A few uneventful weeks passed and they were some of the longest weeks of Wooyoung's life.
He spent a lot of time alone in San's penthouse with Nova trying to find something to occupy his worried mind.
There had been no update on what was happening with Marcus.
San had helped Wooyoung change his phone number as soon as both Luke and Marcus tried to call him. They didn't want to take any risks, but Wooyoung kept expecting the police to show up and take him away because of the damn contract he signed.
And every time he mentioned it San would reassure him that no one would get past security here. Plus no one knew where he was staying. If the police were looking for him they would start with his apartment which would lead straight to a dead end.
Wooyoung sighed and stared out at the city below him from the large ledge he was sitting on in the living room.
He never got tired of it.
There were so many things for him to see and watching the small ant-sized people milling around below him made everything that much more interesting.
If only he could get out and do something though.
Although lately, he had started feeling awfully tired. He contributed it to the fact that he had hardly left the penthouse, but t here were somedays that he would wake up drenched in sweat and then he would hardly have the energy to leave the bedroom.
Nova sat in his lap, purring happily whenever he started to rub her behind her ear.
She had taken to life at the penthouse happily and loved that she had so much more room to roam.
Pierre had taken quite a liking to her two and always had a treat of some sort whenever he came up to visit.
The elevator dinged, drawing Wooyoung's attention.
San stepped out and smiled as soon as he saw the younger. "Wooyoung!"
"Welcome home." Wooyoung smiled, not leaving his perch. He watched as San set down his briefcase and took his jacket and tie off. "Did you have a good day?"
"I did." San snapped open his case and pulled out a file. "I had a very good day, actually." The older beamed and walked over to Wooyoung. They exchanged a quick, passionate kiss before San sat down next to him. "Here." He held out the file.
"What is this?"
"Just open it." San nodded quickly and motioned for Wooyoung to continue.
Pursing is lips, Wooyoung flipped the folder opened and noticed a legal document. He skimmed through it and felt his mouth open more and more as he went on. "Is... Is this true?" Wooyoung looked up and watched as San puffed out his chest and nodded.
"You bet it is. The deal went through just today. He really tried to fight me on it, but I wasn't going to give in that easily."
"San... You didn't need to do this..." Guilt started to build up within Wooyoung as he glanced back at the piece of paper in his hand.
On it was documented proof that San had purchased Marcus' business. Detailed on it was all of the details about how San had full rights to everything. He could stop in to inspect the building at any time, he could control what contracts Marcus took, and he was able to adjust how Marcus paid himself too.
San was now Marcus' boss.
"I've already been by the office. He wasn't happy about it, but after a lot of negotiating, I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I also made him tear up your contract. You no longer work there, Youngie." San leaned forward and placed a hand on Wooyoung's knee.
The younger closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He couldn't believe this was actually happening. For San to have done this... Wooyoung didn't even want to think about how much money he had just spent.
But he was grateful, too.
"Thank you." Wooyoung opened his eyes and ignored the fact that tears rolled down his cheeks. "Thank you."
San gave him a kind smile and reached up to place a hand on the side of his neck. "I told you that I want to take care of you, so you don't need to thank me. I promise, it really isn't that big of a deal."
"It is to me, though. I've never had this kind of money. Ever. I can't even picture what it must look like."
"And I don't want you to worry about it. Come on. I want to take you out to celebrate." San carefully lifted Nova off Wooyoung's lap and set her on the floor. She gave him a disapproving look before trotting over to where her food dish was.
"I don't know, I'm not—" Wooyoung started to say, not sure if he felt up to going anywhere, but San just grabbed his hand and dragged him to their closet to get dressed.
Once the initial stress of Wooyoung uprooting his life to move in with San had passed, they had spent a lot of time reorganizing the closet so that Wooyoung had a place for the few articles of clothing he had brought with him.
San had tried to say he would buy him an entire new wardrobe, but Wooyoung liked his worn t-shirts and wasn't ready to part with them yet.
That didn't stop the older from coming home one day with shopping bags filled with designer clothing for Wooyoung to try on, but at least he never insisted that Wooyoung got rid of anything.
So now he had a slowly growing section to himself that housed his eclectic collection. On the floor beneath it was a shoe rack that held a few nice pairs of sneakers, dress shoes, and a pair of cowboy boots that Wooyoung definitely couldn't bring himself to throw away.
When San had seen them, things grew awkward between them for some time. There was only one reason Wooyoung would own a pair of shoes like that.
Jongho hadn't spoken to either of them since the day he helped with Luke.
Apparently he had shown up when the police called him in for questioning while building a case against Wooyoung's ex, but he must have requested a specific time because neither Wooyoung nor San had seen him there.
They took their time getting dressed, chatting about San's day at work and other random things about the city.
The past few weeks had created this comforting blanket between the two of them and it almost felt like they had been dating for several months now.
Once finished, San took Wooyoung's hand and led him to the elevator. "I think you're going to like this place." He said, leaning against the elevator wall.
Wooyoung bit his lip as he took in just how sexy San looked in his dark blue jeans and black dress shirt that had thin, gold, sparkly stripes in it. He had left enough buttons undone to show off some of his chest, but overall, it was a very casual look for him.
"What?" San asked. The corner of his mouth quirked up in a smile. He knew exactly what Wooyoung was thinking about right now.
"Where are we going?" Wooyoung asked, looking down to straighten out his own powder blue dress shirt that stood out in stark contrast to his black skinny jeans.
"You'll see."
"You enjoy doing this, don't you?"
San pulled Wooyoung into him and placed a hand on the back of his head to pull him into a kiss. "Yes. I do." He whispered, moving to kiss along Wooyoung's jaw.
The motion made Wooyoung melt and he hummed at the feeling of San's soft lips against his skin.
When the door opened, they walked to where Pierre was waiting for them, like always, and slipped into the limo.
San continued what he had started as soon as the door was closed. It made Wooyoung whimper a little, but he didn't do anything to stop the older.
The entire car ride was filled with kisses and soft touches.
About twenty minutes later, they pulled up in front of a local pizza place.
Wooyoung's eyes lit up when he realized where they were. He had been expecting some high-end restaurant that catered to the rich. This was definitely the kind of place people stopped at to enjoy good company and good food.
"I like to come here sometimes when I need a change." San said, following Wooyoung out of the limo. "This is the best pizza in the city."
"This is perfect." Wooyoung turned to give him a hug, then blushed when he realized people were watching them.
The limo always drew attention to them no matter where they went. It never seemed to phase San though. He grabbed Wooyoung's hand and took him inside.
Whispers followed their steps as they were shown to a booth near a front window.
"How do you do it?" Wooyoung asked, eyeing the other diners nervously.
"Just ignore them. They are just curious." San reached across the table to take Wooyoung's hand.
It was a comforting gesture. San's fingers curled around Wooyoung's smaller hand easily and his thumb drifted back and forth.
Wooyoung took a deep breath and nodded, then opened the menu. "What do you normally get here?"
"I usually get something different every time, it's all so good." San laughed. "So let's get whatever you want to try. And don't be shy, we can get whatever you want."
That ended up being a dangerous statement because they ended up ordering four different small pizzas because Wooyoung couldn't decide what he wanted.
The looks from the strangers around them grew when all four pizzas were brought out and crammed onto the small table, but by now both San and Wooyoung were too caught up in each other to notice.
It was a fun, relaxing evening, and something that Wooyoung desperately needed.
San spent a lot of time talking about his plans to further his business while trying to help out other businesses around the city. He enjoyed donating to smaller ones, hoping to help them grow and support themselves.
When Wooyoung asked, San started to talk about his time in business school and how hard he worked to graduate quickly so that he could start up his idea as soon as possible. With help from his father, San had been able to grow quickly, but he attributed most of his success to the fact that he was aggressive when he needed to be and took a few risks that could have bankrupted him if they had failed.
As the evening drew to a close and San payed the bill, he glanced around the table and his forehead creased in concern. "Are you ok? You didn't eat very much."
Most of the pizza was still on the table and Wooyoung had an unfinished slice in front of him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry, I guess I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was." Wooyoung giggled and rubbed his neck. "We can take it home though, right?"
"Definitely. I don't know about you, but I love pizza for breakfast."
"Me too!"
Both of them laughed and waited for their boxes before heading out. San's phone rang as soon as they left the restaurant and he paused before getting into the limo.
"Yes?... Ok, calm down... I gave you all the information yesterday... I know... Yeosang I asked you to handle this for me... I'd rather—Fine, I'll be in first thing... No, I'm not dealing with this tonight... I don't care..." San let out a long, frustrated sigh. "Fine." He hung up the phone and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Is everything ok?" Wooyoung asked quietly.
"No. I guess there's an emergency with one of my accounts. Are you ok if I drop you off at home?" San gave him a pained look and cupped his cheek. "I'm sorry."
"Yeah, that's fine. And don't apologize, you're a very important man and you have things to do." Wooyoung turned his head to kiss San's palm. "Just hurry home, ok?"
"I'll do everything I can." San pulled him into a hug and kissed his forehead.
Wooyoung waved goodbye when the limo pulled away before stepping into the elevator. He leaned against the wall and placed a hand over his chest. For some reason he felt like he was having a hard time breathing.
It didn't last long though, so he attributed it to the fact that he felt exhausted.
He put the pizza boxes away and made his way to bed. It felt weird to be alone. San was always home at night. Wooyoung had grown used to having a warm body next to him in bed, so now he was worried he would have a hard time sleeping.
That proved to not be the case, however, as he fell asleep a matter of minutes after his head hit the pillow with one hand laying across the empty space next to him.
