14. Break My Heart Again

"So go ahead and break my heart again
Leave me wonderin' why the hell I ever let you in."

- FINNEAS -

Jeongguk knocked on Taehyung's door gently, "Tae? Can I come inside? I just wanna talk." He softly said. No one responded so he knocked once again, but louder.

"Taehyung? I want to make this right with you. I don't like it when you're mad at me..." The younger said.

"Please? Taehyung-ah..." Jeongguk sighed and leaned on the door with a pout. He glanced at the bouquet of flowers and Taehyung's favorite sweets.

Jeongguk really felt guilty and even guiltier when he heard his friends' feedbacks.

The sun is setting down lighting the neighborhood with a golden shade. His brown hair glowed and his features were more noticeable.

"Taehyung... Open up, please... I'm really sorry for what I said, I didn't mean any of it." Jeongguk said before letting a sigh.

He dreaded the thought of losing the elder. The younger despised the idea of them acting like a stranger. He won't forgive himself if ever that happens.

"Please... Let me in." Jeongguk said and sat on the doorstep of the elder's eerie house.

"Tae, let me talk to you. Please." He begged.

The door slowly opened, signaling the younger that he can come in. Jeongguk stood up hastily and went inside before closing the door.

Taehyung stood awkwardly while staring at his feet. Jeongguk gave the flowers and sweets to the elder. The silver-haired male accepted them hesitantly.

It was silent and definitely not comfortable, at all. "So... Uhh, I'm very sorry, Tae. I didn't mean to say all of the things I said last night. I acted very impulsively and immature. I wasn't thinking about what you're going to feel when I said those words. I'm very sorry, Tae." Jeongguk held both of the silver head's soft hands.

Taehyung bit his lips, heart fluttering. He just can't stay mad at the younger.

The brown-haired boy placed his hand on the elder's chin, making him look at him.

Taehyung's eyes were red and swollen. His nose was very red and his lips were bleeding. He bit on his lips so hard that it started to bleed without him knowing.

"I hate it when you're mad at me. I hate it when I do something that hurts you. I really regret what I did, Tae. Please forgive me." Jeongguk kissed Taehyung's knuckles softly.

Taehyung sighed, "Okay... Sorry for slapping you. Sorry because I didn't feel bad when I slapped you," he paused, "I was really upset when you brought her to our special cabin. I thought it's special, guess I was wrong." The silver head forced a laugh and pulled his hands away from the younger.

Jeongguk engulfed Taehyung into an unexpected hug, "I'm sorry, Tae. I'm so stupid to bring her there, I should've asked for your permission. The cabin is special to me, it really is! I don't know what got into my mind last night. I'm sorry, I won't hurt you ever again." He said and tightened his hold around the other male's waist.

Just the thought of you with her hurts me. You always hurt me yet I still love you.

Taehyung melted against the boy's warm and sincere embrace. He hugged back and nuzzled his nose on Jeongguk's neck, inhaling his perfume.

"I'm sorry, Tae. Please forgive me." Jeongguk said.

"It's okay. Apology accepted." Taehyung said and sniffled.

"Yey! Uhm... Tae?" Jeongguk pulled away and bit his lips nervously, "Can you help me with writing Jiyeon a poem?" He asked, unsure.

"Are you the definition of insanity? Or am I?"

Taehyung tensed, resisting the urge to sigh. He's tired. When he finally reckoned that the younger changed and at least hang out with him without mentioning her name, he does not even a minute after he apologized. Nice.

"Is it okay?" Jeongguk asked and Taehyung nodded wordlessly.

--

"What are you? A kid? You still use 'Flowers are red' and shit? We've been staring at this paper for ten minutes now." Taehyung whined.

Jeongguk pouted, "I don't know anything about this poem shit. Maybe I should search some in the inter--" he interrupts himself when he saw Taehyung stare at him blankly.

"Really? The internet?" The elder giggled, "Okay, whatever. Use your flowers are red and shit." He said.

"I've noticed that you're always cussing nowadays. You tend to swear whenever you're stressed or upset." Jeongguk spoke up.

Taehyung froze, "W-what?" He mumbled. Jeongguk sighed, "I'm your best friend, you can tell me anything." He said.

Am I supposed to be glad because I can tell you anything or be sad because I realized that I'm just your best friend and I can't tell you that you're the reason why I'm acting like this?

"I-I'm okay, what are you talking about?" Taehyung let out an uneasy laugh.

Jeongguk soughed, "I feel like you're keeping a secret from me nowadays. I'm here. If you're not okay, then I'm here. Let it out." He said and cupped the other's cheeks.

Taehyung's heart raced and he feels his cheeks heating up. Butterflies started to fly around his stomach happily.

Stop making me feel things when you don't mean it, Gguk.

"I'm fine, I swear." Taehyung reassured, "Come on, let's write her a poem." He changed the subject.

"I know it's not the truth when you said 'I'm fine'."

They penned the poem about Jiyeon and they're almost finished when Taehyung's doorbell rang, disturbing them.

The elder stood up to open the door while Jeongguk stayed on the floor where they're currently working on the poem.

"Oh, hi! Come in." Taehyung said with a grin. Minjae came inside after leaving his shoes outside. He hugged the silver head with a soft smile, not noticing the frowning brown-haired male.

"How are you? I texted and called you but you didn't answer, I thought something was wrong so I decided to check up on you." Minjae said after pulling away from Taehyung.

"Oh, sorry! My phone is currently charging inside my bedroom, I didn't hear it. Sorry." The smalled male said sheepishly.

"Nah, it's fine. How are you? Are you busy? I was thinking about going to the mall with you." Minjae said, still not noticing Jeongguk who stared at them with an unreadable expression.

"Okay, sure. But I still have to help my friend with writing a poem." Taehyung pointed at Jeongguk, "Oh, I forgot to introduce you to my friend... Minjae, meet Jeongguk. Jeongguk, meet Minjae. My new friend." Taehyung said awkwardly.

"Hi! So you're the person who hurt Taehyung last night?" Minjae asked, venom hidden in his voice.

"Minjae hyung!" Taehyung whisper yelled.

"Oops..." The eldest pursed his lips. Jeongguk raised his eyebrows, "When did the both of you meet?" He asked.

"Last night... I almost hit him with my car because he suddenly crossed the road while crying--" Taehyung squeezed Minjae's shoulder to stop him from saying more.

"You should take care of him, Jeongguk. Someone might get him from you, someone who he deserves," Minjae paused,

"Just kidding!" Or was he?

"It must be nice, to love someone who lets you break them twice."
