amethysts. The two amethysts were carrying a statue that had Yellow Diamond's figure.

Onyx: Throw!

The two amethysts threw Yellow Diamond's statue into the air. You generated a fireball in your hand and threw it toward the statue, causing it to explode into several pieces in the air. None of the guards tried to mention anything about this for fear of becoming your next anger relievers.

Ash: Nice shot, master Onyx.

You were looking at yellow diamond's temple in the distance. The decision to destroy all the gems on earth was making you feel furious because you knew that all this was caused by Rose's manipulation. You slowly walked away from the ledge.

Onyx: I can't believe what they are going to do. I fought in the name of diamonds for centuries and it doesn't even-

You stopped what you were about to say when you heard the sound of buttons being pressed. You slowly moved your gaze to the right to see one of the peridots writing something on a screen.

Onyx: What... Are you... Doing?

The peridot could feel the anger that came from your words and she started to panic.

Peridot1: I-I'm making a report of the number of soldiers that we are going to l-lose...

You started rubbing your forehead a little in frustration. Ash slowly started to hide behind a wall along with the amethysts.

Onyx: I've got 48 hours to to stop this annihilation...

Some flames appeared for a second around your body after mentioning the complete eradication of gems on earth.

Onyx: Or the soldiers who have fought honorably for homeworld will go up in smoke...

Your shadow began to grow with each step towards the peridot, who was completely paralyzed in fear. With each step, more and more flames started to appear around your body.

Onyx: And you... Are making... A REPORT ABOUT IT!!!

You finally transformed into your form of fire. But before you could strangle the perdiot, who was using her screen as a shield, you heard the sound of other buttons being pressed. The flames of your body died out in an instant and you slowly turned your head back. The other peridot was making accounts about every type of gem that was about to be destroyed on earth. She realized her terrible mistake and turned off her monitor.

Peridot2: Hehehe... I should be doing this later, right?

Onyx: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

(Meanwhile)(At Yellow's Diamond temple)

Yellow Diamond was doing her normal routine along with her pearl. But suddenly, she saw a great explosion of flames coming from your temple. Yellow Pearl fell to the ground because of the small tremor caused by the explosion while Yellow Diamond didn't cared too much.

YellowPearl: What in the name of the stars was that?!

YellowDiamond: That is Onyx with another of his anger problems.

YellowPearl: Should we do something about it, my diamond?

YellowDiamond: Don't worry about it. Let him get that out of his system.

YellowPearl: Okay...

(Back to your temple)

The two peridots were buried in the wall with the marks of ashes around the holes where they were. The reason you are so furious is because during the discussion with diamonds about the situation on earth ended poorly.

(Flashback)

You were in the throne room of the diamonds along with Ash. Neither you nor Ash could believe the decision of the diamonds.

Onyx: Obliterate every gem?! My diamond, that's madness!

(Don't do it... I know you guys T.T)

Ash: I must agree with master Onyx! Eliminating all gems is a big mistake, especially since our troops still outnumber the crystal gems!

WhitePearl: You dare to raise your voice in the presence of diamonds the diamonds?

Ash: My job is to help Onyx in everything I can! I know perfectly what our troops can do!

YellowDiamond: Stay quiet! You have no place in this discussion! Your place as a pearl is to keep quiet and talk only when ordered to do so!

Ash: I only-

Onyx: Ash, drop it already! 

Ash looked at the expression of concern in your eyes. She understood that you were worried that something might happen to her if she kept talking out of place. Ash turned her gaze to the ground with some frustration.

Ash: Yes... Master Onyx...

Onyx: Thanks... Now, I need to ask why you took that decision? Shatter the traitors is an appropriate punishment. But eliminating our troops in the process is not something logical to do. 

BlueDiamond: At first, our decision was to send a massive attack against the crystal gems to avenge Pink. But... But...

Onyx: But?

Blue Diamond was crying a little. Her powers started affect almost everyone in the room, with the exception of the white pearl, who was not being affected. Yellow Diamond and Ash were cleaning their tears while the tears on your face were evaporating before falling to the ground.

YellowDiamond: Blue, could you stop using your powers?

BlueDiamond: I-I'm *Sniff* sorry...

The white pearl stood in front of you.

WhitePearl: White Diamond discovered that the earth is a disease transmitter, so we can not send more troops there.

Onyx: What do you mean?

WhitePearl: Every gem that remains on the planet for far too long ends up rebelling against diamonds. If we continue sending more troops, we will only end up increasing the number of rebels on earth.

Onyx: Then start to evacuate our soldiers from that planet before eradicating the gems on earth!

WhitePearl: If we do that, we only run the risk of spreading that infection in our colonies.

Onyx: So that's it? Are we just going to sacrifice more than thousands of soldiers?!

YellowDiamond: Onyx... You are a good soldier. But sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get something.

WhitePearl: This meeting concludes here.

Onyx: But-

YellowDiamond: Onyx, we are done here.

After the meeting with the diamonds, you and Ash returned to your temple with a horrible feeling of frustration and anger. You were in the main hall of your temple and Ash was by your side. You were letting out your anger in the form of flames.

Onyx: Whaaaat!!!!

But you took a little breath and extinguished the flames around your body.

Onyx: Okay, fine, fine. I'm cool. I'm fine

Ash: You are clearly not, master Onyx. Just let me hide behind a wall before letting the rage out.

...

...

...

Onyx: God... Fucking... DAMN IT!!!

(Flashback ended)

After the guards removed the peridots from the walls, you finally managed to calm down a little. But you still couldn't remove the horrible idea of not being able to do anything to help the innocent gems that would be destroyed on earth. Including Lapis, who was probably still in your temple on earth waiting for your return. Ash was still on the balcony next to you. She could easily see that there was a burden on your shoulders with which you could barely deal with.

Ash: Master Onyx.

Onyx: Yes... Ash?

Ash: You promised me some answers.

Onyx: Ash... Now is not the time for-

Ash: Now is precisely the best time!

You were a little surprised by Ash's sudden change in attitude. She was literally going from being a calm person to demanding answers without any possibility of postponing the truth.

Ash: Since that battle against Rose Quartz you have been acting differently! I don't know what happened but I need to know what it is that is worrying you so I can help you! 

You were looking at Ash directly in her eyes. She reflected pure concern on her face and you remembered perfectly that you made a promise to Ash. You took a deep breath and let out a sigh.

Onyx: You probably want to take a seat. This story is a bit long and the truth may be very shocking.

Ash simply stood up while watching you closely. You started to tell what was wrong with you. You told Ash what happened the day of the battle against Rose and her true identity as Pink. Your decision of not participating directly in this war. The guilt you felt for shattering so many gems that they were just following the orders from another diamond. Basically, you told Ash everything you felt since you arrived to planet earth. Ash was surprised to hear Pink's identity but remained calm to not interrupt the story. When you finished telling the story, Ash was slowly processing everything.

Ash: My stars... 

Onyx: Pink is not dead, she used that lie to try to stop this war... AND GOD DAMN IT SHE WILL GET WHAT SHE WANTED!

You punched the wall in anger by making a hole in it. But instead of continuing to attack the poor structure, you simply laid your back against the wall while holding your head with both hands.

Onyx: I feel like I'm stuck in a false existence...

Ash: What do you mean?

Onyx: I obeyed Yellow Diamond's orders... She wanted me to destroy crystal gems, who were working for Pink Diamond. A diamond ordered me to destroy another diamond. I've been fighting soldiers who were only obeying orders... Was I fighting enemies or allies? Am I the enemy? How can I exist if I can't even recognize who I'm obeying and who I'm fighting?

Suddenly, you felt a hand on your cheek. You slowly looked up to see Ash. She had a sad smile on her face.

Ash: Onyx... It doesn't matter if you can't recognize an ally or an enemy. I want you to know that you can always trust me and that I will always be by your side when you need me.

Something changed for you in a second. Suddenly you felt more... Relieved. As if the horrible burden you had on your shoulders had disappeared. Suddenly, you felt something wet running down your cheek. You were crying... But this was different than Blue's powers. Your tears were pure and came from a soft place. This is an aspect that nobody would expect from the infernal gem. Ash cleaned the tears from your face with her hand. 

Ash: Now that I know the truth, I can't help feeling horrible for the gems on earth. I don't know what we can do to help them... Maybe we could tell the truth about Rose?

Onyx: None of the diamonds would believe us. They would probably shatter us for saying a blasphemy like that.

Ash: And what are we supposed to do? There are still ships on earth and the portals to homeworld still work. But diamonds will not allow us to give the evacuation order!

Suddenly you came up with a crazy idea. This idea was really risky and you knew there would be many risks... But it was probably the only option.

Onyx: Ash... You said you'd be by my side when I needed you, right?

Ash had a determined look on her face.

Ash: I will do whatever it takes to help you, Onyx!

(Note: I wanted you to pay attention to detail that Ash no longer addresses Onyx as her "master". I want you to think about it a bit and make your own conclusions about the development of this character :D)

Onyx: Good... I have a plan. But to fulfill this plan, I need you to call here that Emerald that was the captain of the ship with which we traveled to earth.

Ash: The Emerald? Why?

Onyx: Ash... This is the plan.

(Time skip)(Two days later)

Right now, you and Ash were inside the main ship of the homeworld fleet. Inside the main ship were the three diamonds. Yellow, Blue, and... White. You had only seen White Diamond once and that was when Yellow Diamond introduced you as her best creation. Suddenly, you started walking out of the cockpit. But a Jasper turned her attention to you.

Jasper: Where are you going, general? In a few hours we will be able to see all the crystal gems become dust.

Onyx: At the cost of our own troops...

Jasper: Those soldiers were weak and pathetic. They could not stop a stupid rebellion and that's why my diamond was destroyed! They deserve what is about to happen to them!

Onyx: Get out of my sight... The only pathetic gem here is you. You can't appreciate the effort of other soldiers on the battlefield.

Jasper was enraged after hearing those words. She was clenching her fist tightly.

Onyx: Try it... I'm sure you will enjoy the consequences of a betrayal in a trial.

Jasper was furious but got out of your way. 

Onyx: That's what I thought...

The other gems on the ship's control panels were nervous that a battle would erupt between two of homeworld's greatest military powers. You left the cockpit while remembering the steps of the plan...

(Flashback)

Onyx: Since the diamonds will not allow us to give the evacuation order, I will give that order with my own authority.

Ash: But that-

Onyx: That would be to commit treason, I know.

Ash: Did you crack your gem?! The diamonds will shatter you!

Onyx: Ash... There are times that to achieve something you have to sacrifice something.

Ash was on the verge of tears. But she stayed strong and respected your decision.

Ash: And h-how will you manage to give the evacuation order?

Onyx: First, I will have to go to the communications room of the main ship.

(Flashback stopped)

You were walking through the corridors of the ship while gems such as guards or engineers moved out of your way.

(Back to flashback)

Ash: But there will be guards at the door who will notify your precense when they see you.

Onyx: It's there where our friend Emerald enters the plan. If there is something that emeralds love are ships. Each captain wants a better, bigger or faster ship. She will agree to cooperate if I promise her the best of the best.

(Flashback stopped)

Emerald was talking with two amethyst soldiers who were blocking the communications room.

Amethyst1: You need us to do what?

Emerald: I have orders from General Onyx. He wants you two to move some crates in the cargo room.

Amethyst2: Move stuff? Why would he order that?

Emerald: Shatter me if I know. Look, the last time someone disobeyed his orders, that gem ended up becoming his training toy. Unless you want to go from being guards to pieces of dust with ashes, I suggest you two shut up and obey the general's orders!

Amethyst1/2: R-Right!

The two amethysts ran towards the cargo room while Emerald walked away from the communications room with a smug on her face. She knew that her reward was already in her hands.

(Emerald is quite cute :V)

(Back to flashback)

Ash: And once inside the communications room, what will you do?

(Flashback stopped)

You opened the door of the communications room. All the peridots of the room turned around, directing their attention to you.

Peridot: General Onyx? What are you doing here? Do you need something?

Without any warning, you took your sword from your gem and started attacking all the peridots before they could react or ask for help. You made sure to not damage any of their gems, just poof them back inside. Once you got rid of all the peridots, you sat in a chair in front of one of the communication panels. You looked at the time on the panel to confirm something...

Onyx: Ash... I hope one day you will be able to forgive me for this.

(Back to flashback)

Onyx: Ash... There is a risk that you will be punished too for my actions.

Ash: I do not care! I'll be where you need me!

Onyx: That's the problem, Ash! I need you safe! 

You put both hands on Ash's shoulders.

Onyx: Ash... When the time comes, I need you to tell diamonds what I am doing.

Ash: What?! There is no way I would do that!

Onyx: Ash, I don't want you to suffer!

Ash was crying. She was literally begging you to stop with her eyes. This only made your next action more difficult for you.

Onyx: Ash... As your master and general of homerold's military forces, I order you to betray me and tell the diamonds about this... 

Ash's heart was broken... The only thing she was able to say at that moment was-

Ash: Yes... Onyx...

(Flashback ended)

Ash was in front of the three diamonds. The diamonds were sitting on their giant thrones and their pearls were standing in front of their respective diamonds. The only exception was White Diamond, she had a curtain in front that covered her figure.

YellowDiamond: Why are you here and where is Onyx? He knows you are here?

WhitePearl: Are you here to discuss more about the infection on earth?

Ash: No... I'm here because I want to inform you about a traitor.

BlueDiamond: A traitor? What do you mean?

Ash took a deep breath. She was hiding all the fear she was feeling right now. A simple mistake and she would be crushed like an insect.

Ash: General Onyx... Plans to betray diamonds.

Yellow Diamond got up from her throne. Her face had filled with anger very quickly.

YellowDiamond: That's a false accusation! Onyx is my creation and the most loyal soldier of homeworld! He would never-

???: Attention to all the homeworld soldiers of the colonies on planet earth!

Yellow diamond and Blue diamond were completely shocked by what they were hearing. Your voice was resonating through the ship's communication channels and was being transmitted in the colonies on earth. Suddenly, Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond turned their heads back when they heard White move. White Diamond moved the curtains out of her way. White's light was reflected in Ash's eyes.

WhiteDiamond: Apparently this creation was defective in the end.

(Meanwhile)

You were in the communications room while transmitting your message to the earth.

Onyx: This is an evacuation order from General Onyx! The diamonds will blast the earth and eradicate every gem on the planet's surface! Use each portal, ship, or means of transport capable of evacuating our troops out of the planet before the attack begins! And Lapis...

You stood in silent for a second because you already knew what would happen to you in a short time.

Onyx: I'm sorry we can't see each other again... End of the transmission.

You finished your message for the earth and you could already hear the strong footsteps of the soldiers heading towards the communications room. 

Onyx: In th end... I became the only traitor here...

AAANNNDDD DONE!!!

I have to say two things here.

1: This chapter became my favorite chapter. This chapter started with comedy. But the plot of this chapter gradually became more and more gray. To the point that I actually got a little sad about what I had written... AND I KNOW HOW THIS WILL CONTINUE! 

2: I enrolled this book at the wattys awards! I honestly don't think I can win but I thought it would be fun to try. Can you imagine if I actually win? As if that would happen! xD

Anyway, I will have to leave you in suspense with what could happen until the next chapter.
