THE GOVERNMENT SCHEME CREATED to encourage young people into the police force was something Jim Hopper called a waste of time — his time, to be exact. The last thing he needs when trying to do his job is a couple of teenagers following him around trying to play at cop and thinking they're apart of the Mystery Gang.

Nevertheless, local graduates send in their applications and are invited to a number of interviews until they are narrowed down to just two — and he has to deal with a couple weeks of teaching them the basics of what's it like to work in the police.

And, as if this isn't already a huge inconvenience, Hopper is soon called to investigate the disappearance of Will Byers — and Hawkins PD's fresh interns seem to think they can uncover the answers to all strange occurrences that keep cropping up around town.

But Hopper knows better than to trust two teenagers with a case as big as this — after all, they're convinced that Will Byers' disappearance is at the hands of a government conspiracy, involving monsters and alternate dimensions.

And how could that possibly be true?
