Emma looks concerned as I walk back to the car. "Jace please, tell me what's wrong?" She follows me back to the car.

"I don't want to talk about it, please" I tell her.

The rest of the ride is silent and I don't like it but the pain is too much for me to bear.

When I get to her house she looks at me. "I'm sorry, Jace. I didn't mean to hurt you. Bye" she leaves the car and I watch her enter her house.

When I get home, I ignore everyone and walk to my room. I lock the door and walk to my desk.

I bring out my photo album that's filled with pictures of my dad and go to my bed. I plop down on my bed and open it.

"I messed up, dad" I look at a picture taken a week before his death.

I feel tears on my cheeks and I know I can't hold it in anymore. I don't think I'll go to school tomorrow but what about, Emma?

I pick up my phone to call her. "Hi Em, I don't think I'll be going to school tomorrow" I tell her quietly.

"Oh, I guess I could ask Kim" she tells me.

"Ok, bye" I'm about to hang up but she interrupts me.

"Jace, I'm sorry. And please feel better, bye" she hangs up.

I stare at my ceiling until I drift off to sleep.

It's all your fault, Jace. Today was his doctor's appointment but he canceled because of you. He had a heart attack because of you. He died because of you.

I wake up sweating in my bed and it's late. I check the time and it's 7:43. I head to my bathroom for a shower.

I put on boxers and a loose shirt and pick up my phone to text Logan.

Me *Hey Logan, I'm not coming to school tomorrow, alright?

Logan * What happened, dude?

Me * Don't worry about it and please don't call me tomorrow

I put on my TV but my mind is somewhere else. It's going to be a long night.

Emma
School today was weird without Jace and I don't know why. I couldn't stop thinking about his behavior yesterday.

What happened to his dad? Is he dead? Is it even because of his dad?

This morning Emily picked me up and we had lunch together again and I collected all her friend's numbers and I even collected Sarah and Bridget's numbers.

When I got home, I changed into black shorts and white top and a red jacket.

I told my grandma and my mum I was going to Jace's house so my grandma baked cookies and brownies because I told them he was sick.

Now here I am, a bag of freshly baked goodies in hand ringing the doorbell to Jace's house. No screw that mansion.

The door is opened by a maid and she smiles at me. "Hello, how may I help you?" She greets me.

"Oh hi, I'm here to see Jace" I tell her.

"Okay, please come in" she opens the door for me to come in. "Mr Williams is in his room. Shall I inform him you're here?" She leads me to the living room which is very big.

It has a very modern taste with black leather couches and arm chairs. A large flat screen sits on the wall with a home theater.

"No don't bother, I'll see him. Where is his room?" I look around the living room.

"It's upstairs, the second room on the left" she bows and goes to a room I'm assuming is the kitchen.

I head to Jace's room and I knock on his door. "Jace, can I come in?" I cross my fingers.

"Emma, yeah, come in" his voice sounds raspy.

I open the door and step into his room. It's really large room with a queen sized bed with dark green sheets and he's sitting on his bed.

It had a walk in closet and an en suite bathroom. Beside his bed was a desk with a laptop, a pen holder, and a few papers. There was also a large bookcase and a window seat. The rug and curtains were also dark green.

"Hi Jace" I smile at him. He's wearing sweatpants and a white shirt and his hair is uncombed.

"What's up?" He smiles at me. "Sit down" he pats the space beside him on his bed.

I sit down and hand him the bag. "I told them you were sick and my grandma is a good cook so she told me to give you these but we're sharing them" I bring out the cookies and brownies.

"Thanks.. um.. Emma, I owe you an explanation about what happened yesterday" he studies me.

I sigh, "Look Jace if you don't want to talk you don't have to" I take a brownie.

"Yes I do. Well my dad... died when I was 9" I gasp and drop the brownie I was holding.

"Well, we were at the water park and I was in the dressing room. When I came out he was unconscious. He had a heart attack" he tells me.

"Well my mom blamed me for killing him because he was supposed to have s doctor's appointment that day but he postponed it because of me. And I really loved my dad so I was devastated. I blamed myself so when you brought it up it hurt a lot because I still do" he tells me.

I can't resist it anymore. I reach out to grab him into a hug. He stiffens before hugging me back.

I remove myself from his hug and look at him. "Jace stop blaming yourself. Your dad did it because he loved you. It wasn't your fault and your dad knows that too" I tell him.

"Okay. Are you still hungry?" He asks me and I laugh.

"Nah, I can just take more at home" I push the brownies and cookies to him.

"So what happened in school today?" He munches on a cookie.

"Well, in chemistry, I explained everything to Logan and he agreed. I suggested we do it tomorrow and Thursday because we're to report it on Friday. And in gym class, coach said if you don't come to class tomorrow you'll be disqualified" I smiled remembering coach yelling at everyone today.

We talked some more till it was late, I have to go" I check my watch and its 6:23.

"Okay, let me see you off" he stands up.

He walks me to the door. "Bye, see you tomorrow" he smiles and hugs me.

"Bye" I walked back home really happy.

I walk to see my grandma and my mum talking but when they see me they smile.

"Um.. hey guys, Jace is feeling better. What were you guys talking about?" I look at them suspiciously.

"Nothing, honey" my mum says. "Oookay, can you please call me when it's time for dinner. Bye" I go to my room.

I think about Charlie and decide to call him.

"Hey Charls, what's up?" I greet him.

"Hey Ems, I thought you forgot all about me" I smile just hearing his voice.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that" I pick at a loose thread on my shorts.

"Okay, Mia told me about the prank. I like their style of thinking in your school. They expose your crush" he laughs.

"Haha, very funny Charlie" I roll my eyes.

"How do you like it there? I know it can never compare to Indiana" he asks me.

"It's okay so far. I made a few friends and I got picked to race in an event held by my school's rival" I say proudly.

"Wow that's nice but I have to go. Sophia's in a bad mood, bye" he tells me.

"Okay, bye. Say hi to Sophia for me" I hear Charlie's cute 3 year old sister before he hangs up.

I can't believe it. Jace asked me to go to a party with him today. Me and Kim are going shopping today. But it's going to be really quick since I have to meet the boys in Jace's house after for our project.

After school, Kim, Karen and I head to Kim's car and we drive to the mall.

Riri's Mall is this really big mall and that's where me and Kim are headed. When we get there I'm surprised. This mall is huge.

"Come on, let's go" Kim drags me in. Karen just laughs as she follows me and Kim.

We head into Macy's and begin shopping and I spot an adorable outfit.

"Omg, Kim, Karen you guys have to see this" I drag her to the outfit and their eyes widen.

Karen Grabs it and says dressing room she gives me the outfit and pushes me in.

After I few minutes, I come out of the dressing room and Kim hands me a pair of shoes.

"Wear these" she gives me and I wear it. "Omg, you look so sexy" she squeals.

Then she covers my eyes and leads me to the mirror. Wow.

"I'm so buying this" I grin. Jace is so gonna trip when he see's this.

"How much is it?" I ask Karen and silently pray it's in my budget.

"Well, the shoes are from me but it's $50.28" she tells me and I smile. Yes, luckily for me. I have $65.

"You guys, I'm going to change and when I come out I'll go pay for these and head home" I tell them and Kate points at my shoes

"Give me those, let me go pay for them" I remove my shoes and head to the dressing room.

When I come back, Karen has paid for the shoes. "Thanks for the shoes Karen. Bye guys" I head to the check out counter and pay for my clothes.

I leave the mall and take the bus home. I run in to drop my clothes on my bed and run back downstairs.

"Mum, grandma, I'm going to Jace's place to work on my report. Bye" I leave the house and head to Jace's house.

I ring the bell but this time it's Logan who opens the door. "Hi Logan. Have you guys started?" I enter the house.

"Yeah, we were just writing down our ideas. I'm thinking we cut out pictures of earth before and after and some other things" he tells me as he leads me into the living room.

One look at Jace and both of is burst out laughing. He seems to have glued his thumb and index finger together.

Hey guys, I might not update anything for weeks that's why I'm trying to update as much as I can for now.

I'm so excited for the next chapter because it has my first party scene. This chapter might have some mistakes because I'm in a hurry to publish.
