Jongho told Wooyoung he would pick him up the following afternoon after three and gave him a quick kiss goodbye before leaving the office.
Wooyoung then spent a great deal of time trying to decide what he could get Jongho for his birthday. He found the younger's answer charming, but Wooyoung was the kind of person where he liked bringing gifts and putting thought and meaning into them.
The only problem was that Wooyoung didn't know Jongho well enough to have idea as to what would be meaningful to him.
He was busy scrolling through the computer when the door opened, revealing Marcus walking in carrying a bag of food and shaking his hat. "Man, where did this rain come from?"
Wooyoung looked out the window and his eyes widened. "I have no idea."
His boss chuckled and shook his head. "What exactly have I been paying you to do then?"
Feeling his cheeks flush, Wooyoung stood up and moved away from the computer. "I-I-I'm sorry. You just asked m-me to watch th-"
"Wooyoung, relax. I'm not upset, I was just curious." Marcus started pulling out containers of food. "I don't care what you do if you're ever here by yourself, just as long as you stop what you're doing if someone comes in."
"Thanks. This smells good." Wooyoung came over to investigate. It was just a bunch of finger food like onion rings and chicken wings. But his stomach growled and Marcus chuckled again.
They both started opening the containers and setting everything out.
Wooyoung leaned forward to grab one of the wings while Marcus reached for a handful of chips. The younger's shirt must have slipped, because Marcus froze and and gripped his shoulder and turned him. "What is that?" He asked, his voice cold and harsh.
"Marcus let go!" Wooyoung shoved his hand away. "What the hell?" He backed away and looked down at his shoulder. There was a noticeable mark on his shoulder, but he didn't understand why Marcus was flipping out.
"Sorry. I-" Marcus shook his head an cleared his throat. "I take it your date when well."
"That's none of your business. I'm sorry, but I need to go." Wooyoung made sure he had his things and left without saying another word.

The next day, Wooyoung paced around his room still trying to figure out what he could do for Jongho's birthday.
He had already gone out to scrounge up a new outfit so he didn't wear anything torn. His new pair of skinny jeans, while a little faded, fit him well and tucked into the boots Jongho had given him. He had even managed to find a nice black, cotton, button up shirt.
So he wasn't worried about looking good.
But what that something he should worry about?
Once again Wooyoung started thinking about how he was seeing two different people at the same time. And he had kissed both of them and enjoyed it.
He stopped and looked at himself in his cracked mirror.
"You just..." Wooyoung sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "You need to not think about it. You are dating right now. Actually dating, Wooyoung. And there have been no labels. You're just testing the waters. You don't have to decide anything right now. You just went from not dating at all after... To dating two people. They both obviously care about you, and that's all you want, right? No decision needs to be made now." He paused, then pressed his lips together. "And now you're talking to yourself in the mirror. Just great."
He turned slowly and ducked into his bathroom to make sure he looked ok. He had decided to not part his hair today, enjoying how it looked falling over his forehead.
The mark San had left on his shoulder was faded enough, thankfully, so he wasn't worried about having to try and explain what it was.
Although Jongho didn't seem like the kind of person to call him for it.
The minimal makeup Wooyoung had treated himself to made him feel a little better about himself. He had a nice honeyed glow about him and he thought the thin, winged eyeliner he had spend almost an hour perfecting made his hazel eyes pop.
Then he made sure that his ratty backpack was ready to go. He had decided to pack some overnight clothes, just in case. They had never discussed him staying the night, but if they spent another night stargazing together, Wooyoung wanted to be able to have a fresh outfit for the next day.
As time got a little closer and Wooyoung finally got fed up with trying to make himself look perfect, he went to the front of his apartment complex and waited for a sound he found himself already loving even though he had already heard it a couple of times.
A bright smile crossed his face as soon as he heard the roar of Jongho's truck.
He slipped into the front seat and buckled up. "Happy birthday."
The farmer's eyes crinkled as he reached over and took Wooyoung's hand. "Thank you. I'm so glad you could be here with me. It's definitely the best present." He winked before pulling away from the curb.
"I still wish you could have given me an idea of what I could get you." Wooyoung said, slouching in his seat a little.
Jongho just chuckled. "I don't want anything. Really, please don't worry about it. What's in the backpack?"
Wooyoung blushed and held it close to his chest. "Um. Well, I... Um... You see. I wasn't sure how late I'd be staying. And, well..." He internally cursed himself for not being about to form a coherent thought.
When had he become such a bumbling idiot?
But Jongho seemed to understand exactly what he meant, because as they turned onto the long country road that would take them to his farm, he unbuckled Wooyoung and pulled him across the long seat to hold him close. All while never taking his eyes off the road. "I would love it if you stayed the night again." He said as he rubbed Wooyoung's arm.
The older blushed and turned so his legs were up on the seat and they sat in a comfortable silence as Jongho drove them the rest of the way.
When they pulled up to the farm, it looked like people were already getting things set up. There were several long tables covered with faded blue tablecloths, a few grills had been brought out, and there were chairs everywhere. It looked like some people were even working on building a bonfire.
Jongho let out a long sigh and rubbed the back of his neck. "I told them not to make a big deal out of it. I just wanted to have people come in and out."
"I think it's sweet." Wooyoung placed a hand on Jongho's chest and rubbed it back and forth. "It shows they really care about you. Do you have any family coming?"
He sat up and watched as Jongho swallowed before giving him a half smile. "No. They had unavoidable plans this weekend. We will find a time to celebrate next weekend."
Wooyoung felt his heart sink a little, but took the moment to lean over and kiss Jongho's cheek. "Take to your party, Cowboy."
They both got out on the driver's side and went inside to deposit Wooyoung's backpack before joining the others.
Things were a bit overwhelming at first, but Wooyoung never felt completely left out. Jongho always made sure to introduce him to every new person that came up. He never left Wooyoung's side, and would often stand so that their arms or shoulders would touch.
He was thankful that it was nothing more than that, though, because he wasn't sure if he could handle all the questions.
And he had a feeling Jongho felt the same way. He struck Wooyoung as a very private person, so having a million questions asked about his personal life would probably make him feel very uncomfortable.
Music played the entire time and as it got closer to dinner time, Jongho tried to fire up the grills, but he was quickly shooed away with several people saying he didn't need to work on his birthday.
That didn't stop him and Wooyoung from sneaking off to the barn to check on Sunny though. The foal watched them with big eyes while her fuzzy tail flicked back and forth.
"Sorry things are so crazy out there." Jongho said as he leaned against the stall, smiling fondly at the foal.
"It's ok." Wooyoung leaned against the wall and lifted one foot up to brace against it so his knee was bent. His gut flipped a little when Jongho very obviously started to check him out.
"Hopefully it'll be just a little longer, then we can get some time just you and me." He said, his eyes slowly traveling up to meet Wooyoung's. "Has anyone ever told you that you look amazing in skinny jeans?"
Wooyoung blushed and bit his lip. "No."
Jongho walked over to him and stopped only when he could lean into the wall, but he kept his body far enough away that only their clothes brushed together. "Well. You look damn fine in skinny jeans."
The older's heart started beating faster. His eyes didn't stray from Jongho's blue ones. But his eyelids did flutter when Jongho placed one hand on his knee and slowly ran it up the outside of his thigh.
Then their lips were connected. Wooyoung inhaled sharply through his nose as he dropped his foot to the floor and wrapped his arms around the younger's neck.
While it was still a gentle kiss, there was a hint of need in the way Jongho placed his other hand on Wooyoung's hip but kept the other one on his thigh, rubbing it gently. But their lips moved at a slow pace, both of them just feeling out the situation.
When Jongho finally pulled back, they were both out of breath and flushed. They pressed their foreheads together for a moment before leaving the barn to rejoin the party.
Dinner was a hamburgers and an array of grilled vegetables to go with it, along with fruits and other sides that people had brought. Several of them had also started drinking, but Wooyoung was impressed when Jongho turned down any offers and stuck with lemonade that someone had made.
At one point, one of the workers brought out a watermelon they had sliced in have and stuck candles in and everyone started to sing to the farmer. He shuffled in place and either looked at the ground or at Wooyoung until he could blow out his candles. Applause broke out around them before people started to break off again.
"No cake?" Wooyoung asked as Jongho set the watermelon down on the table.
"I don't have a big sweet tooth, so if they had brought be a cake I wouldn't have touched it." Jongho said with a half smile as he cut out a couple pieces of the fruit.
He and Wooyoung both enjoyed a slice, but as soon as the older saw someone carrying out a tray with supplies for s'mores, he pulled Jongho with him over to the bonfire so he could have some.
Jongho watched him the entire time as he meticulously turned the stick his marshmallow was on, watching every side of it to be a nice, golden brown. He placed it on a graham cracker that already had chocolate on it, the same size as the cracker, and squished it between both halves. The melted concoction got all over Wooyoung's fingers, but he didn't care as he took a big bite and hummed happily.
"So good." He said, bouncing in his seat a little.
The younger laughed and scooted closer so he could grab Wooyoung's wrist. He brought the older's fingers to his lips and closed his eyes as he sucked some of the chocolate and marshmallow off.
Wooyoung froze, even thought his heart raced, as Jongho slowly opened his eyes agin and smiled. "You're right, that is pretty good. Although still too sweet for me."
"Maybe I can change your mind." Wooyoung said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I'd like to see you try." Jongho challenged.
They both had the same thought, because they stood together and started making their way back to Jongho's house.
He made a point to stop and say thank you to anyone who was still there, but once they were out of sight, Wooyoung grabbed his hand and they both ran to his house and kicked off their boots.
Their lips collided as Jongho guided them to his bedroom. It was all kisses and touches and right now Wooyoung wanted nothing more that to be with the farmer.
When they entered the bed room, he pushed Jongho away and tried to catch his breath.
"What?" Jongho panted, looking concerned.
But Wooyoung just gave him a sultry smile and used one finger to push him until he was sitting on his bed. "Maybe I can give you something for your birthday after all."
