Erik took a step back; "What is this heresy?! Who are you?!" He asked, "I do not wish to harm the boy, but you want to fight about it... So be it!" The Crystal Gems all charged at once; Erik closed his eyes and braced himself for the impact of their weapons hitting his body, but it never came... Erik opened a eye to see Steven standing in front of him bravely, "Guys; you can't hurt him, he's my friend!" He protested; "Steven, how do we know that he's not going to betray us to... Them..." Pearl said before shuddering; Erik looked at them in confusion, "Who's them?" He asked in a rather perplexed manner. They explained that they were the Crystal Gems, freedom fighters from another world and that many years ago; they rebelled against Homeworld and won. Erik stood in complete silence; trying to comprehend what was going on. First; his ship was knocked wildly off course during a storm, then he found himself in a town where people used a strange energy source called 'electricity' and finally, he was being told that some of his new allies were not from this realm.

"Wait; then the giant hand..." He started before Steven cut him off; "Giant hand?! What giant hand?!" He asked; "The one that crash landed in my village many moons ago, why do you ask?" Erik replied confused; "That 'giant hand' that you speak of was a Homeworld ship!!!" Amethyst told him. "Hold on a second... So you mean that your kind tried to land in my village?" He asked as he, Steven and the Crystal Gems walked back to the beach house; "Well, did anyone come out of the ship and ty to attack you?" Garnet asked, "No, in fact; all I found was this..." Erik replied, motioning to his sword; in the middle of the it's hilt was a red gem, which seemed to glow in the sun. "That's a ruby..." Steven said; "So??" Erik asked, "How did you get that?" Steven said, trying to hold in his shock; "My fellow warriors and I were scouring the wreckage for anything interesting; when I found this gem lying on the ground among the debris. When I held my sword next to it; the gem suddenly attached itself to the hilt!" Erik explained. "You better stay with us Erik..." Pearl said smiling: "You've got a lot to learn..."
