Chappy 26

Six days have passed ever since the internship began and the last day of (Y/n)'s internship saw her bidding Sir Nighteye goodbye.

"Thank you for taking care of me and thanks for everything. I really owe you a lot," (Y/n) said as she bowed down in appreciation to Sir.

Sir Nighteye smiled and fondly patted the girl's head. "You don't owe me anything, besides I was only helping you. Being a guide to future heroes is my job."

(Y/n) straightened up and returned the smile. "Really, thank you. I learned a lot from you and I don't think I'll ever be the same again."

"Well, it was made possible by your determination and quick learning. But now, I'm confident that after all that training, you're now free from the chains that held you back."

It was true, they had spent countless hours brutally training, with Sir helping her face all her obstacles. At first, the male inquired from her about the origin of her hesitation and she told him. After that time he helped her open her eyes to her parents' 'mystery', she had grown to trust him, therefore sharing some of her past with him. This trust grew into a close relationship between them as the girl trusted Sir to help her overcome the things that held her back. And he did.

In the end, (Y/n) couldn't help but feel accomplished. She felt like her old younger self again, exclude the superiority complex. She felt stronger, fearless and lighter in both body and mind.

And it was all thanks to Sir Nighteye.

In his case, he had never had a more memorable student. He had grown very fond of her and actually sometimes, he almost saw her as the daughter he never had. Seeing her leave for her town brought him sadness which he didn't show. Even though he wouldn't admit it, he would miss her greatly.

"You know, to be honest," (Y/n) chuckled nostalgically as she remembered her first day in training. "Apart from the time you're beating up my ass, you're actually a great teacher."

"And I'm honored to have you as my student as well," Sir bowed courteously, making (Y/n)'s heart swell in pride and joy.

"Thank you, Sir. It's been an honor too," the girl smiled. "I should be going now."

Sir straightened up and nodded. "Yes. Have a safe journey tomorrow."

"Thanks again. Bye!" she waved at him as she turned to leave for the motel.

Sir nodded once and turned to go back into the agency. (Y/n) stopped and looked at him over her shoulder, a sad smile on her lips as she realized she was going to miss him. During the time they spent together, to her, he almost seemed like, dare she say it, a father to her. Of course, she'd miss him.

Before she faced back in front, she caught a glimpse of something at the corner of her eye. She turned fully and lifted her head to look up at the tall agency building. Behind one of the windows, she could make out Kaoruko, who was waving frantically at her. She seemed to be saying something but (Y/n) couldn't hear or make it out.

Kaoruko seemed to realize this and settled for waving instead. (Y/n) waved back at her newfound good friend, sad that she was also leaving her. Kaoruko then made a heart shape with her fingers, a big grin on her lips. (Y/n) giggled and placed her briefcase down before mimicking Kaoruko's action. Kaoruko opened her mouth in laughter and placed her fingers next to her ear in a 'call me' sign. (Y/n) nodded and gave her a thumbs up before waving again.

The blue-green haired girl waved back and turned away from the window. (Y/n) sadly sighed and picked up her briefcase as she began her journey back to the motel.

"Okay so, like nothing ever happens in this town. Villains are unheard of. Zero, zilch, nada. The only people I've had the privilege of hitting is thieves and petty thugs. I mean really? You'd think that since this city is so huge, there'd be a ton of villains but it's actually the opposite."

"That's because a lot of heroes are based there. Did you expect to fight villains?" Shouto asked the girl, his voice still sounding interested even after talking for almost an hour with the girl.

"Well, no. Okay, maybe a little bit. It's not like it's boring here or anything. I just have all this energy I want to release, you know," (Y/n) explained as she shifted herself to sit more comfortably with her back leaning against the bed's headboard. She crossed her ankles in front of her and wiggled her socked feet.

Shouto hummed in understanding before speaking. "If you do then, how about I take you out when we go back to (town)? To release all that energy? You seemed to like paintballing a lot."

(Y/n) rolled her eyes in amusement and giggled. "I'm not talking about that."

"But you do want to beat people up, right? Shooting people is also acceptable."

(Y/n) facepalmed while chuckling. "I really can't with you."

"Why? What did I say?"

(Y/n) shook her head even though he wouldn't see it. "Never mind that. Anyway, remember Kaoruko, Bubble Girl? The one I was telling you about the other day?"

"Yeah."

"Okay so, one time, we..."

Katsuki barged into (Y/n)'s room, his eyes immediately locating the girl sitting on the bed while talking to her phone. (Y/n) only glanced at him, already used to him entering her room without knocking so much that it didn't surprise her anymore.

Over the past week, many things had changed and one of them was Katsuki's and (Y/n)'s relationship. They had gotten closer due to spending a lot of time together after their internships. They would go out to explore the town, talk till late at night, steal each other's belongings, and fight sometimes, okay most of the times. But it was all in good fun. They were almost practically best friends at that point, much to Katsuki's satisfaction.

The male slammed the door shut before walking towards the girl.

"What was that?" asked Shouto, who clearly heard the bang from the other side.

"Oh, it's just Katsuki," the girl simply answered while rolling her eyes at Katsuki. Her eyes briefly went up to his hair, which was stuck in the style Best Jeanist had forced him to wear and she bit her lip to stifle her laugh.

The male frowned back at her and sat on the edge of the bed, lying back down as he laid his head on her lap. (Y/n) giggled silently as she looked down at him, with him staring up at her.

"What's he doing in your room?" Shouto inquired, his voice already changed to a dark and jealous one.

"He's just hanging around. Don't worry, he isn't doing anything...Katsuki-ish," the girl responded, giggling at Katsuki's glare at her. She lifted her hand and covered his eyes with her palm, only to have him swat it away, causing her to laugh.

She then remembered that she was on the phone and that she hadn't heard what Shouto had said. "Oh sorry, what was that again?"

Shouto sighed at the other end and repeated his words. "I said, I hope you remember when I said that if he tries anything, be sure to tell me."

(Y/n), who was still trying to cover Katsuki's eyes while the ash-blond kept swatting her hand away, giggled mindlessly. "Okay. I will."

"Why are you laughing?" the dual-haired male inquired, his jealousy increasing tenfold at the thought of Katsuki actually making (Y/n) laugh.

"Hmm? Oh, it's just Katsuki," she responded and suddenly burst into laughter when the ash-blond grabbed her hand. "Let go!"

Katsuki placed his free hand over her captured one, smoke seeping from it as he smirked up at her, threatening to detonate an explosion on her hand. This only made the girl laugh harder as she tried to pull her hand away.

"What is he doing to you (Y/n)?"

She giggled. "Nothing, he's just playing," her voice then fell into a whisper. "Katsuki, stop it!!" she sighed when he didn't release her hand and turned her attention back to the call. "Uh...can I call you back? I promise I will."

The dual-haired male sighed, defeated as he knew that he couldn't do anything at the point and only trust (Y/n). "Okay fine."

He hung up and the girl tossed the phone beside her on the bed, before grabbing Katsuki's hand and trying to pry it off hers. The ash-blond immediately let go of her hand without so much as a struggle, a smirk on his face at his accomplishment of successfully taking (Y/n)'s attention from Shouto to him.

"Get off!" the girl chuckled as she pushed his head off her lap. The male sat up and the girl crawled off the bed, heading to the bathroom.

Katsuki made himself comfortable on her bed, fully lying on it as he waited for the girl to get out. When she emerged back into the room, he propped up on the bed, supporting himself back on his elbows as he looked at the girl.

"Change. We're going out," he commanded, his eyes still glued onto the girl.

"Where are we going?" the girl said in a sing-song voice as she headed towards Katsuki. She then faked a gasp. "Don't tell me!" she held up a finger. "Ryōgoku Kokugikan right?" she shook her head when Katsuki gave her a blank look. "No, no, don't tell me! Purikura no Mecca," she frowned and shook her head once more. "But we did that on Thursday, so no," she gasped once more, her face lighting up. "Cat café MOCHA?" she clasped her hands together in front of her. "Please tell me we're going to a cat café today!"

"Better. Now shut up and change. Meet me outside in five minutes," he said, before standing up and walking to the door.

"Five minutes?!!" the girl exclaimed at his unreasonable command, looking at him in horror. "That's not even enough to pick an outfit! Or even open my bag for that matter!"

"And do I look like a give a shit!! If that's the case then I'm leaving your ass behind!!" he snapped before exiting and slamming the door behind him.

(Y/n) scoffed.

I'll show you five minutes, chump.

45 minutes later***

"(Y/n)! I swear to God, if you take one more fucking minute in there, I'm gonna fucking break this door down!!" Katsuki threatened for the tenth time while banging his fist on the girl's door.

The door finally swung open, revealing a smug (Y/n). "Calm down, side part boy. I'm already done."

Katsuki gritted his teeth at the usual nickname the girl had been calling him for the past three days.

"Don't fucking call me that, you piece of shit!!"

(Y/n) covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. "I honestly still can't take you seriously with that hair. I'm sorry."

Katsuki growled in rage and scoffed. It was then he noticed what she was dressed in a simple black dress that hugged her curves. She also had on a similarly black leather jacket and some black sneakers. His crimson eyes raked over her appearance, his cheeks slowly reddening at her stunning look.

(Y/n) noticed this and twirled around. "Like it? I bought it with Kaoruko. Awesome right?"

Katsuki only cleared his voice as he tried to mask his flustered state. He clicked his tongue and his eyes looked away from her.

"Yeah, whatever," he muttered lowly before grabbing her arm and pulling her towards the stairs. "Let's just fucking go. We're already late thanks to you."

"Are we going to a movie?" (Y/n) asked excitedly, a grin on her lips.

"Will you shut up?!" the male shot back at her over his shoulder. "It's a surprise."

"Wow, what kind of surprise?"

"Shut up!!"

***

"We're taking a train to Kyoto? Why?" (Y/n) asked the ash-blond standing beside her at the train station in puzzlement.

"Because, it's part of the surprise," the male rolled his eyes as he awaited the train impatiently. He kept checking for the time on his phone as if he was timing something.

"Why do you keep checking the time? Plus, it's almost three hours to Kyoto and where did you get the money?" the girl continued pondering him with questions, her curiosity gnawing at her.

Katsuki shoved his phone back in his pocket while groaning in annoyance and turned to her. "If you shut the fuck up, maybe then your answers will be answered!"

(Y/n) narrowed her eyes stubbornly at him and crossed her arms over her chest. "How's that even supposed to wo-"

"Shut up!!"

***

"Okay, we're here and I kept quiet from Tokyo till here. Now will you tell me why we're here?" the girl inquired, glancing at the male in hopefulness that he'll answer her question.

"Just follow me," he muttered as he continued walking, not even bothering to look at the girl.

(Y/n) sighed in defeat and chose to wait, even though she was very curious as to why they traveled all the way to another city. Though, one thing she noticed as she walked with Katsuki, was that many people seemed to be heading towards the same direction they were heading to. They were also carrying brochures with them and this also sparked curiosity within the girl but she decided not to be vocal about it anymore and piss off Katsuki.

After a while of walking, they arrived at the entrance of a large gate to a temple. They stopped in front of it as (Y/n) took in the sight of the numerous people who were entering it. Realization then dawned on her face, her eyes widening as her mouth fell open. She turned to the ash-blond with a shocked expression, who was staring at her in nonchalance while waiting for her to put two and two together.

"Oh my God! Is this Takigi Noh*? The girl pointed at the large Heian Jingu Shrine visible from the gate. "The Takigi Noh, the festival of bonfires?"

"What do you think, moron?" he shot back as he shoved his hands in his pockets.

(Y/n) gasped and whispered to herself in bewilderment. "I've always wanted to come here!" she then turned back to Katsuki. "Wait, why are we here?"

The male sighed and glanced at the people entering the shrine. "Think of it as a late birthday gift. I couldn't give you sooner because the stuff was today."

The girl's mouth almost dislocated from its jaw at his words as she struggled to form coherent words. "Birth-birthday gift but, you didn't know I was going to choose Tokyo for my internship."

Katsuki rolled his eyes. "I planned it after you told me, you idiot. Besides, happy fucking belated birthday."

(Y/n) tried to catch on to what's happening, her mind still reeling at his sudden thoughtfulness. She could actually feel her heart warming up, almost as if she was so touched by his gift. No one had ever done such a thing for her. It was just so...

Wow...

"Katsuki I...I don't know what to say..." she drawled off as she stared at him in bewilderment, a small smile playing on her lips.

"Then don't," he responded, his heart overjoyed that he actually managed to get that kind of reaction from her.

"Come on," he added, jerked his head in the direction of the entrance. "Let's go get the best seat before it starts."

He then proceeded to walk towards the entrance, leaving a still startled (Y/n) staring at him. The girl exhaled in disbelief and lightly shook her head, coming out of her bewildered reverie as she walked fast to catch up to the male.

As they went towards the seats, Katsuki began walking the opposite direction, confusing (Y/n).

"Uh...Katsuki?" She stopped in her tracks and gestured with a thumb at the direction to the seats. "The seats are that way."

"I know," the male looked over his shoulder at her as he continued walking. "I didn't pay for the tickets so we're not going to sit there. Besides, the best view is up."

A big question mark appeared in the girl's head at his words. She then shrugged and followed him, waiting to see what he'd do.

The male approached a large building and walked over to a tree that grew beside it. He easily jumped onto the nearest low branch and turned to (Y/n). He held out his hand for her to take.

The girl's eyes widened at this and she immediately shook her head. "Oh no no no no," she gestured to her dress. "This outfit is clearly not for climbing trees."

Katsuki clicked his tongue at her bratty attitude and glared at her. "Will you just take the fucking hand?!! No one is going to look at you!!"

(Y/n) sent him an affronted look. "That's not what I'm worried about, dumbass!!"

Katsuki growled at the girl as his patience ran thin with her. The female then rolled her eyes and took his hand, with him helping her up the tree.

"I fucking can't believe this. You should've told me to wear pants but nooo. You didn't. You're so unbelievable. Un-fucking-believable," the girl complained under her breath as she and Katsuki advanced up the tree to the roof.

"We're here, your Highness. Now stop whining," Katsuki muttered as he pulled her onto the roof.

(Y/n) mocked his face the minute he turned his back to her as he walked nearer the steep side.

The girl followed him, the sight of the stage set up and the lit bonfires coming to view. She could also see the people who had come to watch the performance taking their various seats. The two sat on the roof, directly opposite the stage, giving them a perfect view of it.

"Wow, you were right," the girl nodded in agreement, bringing her knees closer to her chest and wrapping her arms around them.

"Told ya," Katsuki smirked victoriously as his crimson-colored eyes remained glued on the stage.

Yep, everything was going perfectly.

***

The performance had already begun and was now two hours since it started. Night had begun falling and the evening was beautifully illuminated by the large bonfires surrounding the Shrine.

(Y/n) giggled at one of the actor's antics, her whole attention invested on the silent performance. The actors had masks on, and during the Takigi Noh, no sound would be made by the actors as they only relied on actions to convey the message and tell the story.

They were now on their third act of the festival, about two brothers who were rivals for their father's love. In some way, it reminded (Y/n) of a story she learned from the Bible back at the orphanage.

The act had many humorous scenes that made the girl laugh along with the audience. Katsuki, though, wasn't paying attention. He was busy listening to her laughs and his eyes would keep flickering past the side of her face.

The dark evening, together with the bonfires, made her face glow a beautiful shade of gold and made her look angelic and serene and Katsuki would stare at her forever if he could.

At one point, (Y/n) felt his stare on her and turned to look at him.

"What?"

Katsuki averted his eyes from her to conceal his scarlet cheeks. "You have a spider on your shoulder."

Terror immediately overtook her face. She shrieked and began frantically brushing her shoulder. She then noticed a small smirk on Katsuki's lips and she scowled at him. She lightly punched his arm and turned back to the performance.

"Don't do that, asshole."

"Piss off, dumb shit."

***

"That was so awesome!! I totally should've gotten an autograph from that one guy with the kabuki mask," (Y/n) chuckled as she skipped beside Katsuki.

They were walking among the large amounts of people who were streaming out of the shrine, all conversing about the performance.

It was already night, almost 8 pm. The two were heading towards the train station, which wasn't far from the shrine.

"Hey," (Y/n) turned to Katsuki after a period of walking of silence. "Once we get back to Tokyo, can we make one last stop somewhere?"

The boy turned to her. "Long as it doesn't cost shit."

(Y/n) smiled. "Don't worry. It won't cost a thing."
