Chapter Six: Justice
Ella's prov:
"So you work for Herobrine," Sabre asked me to clarify again.
"Yes Sabre," I groaned. "I've told you this countless times; I'm not lying!"
"I know," he replied. "It's just a little hard to believe."
"What is there not to?" I questioned. "my eyes are literally white like his, and you were there when... Light Steve..." I paused. Silence filled the room as we both stood in the middle. Sabre had allowed me to stay in the rainbow house for the night. I was very grateful since he didn't have my trust yet. Not only that, but I also didn't trust him. It was like putting an ocelot and a wolf in a small shed, with neither animal having a clue of who would strike first.
The silence broke when rainbow came up the stairs.
"I got some blankets and a pillow for you Ella," He held out the objects graciously.
"Aww Thanks sweetie!" I cheered. "I love your house by the way!"
"Thanks!" Rainbow took the compliment. "I made it all by myself! Although it does need some interior design..."
"I can help with that," I offered. "Remember the house we made together?"
"Of course!" Rainbow answered. "That house was big!"
"Well anyways," Sabre interrupted. "We should get to bed. We got a big day tomorrow."
"Right sorry," Rainbow yawned. "See you tomorrow Ella!"
"Right back at you Rainbow!" I answered.
Sabre started walking down after rainbow, since his bed was down stairs.
Before he walked down the stairs though he told me this, "Hey Ella?"
"Hmm?" I hummed while making my bed.
"Light Steve, the one we were talking about. I saved him," Sabre explained.
"Y-You did?" I stuttered in shock. I stopped what I was doing, and stood up to look at Sabre.
"Ya. Light Steve gave me his powers, and when he died I still had them. I used that power to get him back with a machine," Sabre explained. I just stared at him in disbelief. Then I looked down.
"Ella?" Sabre asked.
"Thank you..." I breathed. "I can't say that any better. I felt so bad... just... thank you."
"No problem," Sabre replied. "Our job tomorrow is sort of related to that though. I'll give you the details then. It's late."
"Right," I wiped my face a little. "See you then."
"Ya," Sabre started walking down the stairs.
After that conversation I just stood there for a few minutes, and then continued to make my pile of blankets to get some rest.
Huh. I guess a machine isn't so bad after all.
The next day...
I woke up to the sound of my phone alarm the next day, and went outside to wash my face in the lake beside the house. The sun was just coming up from behind the trees, and the lake sparkled with beams of light coming from the dusk sky just hitting it. I keeled down to cup my hands and fill them full of water.
"Good morning Ella," Rainbow greeted behind me.
"Oh, good morning!" I answered happily.
"Ready for today?" He asked.
"Almost," I told him. "I just need to wake myself up."
"I can help with that!" Rainbow offered. "Just close your eyes, hold your breath, and I'll splash you with water!"
"Well okay," I agreed. "I don't see why not."
I did what Rainbow told me and he used his water powers to wash my face. A few seconds of that and my face was clean.
B"Thanks sweetie," I thanked. "I feel much more refreshed. You really improved on water powers since the last time we saw each other."
"I did, but they still need time to work," Rainbow smiled. "Hey, Sabre woke up and wants us to help him with the machine."
"Alright then. I'll go with you there."
"He's not that far from here," Rainbow grabbed my hand. "Come on!" I followed Rainbow over a hill not far from the house. Sabre was just setting up.
"Hey! Good morning Rainbow Steve," Sabre beamed.
"Hi Sabre," Rainbow answered.
I decided to say hi too, "heya Sabre!"
"Oh hi Ella," Sabre seemed less happy to see me. I honestly didn't care. Sabre and I still needed time to warm up to each other.
"So the machine," I started. "You said you were going to explain the purpose of it?"
"Uh ya," Sabre answered. "So... you remember when I told you about how I saved Light Steve?"
"Ya?" I replied a little concerned.
"Well Shadow Steve isn't dead."
"What?" I glared. "How did you not kill him? I figured you would!"
"Hear me out," Sabre explained. "I did get rid of him, but Nightmare Steve brought him back with shadow stone."
"Shadow Stone?" I questioned.
"It's... very special stone," Sabre continued to explain. "Lucas, Rainbow Steve and I discovered where it came from in the nightmare dimension."
"Nightmare dimension?" I was really confused by then. "Rainbow can you explain all this to me while we work on this "machine"?"
"Sure," he accepted.
"Well anyways," Sabre continued. "That's why we're making this machine. We need to capture Shadow Steve so he doesn't cause more trouble for us. Oh Rainbow Steve your have your camera right?"
"Ya it's right here," Rainbow said pointing to a red dot. It was a built in camera hidden in the left side of Rainbow's sweater. Sabre had the same thing on his onesie.
"Oh so you're still recording things?" I asked. "I saw Sabre a couple times with a camera. I'm guessing you upgraded on that."
"We did," Sabre answered; Even though I wasn't talking to him. "The cameras were to big to lug around; Especially since we're always running most of the time. Lucas got these out of town for us. He's actually out on a business trip now that I remember." That explains how he's not here with us. I was a little disappointed with the news. I was really looking forward to getting to know Lucas.
So... should I ship Ella with Lucas? I was planning to, but I want to see your opinions. If you ship it can you think of a ship name? 😏😏😏 Oh oh oh!! I got one!! Ellaspike!! Thanks if you comment or agree!!
After Sabre did his little intro with Rainbow he introduced me to the camera. He said I was shown in his last video, and a video after that, but now it was an official introduction! Once the intro was finished we all got to work on the machine.
Rainbow explained all that happened while we were apart. I'm going to skip all the details and past events because you should already know that by now if you're a sky person, and it would take too many words in this book to explain.
"Hey Ella can you help wire the machine with redstone?" Sabre asked.
"Redstone?" I muttered. "Sorry, but that stuff hurts me."
"Redstone hurts you?" Sabre questioned.
"Apparently," a sighed. "It's one of the quirks to being part lore. My weakness is Redstone."
Hold up! Why am I telling him this?! This is supposed to be a secret! Okay, Calm down... maybe he'll forget about it. No wait IT'S RECORDED!!! I screamed in my head for that comment.
"Oh okay then," Sabre smiled. "In that case Rainbow Steve and I can take it from here. Right Rainbow Steve?"
"Sure!" Rainbow agreed happily. "We got this Ella!"
"Well Alright then," I accepted.
Rainbow Steve's prov:
We Finish wiring the machine minutes later after Ella stood out of the way. I should have remembered that Ella had that weakness though. She looked so uncomfortable talking about it.
The machine was a large square made up of lave, water, iron, and gold. Pistons were in the middle to lock Shadow Steve in, and redstone dust went around and over the machine with a lever hooked up. Lastly, we had a dirt pile as a hill to trick Shadow into thinking it was just a regular hill.
Our plan to catch Shadow Steve was simple. Sabre was going to try and lure him in by using himself a bait. I was going to give the signal to Ella, and as soon as I did that she would flip the lever; Catching Shadow Steve.
"Guys?" Ella hollered.
"You're right next to us Ella. No need to shout," Sabre leisured. "What is it?"
"I feel a presence," she told us. "And it's not Rainbow Steve I feel. Lores have a way of feeling other lores nearby."
"What are lores?" Sabre asked confused. "You say that a lot."
"There's no time to explain that Sabre," Ella said annoyed. "I think Shadow Steve is here!"
"He's here already?" I gasped.
"Well at least we finished the machine in time," Sabre reassured. "Everyone get into position. I'll go find him."
"Go it," Ella answered. "Don't die Sabre."
Sabre ran off without answering Ella. Ella ran to the lever carefully with the redstone around and I ran to a nearby rainbow tree to hide.
Sabre's prov:
I ran out into the open so Shadow Steve could find me better. It never occurred to me though about the fact that I never heard lightning from him. Then again he was a shadow. A small piece of Dark Steve that was left out of him, so that could be it.
It wasn't long after when I noticed foot prints in the grass around me. I didn't remember anyone running around in circles today, so there really only was one explanation for them. I played them off as part of the act, since I needed to convince Shadow Steve otherwise.
However I started to get nervous when he started walking closer; Placing redstone trails around me. I figured Now was the time to look scared. So I started running.
"Rainbow Steve!" I called. "Get ready!"
I knew Shadow Steve couldn't hear me so I had no problem calling out. Then again I wasn't too sure of that. After all Rainbow Steve could understand me after months of us being friends, but with Shadow Steve there was no problem.
I ran around in circles to convince Shadow Steve I had no plan. After running around the house I made my way towards the the dirt hill; Hiding the trap. The dirt was great because it gave us a way to see when Shadow Steve would hit the trap. His shoes would be covered in dirt by the time I ran over the machine.
I ran over the hill, jumped down and through the trap. Hopefully Shadow Steve doesn't notice until it's too late I thought. I noticed Rainbow Steve to the left of me, and Ella to my right.
"Wait for the foot prints to show on the gold block!" I yelled to the two.
As I was running I turned around to see if the plan worked. Suddenly I saw an outline of a figure. It was slowly becoming visible as it got closer to the middle of the machine. I noticed it was turning towards Ella.
"Hi Shadow Steve," Ella mocked.
"NOW!" Rainbow Steve yelled.
"Miss me?" Ella asked Shadow Steve pulling the lever.
Lightning struck the gold block and the machine was activated. Shadow Steve was now visible and standing in place.
"Sabre we did it!" Rainbow Steve said running towards me for a hug.
"Ha! We did!" I hugged back tight. Rainbow Steve lunged himself at me hard so he swung in my arms a little. "Finally. He's gone," I hugged tighter. "We don't have to worry about Shadow Steve anymore."
"You two look happy," Ella smirked.
"Oh you have no idea," I answered. "Shadow Steve was the biggest trouble I ever had. He's done more than hurt Light Steve."
"I'm just glad Light Steve got some justice," Ella sighed with relief. "But, what are you going to do with him now?"
"Probably get rid of him," I answered letting go of Rainbow Steve. "I have a good idea of doing that."
"Wait you plan on destroying him?" Ella stared.
Her eyes suddenly grew a tint of grey.
"Of course. What else should we do?" I asked. "Is everything alright?"
"Ya, ya of course," Ella stuttered. "I just... hope you do it right. I've had to deal with shadow steves before. It wasn't pretty."
"What do you mean "shadow steves"?" I questioned.
"Oh that's another story for another time," she reassured. "Don't worry about it. Just focus on Shadow Steve."
"Okay then?" I answered a little suspicious.
"Well I should really get going. It's actually getting late," Ella notes.
"Oh wow I didn't notice!" I gasped looking up. The sky was pure blue, and the sun was already above me showing it being around noon. "Ya it's 1:03 according to my phone," Ella looked up. "I'll see you guys soon?"
"Totally!" Rainbow shouted. "Bye Ella!"
"Bye Rainbow!" Ella answered.
They both hugged each other before Ella left. She pulled out a remote in her dress pocket and pushed a button; Creating a purplish portal. I gaped my mouth in shocked, and unfortunately forgot to say goodbye.
