Chapter 14

REQUESTED BY:  BjOaks

***********

"So, how is Avi feeling?" Rob asks as he and Chance make their way up the steps to Clooney's office.

"His fever broke last night. He was still asleep when I checked on him this morning." Chance says.

"You know we could get fired for this if we get caught." Rob states as they stop at the office door.

"Ain't nobody gonna catch us. The inmates are all still locked up and Clooney doesn't come in for another hour. So relax." Chance replies.

"Just make it quick." Rob says as he nervously looks around.

Chance unlocks the door and slips inside closing the door quietly behind him. Rob stays outside to keep watch.

Opening the filing cabinet, Chance flips through the folders until he found the one he was looking for:  FOUST, TIMOTHY R.

He thumbs quickly through the papers inside the file, chuckling quietly at Tim's mug shot taken eight years ago. His hair was a lot shorter and he had put on a few pounds since then. He finds the 'Contacts' sheet that all the prisoners had to have in case of an emergency. There was only one name listed, Dena Foust.

Chance quickly writes down her phone number and closes the file, putting it back exactly how he found it.

"You get it?" Rob asks quietly as Chance slips out of the office locking the door behind him.

"Yep." Chance whispers.

"Good, now let's get out of here." Rob says as they quickly head down to Cell Block B.

As they get back to the safety of their own Cell Block guard shack, Chance's phone begins to ring. Digging it out of his pocket, he looks at the ID: Ian McKellen.

"It's Uncle Ian." Chance smiles before answering the call. He talks for only a few minutes before hanging up."So what's up?" Rob asks sitting down at his desk after fixing him a cup of coffee.

"Oh, not much. Just that the sh*t is fixing to hit the fan." Chance chuckles as he reaches for some shackles.

"Ok? I don't understand. Who are the shackles for?" Rob asks.

"Tim. Uncle Ian wants to meet with him when Clooney gets here." Chance answers.

"Why?" Rob asks again.

"Clooney canceled Tim's GED testing. So I called Uncle Ian and told him. Needless to say, he wasn't very pleased." Chance says as he walks out of the guard shack.

On his way to 207B, he stops by 206B to check on his lover.

Avi smiles as he walks in.

"How you feeling this morning?" Chance asks, giving him a quick kiss.

"Much better." Avi smiles. "Thanks for staying with me last night."

"You're welcome." Chance smiles as he felt of Avi's face to see if the fever was completely gone and it was. "Sorry, I had to leave so early. I had some business that I had to take care of that couldn't wait til later."

"That's alright. I was just about to go eat some breakfast. I'm about to starve." Avi says as he puts on his snapback.

"Are your neighbors awake yet?" Chance asks.

"I don't think so. It's been pretty quiet over there." Avi answers.

"I need Mr. Tim." Chance says as he holds up the shackles.

"Oh, sh*t. What'd he do now?" Avi asks with a slight chuckle.

"Nothing, he just has a meeting with the Governor about his GED being cancelled." Chance answers quietly.

"Wish I could be a fly on the wall. But this fly is going to be eating." Avi laughs.

"Just be careful." Chance says, kissing Avi on the forehead.

"I will. See you later?" Avi asks.

"You can bet on it." Chance says before they go their separate ways.

Chance walks up to 207 to see Tim and Adam cuddled up together still asleep.

"FOUST! RUPP! Time to rise and shine." He laughs as he unlocks their cell door.

"Since when did we have an alarm clock that actually works?" Tim growls as he rolls over, pulling Adam closer to him.

"Get up. I have some nice accessories that you need to put on." Chance says, smacking Tim on the leg.

The comment causes Tim and Adam to finally open their eyes. Tim's eyes widen as he sees the shackles.

"What the hell for? I haven't done anything." Tim says sitting up quickly on the side of the bed.

"Chance, what's going on?" Adam asks, sitting up next to Tim and rubbing him gently on the back.

"Well, it's a prison rule that if you go to see anyone such as the warden or the GOVERNOR, you have to be shackled." Chance says with a smirk.

"Governor?" Tim asks with furrowed brows.

"That's right. You did want me to call him, Right?" Chance chuckles.

"Oh sh*t." Tim says, jumping up and grabbing his clothes to put on.

"So it's about his GED?" Adam smiles.

"Yep." Chance nods.

Tim hurriedly gets ready then sits down on the bunk for Chance to put the shackles on him.

"God, I hate these things." He says as Chance finishes.

"I know, but this time it's for a good reason." Chance says with a smile.

"Only if he rules in my favor." Tim says.

"Of course, he will." Adam says, slipping on his pants. "What Clooney did was wrong."

Chance leads Tim out of the cell. While Tim was a few steps ahead of him, he turns and quickly slips his phone and Dena's phone number to Adam.

"The reception is a lot better in the yard." He whispers.

Adam nods, slipping the phone and number into his pocket, he follows them out of the cell.

"Good luck." Adam whispers near Tim's ear as he gives him a huge hug and a kiss.

He watches them walk toward the stairs then runs back inside the cell to finish getting dressed.

Tim stops at the closed door of the conference room to take a few deep breaths. Not only was he a nervous wreck but it's not easy coming down stairs wearing shackles.

Chance opens the door and Tim walks slowly inside.

"Good morning, Mr. Foust." The Governor smiles.

"Good morning, Governor McKellen. Please, just call me Tim." Tim smiles. He glances around meeting the annoying glare of the warden.

"Please, have a seat and let's get started." Mckellen motions to a chair.

Tim sits down and Chance takes a seat over in a nearby corner of the room.

"I received information that your rights to GED testing was taken away from you, am I correct?" Asks the Governor.

"Yes, Sir." Tim answers.

"Do you have any idea why?" Ian asks.

"Yes, Sir. Revenge." Tim answers as he glares over at Clooney.

"Revenge?" The Governor asks but sees the look Tim gives the warden. "Tim, what made you decide to get your GED?"

"I quit school when I was 16. I was a total disappointment to my mom and then I got sent here. So you can imagine how she feels about me now." Tim sighs. "Then my cellmate at the time, Jack Dutton made me promise to get my GED to give my mom something to be proud about. So for the last few months, I've been studying my ass off and I've taken a few test."

"And everything has been alright until now?" Ian asks.

"Yes, Sir. Up until my new cellmate came in. Adam Rupp." Tim couldn't help but smile at the name. "We hit it off great."

"Are you in a relationship?" Ian smiles as Tim blushes.

"Yes, Sir. I guess you could say we are. But he's married." Tim says with a slight frown. "He's so gorgeous but I wasn't the only one who thought so. Our dear warden apparently thought so too. And started coming on to Adam. I was furious. I went to see the warden and I might have threatened him with blackmail."

"You blackmailed the warden?" Mckellen asks with raised brows.

"Uh, yes, sir." Tim answers. He could he a light chuckle coming from Clooney's direction. "I told him that if he didn't back off and leave Adam alone, that I would get in touch with his wife and tell her about her husband having sex with the inmates. Not only has he tried to seduce Adam but also Avriel Kaplan and countless others. Promising certain privileges if they have sex with him. Then he drops them and moves on to the next.

"Those are all just nasty rumors, Mr. Governor." Clooney smirks and shakes his head.

"Oh, really?" Tim asks raising a brow. "Clooney, those noises that Officer Chance and I heard coming from inside your office was NOT you and Grassi playing checkers."

"Mr. McKellen, I was just trying to protect Mr. Rupp from getting involved with such a dangerous man. Foust, literally, beat a man to death for stealing a stupid picture. He's dangerous and should be locked away in Solitaire." Clooney says.

"You killed a man for stealing a picture?" Ian asks, leaning forward on his desk.

"Sir, that picture is my life line. It's a picture of my mom. Sir, I'm in here for life without parole. Looking at her sweet face every day keeps me from going insane. Yes, I did attack the man and he later died of his injuries. But her picture is back where it belongs." Tim says.

"He also attacked another prisoner, slamming him against the wall almost cracking his skull. If my guards hadn't tased him, he probably would have killed him too." Clooney adds.

"That prisoner was holding a f*cking knife to Adam's throat." Tim argued angrily.

"Uh, Mr. Governor, may I speak?" Chance asks standing from his seat.

"Please, do, Chance." The Governor says with a smile.

"Sir, I've worked Cell Block B from the day I started at this prison six years ago. So know inmate Foust pretty well. He is not a dangerous inmate as the warden says. I have more problems out of some of the other inmates more than him. He usually stays by himself and reads. I'm not saying he can't be pushed to his limits. Because he has. And then and only then do I have any trouble out of Tim. He's very protective of what belongs to him." With that Chance sits back down.

"Thank you, Officer Chance." Ian says then takes a few minutes to think about everything that has been said. "Whether or not, Tim is the ideal prisoner, I don't know. I'm sure he has lost it a few times which is probably pretty easy in a place like this. But that's not why I've been called. I was contacted because his GED privileges were taken away. Warden Clooney, if you feel there is a good reason to punish a prisoner and NOT because he won't let you seduce his boyfriend, there are countless other ways of doing it. NOT by taking his right to an education away from him. Tim? Who is the one in charge of your testing?"

"Dicaprio." Tim answers.

"I will contact Mr. Dicaprio, myself, and tell him that your testing will resume as soon as possible. The testing will be moved here to the conference room. Cause I know there is no love between you two and there will be fewer distractions if you test here away from the warden." Ian says.

"Thank you, Sir." Tim smiles.

"And Warden Clooney, consider this a warning. For no reason are you to interfere with any inmate trying to further their education. Do I make myself clear?" The Governor asks sternly.

"Yes, Sir." Clooney answers quietly.

"Good. Now, give me just a minute to give Mr. Dicaprio a call." The Governor pulls out his phone and turns his back to the others.

Tim could stop smiling. Adam was right. HE WON AGAINST CLOONEY!

"Ok." The Governor says turning back around. "Mr. Dicaprio will meet you here in the conference room tomorrow morning at the regular testing time."

"Thank you so much, Governor McKellen." Tim says standing up.

"Good luck." Ian says, patting Tim on the shoulder. "Now, I have to run. Got another meeting I need to attend." He shakes Clooney and Chance's hand before walking out.

"Let's go." Chance says, taking Tim by the arm.

Tim turns around meeting Clooney's glare.

"Check mate." Tim growls in a low voice.

                           ~~~ Meanwhile back at the cell ~~~
Adam quickly gets dressed and grabs a book from the dresser. He smiles as he sees that it's a poetry book. Tim never ceases to amaze him. He tucks the book under his arm and heads for the main gate. He had to do this fast because he had no idea how long Tim would be gone.
He walks up to the gate and rings the buzzer. The guard comes out and smiles.
"Well, Rupp. Where you heading? And where's Foust? Did you lock him in his cell?" The guard laughs as he starts to unlock the gate.
"No." Adam laughs. "He's in a meeting with the Governor. I thought I would find away to past the time while he's gone."
"What'd he do now?" The guard chuckles shaking his head, opening the gate.
"Nothing. It's about his GED classes that Clooney canceled." Adam answers.
"Yeah, I heard about that. That was pretty sorry if you ask me." The guard replies. "Welp, have fun."
Adam walks out into the yard and sits down at a table with his back to the guard towers. He would probably end up in 'The Oven' if they caught him with a phone. He opens the book as if he was reading.
He takes a deep breath as he slips the phone and Dena's number from his pocket. He was quite nervous, he had no idea what to expect. Would she hang up on him? Would she listen to what he had to say? Does she really hate her own son?
He presses the numbers with shaky hands. He lets go of a nervous breath as the phone begins to ring.
"Hello?" A sweet voice answers.
Adam's heart stops as he tries to get words to form.
"Uh, is this Dena Foust?' He finally manages to say.
"Yes, it is?" Dena answers with a question.
"Mrs. Foust, you don't know me. My name is Adam Rupp. I'm a prisoner here at the prison. I'm cellmates with Tim." Adam says, truly expecting to hear a dial tone.
"Tim? Has something happened to my son? Is he alright?" She asks in a panic.
Adam was floored by her questions. So she does care?
"Tim is fine, Mrs. Foust." Adam informs her. "Except for the fact that he misses you."
"Really?" Dena says in a small voice. "Oh, God. Mr. Rupp, I miss my son terribly."
"But, Tim thinks you hate him." Adam says in a confused voice. "He told me that you said you no longer had a son."
"If I could only take those words back, Mr. Rupp, I would." Dena says as a tear rolls down her cheek. "I love my son. I was angry and disappointed in him for doing such a horrible thing. Even if Matt was a whore. Everyone knew it, except for Timothy. When he saw it for himself, it drove him over the edge."
"He doesn't hold any hard feeling toward you. He loves you very much. As a matter of fact, he has a faded picture of you hanging on the wall next to his cot. He stares at it every night. And during visitation, he watches the gate. Hoping to see you come through it, silently crying when you never show." Adam tells her.
"I am so ashamed of myself. I was too embarrassed to even show my face." She says.
"Mrs. Foust, Tim needs you. He needs to know that someone still cares." Adam says softly.
"I do care. I love my son very much." Dena replies.
"Then, prove it to him. Show him that his mother still loves him." Adam says in desperation. "Visitations are on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Please, Mrs. Foust. I hate seeing the hurt in his eyes when no one shows up to see him."
There was silence on the other end. Did he pressure her too much?
"I'll be there." Came her answer.
"Promise?" Adam asks a huge smile growing on his face.
"I have to see my son. I have to tell him how sorry I am and pray that he forgives me." Dena says.
"He already has." Adam answers.
After ending the call with Dena, Adam heads quickly back inside. Hoping that he beats Tim back to the cell. He couldn't stop smiling.
He practically runs back to the cell. Seeing that the cell was empty, he looks inside Avi's cell to see him playing a game of Solitaire with a deck of cards that Chance had given him.
"Hey, Avi? Has Tim got back yet?" Adam asks, hoping that Tim wasn't out looking for him.
"No, they haven't gotten back yet." Avi answers, never looking up from his game.
"Okay, thanks." Adam lays the book back where he got it and sat down to wait.
Voices broke him from his thoughts. Looking around at the door, he sees Chance removing the shackles from Tim. Both men were wearing huge smiles. It must have gone well.
"Adam?" Tim smiles as he steps inside the cell.
Adam stands up smiling at how happy Tim looked.
Tim grabs him into a hug, swinging him around.
"Whoa!" Adam laughs. "The meeting went well, I presume?"
"I go back to testing in the morning." Tim says, setting Adam back down on his feet. "I can't believe we won."
"I told you." Adam laughs and kisses Tim.
The kiss turns passionate very quickly. Adam tries to ignore the rumbles coming from Tim's stomach as he starts to unfasten Tim's pants.
Tim breaks the kiss and takes hold of Adam's hands, stopping him.
"Patience. All things come to those who wait." Tim smiles.
"Alright, Socrates." Adam frowns.
"Well, actually." Tim chuckles. "A British novelist and poet by the name of Violet Fane wrote that."
"You definitely read way too much." Adam huffs. "Let's go eat."
