Chapter 7

"Bye, baby. I will miss you." Adam sadly says as he leans over to kiss his husband. But Austin turns his head and his lips landed on his cheek instead. "Yeah. Take care." Austin says and pats Adam's shoulder like how he would his friends. Chris hugs his brother.

They waited for Adam to leave before exiting the yard. Chris took Austin's hand as they reached the exit, unaware that a pair of anger filled eyes watched their every move. Tim looked around and Adam was nowhere to be found.

"Hey, Chance have you seen my "roomie"?" Tim asks. The guard laughed loudly. " I'm glad that you're embracing the idea. He went back to your "room", I think." Chance smiles. Tim briefly thanked him and walked away. "He seems to be really worried about Adam." Avi whispers from behind. "I would too. Adam is a fine looking man." Chance shrugs. Avi raised his eyebrows questioningly with a hint of jealousy. Chance chuckled and discreetly pinched Avi's butt. "You know what I mean."

Adam curled up in his bed, mindlessly playing with the hem of his shirt. "He was supportive at first until he visited with divorce papers. "He will get horny. He will find someone and will eventually forget about you." Tim and Avi's words resounded in his ears as he thought of Austin, how he acted so distant, almost like he doesn't care. He never acted that way towards him. But on the other side, maybe he's just uncomfortable being surrounded by murderers. Maybe he will adjust sometime soon. Maybe he was showing his real emotions while Scott was pretending all along. Maybe, maybe it'll all work out in the end.

"There you are!" Tim says, relieved. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you that I was going back here." Adam says. Tim smiles. "That's okay. I was just wondering where you disappeared to. I don't want you roaming around here alone." Tim picked up his book and plopped down on his bed. Tim is doing very well with his studies. He manages to ace all his exams but like many normal people, he dreaded Algebra in the same fashion that he dreads that place. "I'm done." He mumbles with a huff, throwing his book aside. As soon as he said those words, the lifeless image of old Jack came through his mind. He knew he's got to do something.

"Hey, Adam?" He says as he raised up from his bunk. "Yeah?" Adam answers quietly, his back still facing Tim. "Do you know anything about Algebra?" Adam turns around and smiles at him. "I was a post graduate student in MIT." Tim's eyes widened in amazement. "Wow. Really? Does that mean you're good at adding numbers and letters?" Adam giggled. "I guess."

Adam hops off of his bunk and sits on Tim's bed. Tim sat down beside him. Looking at Tim's computations, he saw one mistake that was keeping him from getting the right answer. "You got the formula wrong. You must start at the first digits on both. This is a very simple problem. Let me show you." Adam says.

Tim's eyes were fixated on his Adam's face. He clenched his teeth as he thought of Chris and Austin holding hands. Adam doesn't deserve to be cheated on.

"Are you even listening!?" Adam scolded him. He pulled Tim by his collar, moving their faces even closer. "2x multiplied by 2x is 4x²..."

Tim zoned out yet again, his mind going to a different place as he stared into Adam's handsome face. With their faces in close proximity, Tim could feel Adam's body heat radiating, making him feel the things he has tried to suppress through the years. The other man is unaware of his effect on the long abstinent man.

"Tim?" Adam says, furrowing his eyebrows. Their eyes met briefly just a split second before their lips met. Adam moaned, surprised, but soon gave in. He gently laid his hands on Tim's chest, balling his fists on his shirt. Tim cupped Adam's face in his hands to deepen the kiss. He could tell that he's already hooked. This man could make things heat up in just seconds (no pun intended) The kiss is slow, and a bit unsure. Adam's sweet tasting lips moved shyly against Tim's, tasting his cigarette tainted mouth with an escalating intensity.

It's been a very long while for Tim and he could feel himself being dragged over the edge way too quickly. Tim took it a bit too far and started to push Adam on his back, making Adam realize what he is doing. Guilt consumed his mind as he thought about Austin. Isn't he the one cheating right now? Adam attempted to push Tim away, but felt powerless to do so.

Instead, the kiss slowed down on its own and they eventually pulled away, both breathing heavily. "I don't know what came over me. I'm sorry." Tim whispers, trying to catch his breath. He leaned over to kiss Adam just one more time. He's just so irresistible, not to mention that the last time Tim did anything was with his husband over eight years ago. Adam weakly nodded.

"Y-you try it." He says, handing the book over to the other man. Tim felt heavy on the inside. It's only been a few days since, and he might have scared Adam. He doesn't want Adam think that he's saving him to make him his "bitch". Instead of moving away like Tim expected him to, Adam remained sitting beside him, and they carried on their tutoring session, ignoring the newfound tension between them. Tim silently prayed that that wouldn't ruin a beautiful friendship between them.

"Uh, Adam, it's supper time." Tim called to his roommate quietly. They walked to the cafeteria together but with a distance. Although Tim did grab his hand once they entered the dining hall. Tim made Adam enter first to make sure that he wouldn't get groped or anything. "Thanks." Adam sat on a table right beside Avi's. Chance didn't see them come in. Adam tried to keep from smiling as he sees Chance look around before adjusting his collar to hide his hickeys.

Tim arrived after a while. They ate in awkward silence, way too quickly. They both didn't shower that night, just brushed their teeth and went straight to bed. They tried hard not to let the tension between them thicken but it's just hard. The attraction is very obvious. Those actions didn't go unnoticed by Avi and Chance. As they were getting ready for bed, Avi slipped to their cell as Chance talked to Adam.

(Tim's cell)

"Hey bud. You okay?" Avi asks his friend. Tim shook his head as he lit another cigarette. "I messed up, Avi. I kissed him." Avi's smile grew wide. "And you're not happy about it?" "He wasn't interested. He didn't resist but maybe that's because he's afraid of me. He probably hates me now."

(Meanwhile, between Chance and Adam)

"What's wrong? You weren't... assaulted, were you?" Chance asked worriedly. He knew that Adam would be a frequent target because he's the new guy, not to mention his good looks. Adam sighed. "As a matter of fact, I was." "Really?!" Chance's eyes widened. "Yes. And you know what's so bad about it? I liked it. It was Tim. I kissed him back." With that Adam turned around.

He knew he's going to break down in tears if he stayed any longer. He gave Avi a small smile as he passed him by his cell. Adam wanted it as much as Tim. He knew he did. But thoughts about his husband won't leave him. Before he knew it, tears were streaming on his face. And he thought that it would be easy being roomed with a drop dead gorgeous murderer without cheating on his husband.
