(STEVEN'S POV)

As Jade stood up again to go back into her cave, she looked at me and flicked her tail in the direction of the cave, signaling me to join her, I walked over calmly, knowing I wasn't going to be in any danger with her around.

Once I stepped foot in the cave, the smell of smoke came rushing back into my nostrils, I coughed once or twice. My eyes started to water slightly, but I continued forwards. Jade came up beside me and shifted into her humanoid form, and walked towards the origin of the smoke and heat, she gazed at I quickly and turned and began to walk deeper into the cave.

She came back, carrying a small metal bucket with her tail. She came up to the fire and poured the substance onto it, putting it out with hisses and fizzes from the dying fire.

We sat there for a while looking at the dying cinders, it was slightly awkward. I felt it was like and eternity before I finally broke the silence.

"So! Um...What do you do for fun?" I asked as I shuffled my feet and rubbed my right arm, she looked at with her sky blue eyes and gave me a warm smile. "Well....Since the sun's setting, I usually go out and have myself a little flight!" She replied softly as her wings twitched in anticipation. My eyes widened, Was she gonna?.... "So why don't we?" I asked with my hope up high!

She looked at me and chuckled, "Alright! I'll take you!" She said as she walked to the mouth of the cave, "WOOO!!!" I shouted as I followed behind her.

She got down on her all fours and shifted into her full dragon form, I still couldn't help but be amazed at her magnificence. She look at me once again and tilted her head with a puzzled look on her face, she snapped her head back and turned back to the cave, and disappeared back into it.

"I wonder what she's doing?" I mumbled to myself.

She soon enough came back but this time with a long piece of rope in her mouth, I looked at the rope with a puzzled expression. She spit it out and looked up at me. "You're gonna need to hold on to something once we get high enough" she explained , I nodded my head to say that I understood, she gave me a smirk and sat on her haunches, she grabbed the rope and tied it around her neck a over her shoulders, she then let go the long end of the rope so that it rested on her shoulder, so it looked like a leash. I took a few steps towards her and then stopped and hesitated, "What if I fall?" I asked her, "That won't happen...Just hold on to the rope, even if you do fall, ill catch you!" She reassured me as she handed me the long end of the rope.

I took the piece of rope in my hands and Jade keeled down on one of her left front leg and swept her left wing to its full extent on the ground next to me. I gulped and shakily began to climb onto her back, I settled my self comfortably on her and never let go of the rope while doing so, she got off her leg and stood up, she turned her head so that I was looking at the left side of her face, she blue eye calmed my nerves a bit and her scar showed that she was capable of doing anything she put her mind to.

"Ready kiddo?" She asked me as she turned her head straight again and wiggled her wings in excitement. "Y-Yeah! Absolutely!!" She growled in pleasure as her head lowered and her wings started to beat against the ground to  get us up in the air.

Once, she reared up on her hind legs and beat them harder and faster

Twice, she started to lift off the ground slightly, her feet touched the ground for a last time and she pushed off the ground

Three times, it took her three beats of her wing for us to have lift off.

As I felt the air in my lugs get sucked out of me, I couldn't help but laugh. I cheered as I saw the tops of the Kindergarten canyon walls underneath us.

As we gained altitude, I glanced around and saw a breath taking sight. I saw the entire Kindergarten below, and then the landscape beyond that, if was colored with reds, oranges, and greens as the sun set on the horizon. I focused my attention back at the front of us, we were among the clouds now, they too we're colored orange, red, and yellow. I loosened my grip on the rope and stuck out my right hand to try and touch the clouds, unfortunately I couldn't. I heard Jade make a gurgling/ purring sound that I guess was a sound of happiness?

I placed my hand back on the rope and lifted my self to catch a glimpse of what was in front of us. I could make out the sun and parts of blue sky. I let out a gasp at the beauty, and then I looked back at Jade, "Thank you Jade..." I said as I sat back down and wrapped my arms around her neck. I felt my eye lids grow heavy as I stated to slip off into sleep.

The last thing that I heard before I went to sleep a as a gentle voice saying: "You're welcome Steven"
