I should have known they pulled a prank on me, that's why everyone was laughing. Ugh! I hate this girls.

"Um.. I don't know" I look around but everyone is laughing. Where's Jace? Maybe he did it and he's guilty so he didn't come? Is that why they were chanting his name in the locker room?

"Miss Davies, please go and get another shirt" my teacher yells at me.

I walk very fast with my eyes on my feet and bump into a bulky figure.

"I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where are was going and--"

"Emma, what happened?" I look up to find Jace looking at me, concern clear in his eyes.

"For a moment I want to yell at him then I remember we're in class and I turn back everyone is quiet and staring at us.

"Everything's fine, excuse me" I quickly dodge and run away.

I head to the girls locker room and I sit down to think. Well, I guess it's normal for them to pull pranks on the new girls, right?

I stood up, changed my shirt and took a drink of water. I walked back to the field.

I took a deep breath and opened the door. Luckily for me everyone was running round the gym so no one noticed me enter.

I walked towards my teacher and cleared my throat.

"Oh, Emma join the group but you're still doing five laps because the team is in their second lap" he turns back to yell at innocent students. Sheesh.

I join the runners and they don't seem to notice me due to their own personal struggle.

I've always been quite athletic and so by the time everyone is done I'm in my last lap and everyone is looking at me as if I've grown another head.

After I'm done, the coach calls everyone together. "Everyone sit on the floor, now" he yells amidst all the murmuring.

"Now, everyone it seems as if our rival school, Hill Crest High, are hosting a racing event and I need the best runners we can get, so I'm picking the best runners today. 3 boys and 3 girls, alright?" He looks at all of us on the floor.

Everyone nods and the coach stars. "For the boys we have Joseph Ringer, Jace Williams and Harry Payne and as for the girls we have Sarah Styles, Harriet Slingman and Emma Davies" he calls my name and I freeze. Really?! Yippee!

I manage to avoid Jace for the rest of the class but after class I'm not so lucky.

I'm about to leave class when he walks up to me.

Um.. hey Emma, I heard what happened to your shirt" he seems embarrassed.

I muster up the courage to look at him. "Oh, that's nice" I say coldly.

He looks at me confused for a moment before panic crosses his face. "I didn't do it, Em. Why would I do that? Plus the girls pull a prank on all new students even the boys do it " He seems sad.

Maybe he's right but I can't think about that right now. "Alright, but that doesn't mean I forgive you. Why didn't you warn me though?"

"Because it would have taken all the fun out of it" he grins.

I narrow my eyes at him and he gets the hint. "I'm sorry alright" he smiles at me.

"Congrats on getting picked by the way. It's not easy to impress Coach Fisher but you did despite the fact that it's your first day and you got pranked" he raises his arms for a fist bump and I ignore him.

"Wow, we've not gotten there yet but it hurt here" he clutches his chest dramatically and I laugh.

"Come on. Let's go, drama queen" I roll my eyes and start walking.

"I'll see you at the car. You do know where it is, right?" He teases me.

"Yeah, I do and if I get missing I'll call you" I roll my eyes.

"See ya" I walk into the girls locker room.

Sarah, one of the runners walks up to me. "Hi, I'm Sarah" she smiles at me.

"I'm Emma" I open my locker. "Look Emma, about the prank don't feel bad. We do it to all new students here, it's like a welcome and we only wrote that on your shirt because we saw you guys together today" she looks at another girl beside her.

"I'm Bridget, the one who gave you that shirt because that's not your shirt. Here's your shirt" she hands me my shirt.

"How did you guys get my shirt?" I look at the two of them.

"Well, we switched it in your History class while you were distracted" she grins.

"Okay, I thought I already had enemies" I sigh in relief.

Bridget's smile disappears, "Oh no, you do have enemies. The Regina George of our school -" "Likes Jace and will make it her mission to make my life miserable. Where's my Janis?" I cut her off.

Sarah laughs, "You definitely know your Mean Girls."

"Well, we'll get going now. Bye" they leave me to change.

After school, I head to Jace's car but he's not there yet so I use the time to text Mia.

Me *Hey Mia, you done at school

Mia *Yep, I was just heading home

Me *Can you believe the girls pulled a prank on me? They switched my gym shirt

Mia *Okay what's wrong with that?

Me * "I love Jace" was written at the back

Mia *How did you not see that? It's pretty funny though, I wish I was there to take a pic of your face when you found it :)

Me *You're such a good friend (note the sarcasm)

Me *But they told me they do it to everyone new that it isn't personal

Mia *Oh okay

Me *Plus I was picked to race for a racing event being held by my schools rival

Mia *Whoa! On your first day, that's big

Me *Ikr! I also made three new friends

Mia *Emma Diana Davies, if you dare replace I'll kill both you and your new bestie

Me *I'm not replacing you Mia, calm down. Sheesh

Me *You know me so well. He told me but I didn't really believe until Sarah, my new friend and co-runner, told me

Mia *Thought so

Mia*So do you have a pic of him or what?

Me *In fact I do, he put at least fifty pictures on my phone because he heard us talking but why should I give you?

Mia *Please I'll do anything

Me *Just kidding, here's one

Mia *Holy Shit! Emma, tell me you're joking?

Me * Nope, this is what I have to deal with everyday

"Hey Emma" Jace taps my shoulder and I jump.

"Is it a thing for you to always scare me when I'm talking to Mia" I tease him as he opens his car door.

"Maybe. Were you talking about me?" He starts the car.

"No, why would we. I was telling her about the prank" I look at my phone.

"Really, huh?" He raises an eyebrow and he grabs my phone and runs out of the car. Oh shit!

"Jace! What the fuck are you doing?! Give me my phone!" I jump after the car and chase him.

"Hm, let's see what we have here. Hm, Mr Hot Pants" he stops to face me and raises up my phone so I can't reach it. Darn my height.

"Jace, please just give me" by now only a few people are around and they are to busy going home to notice us. Thank God.

"Hm, why did you send this picture? I don't like it" he grins.

"Jace, please" I feel myself blushing already. When he doesn't listen I knee him where the sun doesn't shine and he drops to the floor.

"I warned you" I pick my phone and head back to the car to text Mia.

Me *He read my texts

Mia *What do you mean?

Me *I told him we were chatting and he grabbed my phone and ran

Me *He held it up where I couldn't reach it so I kneed him there

Mia *Really, that's so cool. Serves him right

Me *He's coming let me take a picture, I'll send it to you

Jace was limping back to the car clutching his jewels, his face scrunched up in pain and I took a picture of it and sent it to Mia.

Mia *Classic :-D

Me *Ikr! See ya later

Mia *Bye

God that girl has some knee. I can't feel my nuts.

I manage to stand because the pain has reduced. I limp to the car clutching my jewels.

I open the car door and Mia looks at me with feigned concern.

"Aw Jace, I'm so sorry. Can you drive?" she feign innocence. Witch.

"I don't think so" I wince as I shift in my seat and I feel pain but luckily the pain has reduced more now so I can drive.

"Well deal with it" she smirks. Where is the adorable girl I came to school to with today.

"What if I can't father a child in future?" I drive off.

"Well, you adopt, simple" she tells me.

"Shall we continue our game?" I manage to grin because the pain is now close to nonexistent.

"Yeah. Who are you closer to now because I remember when you were young you were a dad's boy?" She asks and I step on the breaks.

"Jace! What the hell was that?! Are you trying to get us killed or what?!" She screams but I don't hear her because I run out of the car.

I feel pain but it's much worse now and I bend to put my hands on my knees. Why did she have to bring him up now?

I hear footsteps behind me but I ignore her.

"Jace, what's wrong? What happened to your dad?" Her voice is laced with worry as she puts her hand on my shoulder.

I look at her and everything comes back rushing to me.

"Dad, let's go come on" I drag my dad's into the car. I was so excited because we were finally going to the water park I always wanted to go.

"Calm down, little man" my dad laughs.

On the drive there, I'm practically bouncing up and down.

When we get there my dad carries my bag and we go in. "I wanna go to the pool first, dad" I point to the pool.

"Okay, let's go" I go into the changing room while my dad waits for me.

After some time I hear commotion outside and I undress faster. "Dad I'm done, let's go" I burst out of the dressing room to see people gathering somewhere but my dad isn't there.

I push my way through the people and when I get to the front, I feel as if my heart had been ripped from my chest.

There was my dad, on the floor, unconscious with a man pumping his chest. I fall on my knees beside my dad and tears begin to flow down my cheeks freely.

"Is this your dad?" The man asks me but I ignore him.

"Dad, dad, please wake up. Dad, let's go to the water slide, please? Dad" I shake my dad but I doesn't wake up.

"Someone call an ambulance" I scream without removing my eyes from my dad.

I grab my bag which is beside my dad and call my mom.

"Hello, mum. Please come to the water park, something's happened to dad" I'm already full on sobbing by then.

After a few minutes my mum arrives and she starts crying. "Mum, what's wrong with dad?" I ask her.

"Shut up! This is all your fault!" I freeze and she turns to face my father. My fault, it's all my fault.

The ambulance arrives and they take my dad to the hospital. After a few minutes, my dad is declared dead.

That day, I lost both my parents.

Hey guys, I'll try to update more now, I promise. I didn't want to write this chapter but I had to. The part about his dad was really painful for me to write.
