A week later, Wooyoung and Jongho once again found themselves back in the city for another one of San's elaborate parties.
This time it was for New Years Eve and he had opened it up to anyone in the city who wanted to come by and party.
There was going to be plenty of food and drink, one of the best DJs in town, and he was even planning on having fireworks set off from the roof.
It had been a long time since Wooyoung had been out to any sort of a club or even just out to dance.
He and Jongho had decided to have some fun with it too because San had given the option for it to be casual, so there was no formal dress code in place.
They dressed in jeans, Wooyoung electing to wear some skinny, ripped, black jeans, cowboy boots, and Jongho had bought Wooyoung a nice cowboy hat for Christmas. That, coupled with their button down shirts, which they tucked into their jeans, and the large belt buckles that Jongho dug out of his closet, they looked like a couple straight out of a rodeo.
Wooyoung jumped up and down in place clapping his hands while looking in the mirror. "We look amazing!"
"I don't know about you, but you sure look sexy." Jongho laughed and pulled his hat off so he could dip Wooyoung low to the ground and give him a kiss.
The older giggled and shook his head back and forth once Jongho straightened them out again. "Are you ready for this?"
"You bet." A soft look crossed Jongho's face, one that said he knew something but wasn't going to tell Wooyoung about it.
They were already situated in their hotel room, having come down earlier that morning. They were both planning on drinking so neither one of them wanted to worry about the two hour drive home, and San would probably have Pierre lock them up if they even tried.
As they made their way to the elevator, they noticed several other people waiting to go down. Jongho pulled them to the side and pressed the putt on to go up.
"What are you doing? Aren't we going to the ballroom?" Wooyoung looked up at him and tilted his head.
"No. We are going to the secret party." Jongho wiggled his eyebrows and pulled Wooyoung into the elevator, then pressed the button for the roof.
"What secret party?"
"You'll see." Jongho laced their fingers together and kissed Wooyoung's cheek.
When the doors opened again, Wooyoung's mouth opened a little at the sight. He was expecting it to be freezing, but San must have brought in some special heaters because there were several people walking around carrying drinks and dancing together.
It was a full on rooftop party with lights, another DJ, fog machines, a couple of bars, and tables set with food.
"How is this even possible?" He looked around and spun in a circle.
"Because I'm amazing." San said from behind them. "Do you like it?"
Jongho walked forward to give his brother a hug. "How can we not? You've outdone yourself this time!"
"Well it is the biggest party of the year, so why not go all out?" San beamed and placed his hands on his hips. The motion caused the button down shirt he was wearing, which was conveniently left unbuttoned part of the way down, to flare open a little.
Normally Wooyoung would have teased him for it, but someone else beat him to the punch.
"What are you doing flashing yourself like this in front of everyone." A deep voice said, hurrying over to button up some of San's shirt.
San instantly froze and his cheeks flushed. "S-S—"
"Idiot."
"Yeosang?" Wooyoung asked, leaning forward to see who it was.
He watched as San's assistant turned around and started at him with wide eyes. "Oh. Hello."
Wooyoung was stunned. He looked back and forth between the two of them and San gave him and embarrassed smile while rubbing the back of his head. "Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag."
"Is that all you have to say for yourself?" Yeosang's eyes narrowed and he turned to glare at San. "What, have you been hiding me?"
"No, I just haven't found the right time to tell them." San pursed his lips in a pout.
"Wait, are you two... together?" Wooyoung asked. Flashes of accusing San of cheating on him with Yeosang came back in his mind and for a moment he felt himself getting angry.
Yeosang rolled his eyes at San, then turned back to Wooyoung and his gaze became more gentle. "Yes, but only for about a month. I know it's been awhile since we've seen each other, but I'd like to apologize for how cold I was to you when you came to the office that day. Jealousy is an ugly thing and I'm not proud of it, especially after everything you've been through."
"N-No, that's ok." Wooyoung said, waving his hand back and forth. "I thought that maybe you... but it's ok."
"Wait, so you've met before?" Jongho asked. "I'm so confused right now, what the hell is going on San?"
The older brother flashed a wide, cheesy grin. "Oh you know, just getting myself into trouble again."
"You can say that again." Yeosang smacked him on the shoulder. "Well, now you know. Sorry you had to find out this way."
Wooyoung just shook his head once more and let Jongho pull him to the dance floor.
"Are you ok?" Jongho asked. He looked worried.
"Yeah! Oh, yes, I promise, I'm fine! Just a little shocked." Wooyoung wrapped his arms around Jongho's neck. "I had asked San if there was anything going on between him and Yeosang at one point because he was always so busy and Yeosang's name had come up a lot. But he promised there had been nothing going on. So it's just weird to find out that they are together now."
The younger paused and bit his lip. "Are you... jealous?"
Wooyoung couldn't help but smile. It was cute seeing Jongho flustered like this. "Yes, I'm overflowing with jealousy. I just can't handle it anymore and that's why I'm with a super sexy cowboy right now." He lifted a hand up to knock Jongho's hat back on his head.
"Good." Jongho sighed and pulled Wooyoung closer to him.
"You're not still worried about anything, are you? I thought I showed you just how much I love you last night." He teased, trying to turn to look at Jongho, but his boyfriend just held him tighter.
"No, no, no, I'm not."
"Why are you acting so weird tonight?"
Jongho cleared his throat. "I'm going to go get us some drinks."
Wooyoung watched as Jongho hurried away, then started to run through what just happened in his head. He didn't think he had done anything to show he was upset about San seeing Yeosang, because he truly wasn't. If anything, he was happy for San.
So why was Jongho acting so strange?
Wooyoung's forehead creased and he drifted off to the side of the roof so he wasn't in the way. Maybe Jongho was still worried that he would go back to San? But that didn't make any sense at all...
He felt his heart sinking a little as he scanned the roof. Jongho wasn't by the drinks at all like he said he would be, nor was he anywhere that Wooyoung could see.
Just as he was about to go look for him, San stepped up onto the main stage and grabbed a microphone! "Hello friends! Thank you for coming to join me tonight! We are going to get things going now because it's an hour to midnight! Let's give a hand to our amazing DJ tonight and please come join me on the dance floor!"
Cheers erupted from all over the roof and people flocked to the floor.
A strong arm wrapped around Wooyoung's waist and spun him in a circle. He stopped to see Jongho standing in front of him holding two glasses of champagne. "Sorry, they needed to go get more."
"That's ok." Wooyoung forced a smile and accepted the glass.
The two of them moved a little closer together and Jongho started to rotated them in slow circles. "San really went all out, didn't he?" Jongho said, looking around the rooftop.
Wooyoung hummed in response and rested his chin on Jongho's shoulder. "It is very nice up here."
"What's wrong?" Jongho pulled back to look at him.
"I should be asking you the same question. You've been acting strange ever since we got up here. Do you not trust me?" Wooyoung stepped away and set down the champagne glass so he could cross his arms. "I mean, it's obvious that I chose you, why would I be jealous of San dating Yeosang?"
A warm smile crossed Jongho's face as he watched Wooyoung rant. "I should have known you'd get in your head." He whispered so low that Wooyoung almost didn't hear him.
But he still wanted clarification, so he asked, "What?"
Jongho just shook his head and walked away once more.
Wooyoung watched him go and had no idea how to react. Jongho walked over to the DJ and handed him a piece of paper, which had San running over to see what was going on. Then the three of them started talking with excited expressions on their faces.
San's head popped up and he found Wooyoung immediately and beamed at him, which had Jongho yanking him down by the collar of his shirt to whisper in his ear.
This all had Wooyoung so confused and he was about ready to leave. This was supposed to be a fun night to celebrate the new year and Wooyoung was starting to feel like he should just leave.
Suddenly, the music stopped and a slower song started to play.
Wooyoung recognized it instantly as one of the ones he and Jongho had decided was 'their song' for when they were in a particularly sentimental mood. It was one that liked to come on whenever they were cuddled up in front of the fire together, just enjoying each other's company.
The song was filled with words of love and hope for the future, how love may come and go, but it would always return just like flowers would always return each spring.
Just hearing the slow melody made Wooyoung's heart beat faster. He was rooted to the spot with his eyes locked on Jongho.
The younger gave him a shy smile and started to weave through the dancing couples. He didn't say a word as he pulled Wooyoung to him and started swaying to the song.
"What's going on?" Wooyoung asked.
"What do you mean? I'm just enjoying a dance with my incredibly handsome boyfriend." Jongho said, keeping his lips close to Wooyoung's ears so that he could hear.
"To our song?"
"Oh, is this our song? I had no idea." Jongho look bewildered as he started spinning them closer to the front of the dance floor.
The song started to reach it's end and the music started to fade. When it did, everyone stopped dancing and looked around in confusion.
But not Jongho.
He took a step back and took both of Wooyoung's hands in his. "Woo." He started and took a deep breath.
For a moment, the world seemed to stand still. Wooyoung could feel a lump forming in his throat. He wanted to ask what was going on again, but the words were suddenly stuck in his throat.
"We've been through a lot together over the past year. I fell for you hard, from the first time I saw you trip over your cart at the library."
Several people had gathered around, many of them taking out their phones, San included, but Wooyoung didn't notice any of it.
Jongho was already continuing with what it was that he wanted to say. "And then after that, each moment with you was the next best moment in my life. When I look back on it, I know now that I should have fought for you. I shouldn't have just walked away and it's the biggest regret I'll ever have."
Wooyoung bit the inside of his lip. He could feel the tears starting to form and the last thing he wanted right now.
"Fate must have brought us together that day in the farmer's market. Honestly, I had been thinking about calling you so that day since I was in the city. I had spent so much time pinning over you that I needed to either win you back or take the chance to get over you. But then, when you collapsed and were diagnosed, I knew I had to be there for you. I never felt right when it as back at the farm. I didn't feel complete."
"Jong—"
"But now? Now I feel whole. You're my other half, Wooyoung. I never want to be apart from you again. I know we haven't been together for very long, but I can feel it, we are meant for each other." Jongho's smile grew as he slowly lowered himself down onto one knee. "Will you stay with me? Always?" He took one hand and slipped it into his back pocket to pull out a gold band. "Well you marry me?"
Several people in the crowd 'aww'd' at the statement, but once again Wooyoung didn't hear anything, only the beating of his own heart as it pounded in his ears. He already knew his answer, it was just a matter of working through the shock to say it.
Wooyoung forced himself to blink, twice. At least everything seemed like it as going in slow motion, because it felt like it took him forever to say something even though it was only a matter of seconds. "Yes." Wooyoung nodded quickly and brought a hand to his mouth. "Yes."
Cheers erupted around them and Jongho slipped the ring onto his finger before standing up and pulling him into a kiss.
Then they were spinning in circles and fireworks erupted over their head.
Wooyoung broke the kiss so they could both look up and watch the colorful display happening in front of them.
"Sorry, this felt like a better time than midnight to set them off." San came running over and hugged Jongho. "I'm so happy for both of you!"
"Thanks, Sannie." Wooyoung said while taking his turn to hug him.
"When Jongho told me what he wanted to do, that's when I got the idea to do this." The older motioned to the party, still beaming.
Wooyoung turned to look at Jongho and he shrugged. "I was going to wait until midnight to ask, but then you started getting upset. Sorry if I seemed off, I was just nervous."
"I'm sorry if I over reacted." Wooyoung leaned forward to rest his head on Jongho's shoulder and the two of them started swaying back and forth once more.
When midnight finally came around, San set of another round of fireworks and the roof top, along with anyone down on the street, cheered and shouted, "Happy New Year!"
All except for two of them.
Jongho and Wooyoung had snuck back to their hotel room and were tangled together under the sheets. But that didn't stop them from hearing the booms of the fireworks.
"Happy New Year." Jongho whispered, kissing along Wooyoung's left shoulder.
The older hummed and ran his hands down Jongho's back. "Happy New Year, Fiancé." He giggled when Jongho tickled his side right before connecting their lips in a passionate kiss.
Their first kiss of the new year.
A year promised to be filled with many happy, loving moments. And hopefully, many more after that.
