"You selfish little asshole!"

Even Bellamy wasn't prepared for the way Gabriella practically threw herself towards Murphy and slapped him across the face then proceeded to hit his chest as she yelled.

"You leave without as much as a goodbye and I don't see you for four months and all I get is a 'Hey, Ellie.'?" her eyes were narrowed into an almost deadly glare, "Is that seriously all you got to say to me? Because if it is then you really have a lot of nerve."

Bellamy awkwardly cleared his throat from his place in the doorway and looked between the two like they were a disaster waiting to happen, "I'm gonna give you two a minute."

When he was out of the room and the doors were shut, Murphy made the mistake of being the first to speak up and break the silence.

"I know you might now realize it but I left for you. I had no idea if this deal with the grounders was gonna last and I needed to find a safe place for everyone. For you."

Gabriella's face scrunched up in disbelief, "So what? You get to play the hero for a month or two and I end up hating you in the long run?"

There weren't enough words to express how angry Gabriella was. All the thoughts that have been spiraling inside her head for three months have almost calmed down and after her conversation with Jaha, she finally got the closure she needed to move on with her life but he had to fuck everything up by coming back.

They were both silent for a minute and she saw Murphy was trying really hard to think of a good excuse for leaving her, "I didn't have anything left here."

"You had me." Gabriella all but yelled, feeling tears bottling up in her eyes despite her trying her best to keep them away, "Was that just not enough?" 𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘐 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩?

"We both know that's not true." Murphy shook his head, physically not able to look at her teary eyes anymore and looking down at the floor.

"Then why come back here? After everything. To bring me more pain after I finally managed to move on?" she demanded. She needed an answer or she swore she was going to slap him again. She could have handled anyone stabbing her in the back but not him.

"Because I'm selfish and I can't live my life without you in it." he finally snapped, "Because you're the love of my life, the first and only girl I've ever loved and the only person in the universe that I never wanted to hurt."

"Well you did." Gabriella's voice wasn't as loud or as strong as it was when she first entered the room and saw him standing there. It was weak and it reminded her of the same girl she was when she first lost her mom and that wasn't the person she wanted to be ever again. That little girl was weak and didn't know how to handle death or heartbreak or grief but this Gabriella experienced it too much not to be able to handle it, "And you're right. You're selfish for coming back after all this time when I finally managed to get over you."

"How?" Murphy couldn't help but scoff, "By getting 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 Bellamy Blake?"

Before either of them could even blink, Gabriella slapped him across the face and the satisfaction she felt topped every way she got her anger for him out in the last few months.

"Yeah, I deserved that." he muttered under his breath and sighed after recovering from the harsh slap that left a burning sting on his left cheek.

Gabriella nodded in agreement, her chest filled with satisfaction at the way Murphy put his hand to his slightly red cheek, "Yeah, you did."

Murphy stared at her angry face for a moment and shook his head, his pleading look replacing his irritated one from before. He opened his mouth to say something but she beat him to it with a surprisingly defeated look in her eyes.

"Everyone was telling me how I'm gonna regret choosing you over everyone else over and over again." she swallowed and crossed her arms over her chest, narrowing her eyes, "Why did you have to prove them right?" she sighed shakily and lifted her chin up to give him the stubborn look he was so used to seeing "But guess what? I'm not making that same mistake again." a pause, "I don't love you anymore."

Murphy's heart seemed to break right in front of her eyes, just like hers did the moment Kane told her he left her. His slightly greasy hair fell in front of his eyes and his blue eyes pierced through her like they did the same day they met. He looked like the same guy she reunited with when the hundred first landed, yet he seemed so different. Almost distant. But they both were. Neither one of them were the same people they were when they got to Earth and their relationship definitely wasn't the same as it was back then either.

He nodded in understanding and swallowed down the tears threatening to leave his eyes, "I wanna know if you still hate me so I can figure out how to fix this. Have I really lost you forever?"

The hurt and desperation almost made her break but she stayed composed and didn't allow her face to falter more than it did before, "You hurt me more than anyone else ever did . . . so yeah, I hate you. Because if I don't hate you for ruining what we had then I have to hate myself for believing you actually cared about me."

"Of course I care." Murphy exclaimed in disbelief, "How could you even think I didn't? You're the only person I ever actually cared about." When the only response he received was an unwavering stubborn look, he shook his head, "I heard people talking you know? They're saying you're on Pike's side and are ready to start a war with the grounders again."

Gabriella raised her eyebrows and let out a humorless laugh, "Are you mad because you think your new grounder girlfriend will get hurt?"

Murphy's eyebrows furrowed in confusion before realization replaced his look of confusion, "Emori? Really? I don't know what kind of bullshit story Jaha told you but nothing happened between us. Hell, I didn't even bring her here because I didn't want you to get the wrong idea."

"I don't care if you got a new girlfriend or not." Gabriella snapped, rolling her eyes, "I don't care about what, or more specifically, who, you do either. Just leave me the hell alone."

"This isn't you, Ellie." Murphy said, shaking his head and making the blonde instantly bark out a laugh.

"No. This is who I've always been." she told him with an unimpressed look, "You've just never seen me like this because you don't know what I look like when I'm not in love with you."

"So you're throwing everything away?" Murphy asked with furrowed eyebrows, his words making her scoff and run her fingers through her hair in frustration.

"You're the one that threw it away once you ran off with Jaha." she stated, her voice deadly calm and it made Murphy realize she was only moments from truly snapping, "I'm done with you. For all I care, you can go back to the City of Light with 𝘌𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘪 or you can go ahead and become a grounder or you can go jump off a cliff. I just don't ever want to see you again."

Murphy nodded and moved past her towards the door, only stopping when he reached it before trying one last time, "I love you."

"Fuck you." was the only response he received and he took it as a signal to leave. When he was out of the room, she didn't hear the door shut for another second. But when she did, there wasn't a second that passed before a pair of strong arms wrapped around her and her head instinctively found its place in the crook of Bellamy's neck.

She breathed in his comforting smell of him she was so used to and melted in his hold, squeezing her eyes shut to try and get the image of Murphy's pleading gaze out of her head.

-

Murphy was gone the next day and Gabriella spent the following week attending Pike's meeting and then meeting up with Kane every other night in secret so she and Bellamy could tell him about whatever plan Pike had and about the next grounder village he's going to have them attack.

A couple of hours prior, Gabriella sneaked towards Kane's room to inform him about her, Bellamy and what was left of Farm Station going into a nearby village where Pike expected them to claim the village so they could get better access to water from that area.

Kane said he was going to send Octavia and a few others out behind them to sabotage their plan and Gabriella could only hope everything would go according to plan.

While Hannah and a couple other guards were getting water samples, Gabriella and Bellamy were scouting the woods around the village with Pike and a couple of others.

The blonde engineer split away from the group just as she heard Hannah yelling something from the beach and then heard rustling behind the trees. She didn't want to alarm Bellamy and then draw attention to them so she slowly backed away on her own and towards the source of the sound.

She had her gun raised varily but lowered it as soon as she saw a grounder kid running away and didn't hesitate to follow him. He couldn't have been older than thirteen. She lowered her gun and rushed after the kid, her pace only quickening at the sound of some guards following. As soon as she reached the kid, she grabbed ahold of his elbow and tugged him behind a big tree that had a couple of bushes next to it. She got to her knees in front of him, her face softening at the alarmed and scared look on his face.

"I'm not going to hurt you." Gabriella soothed him in a whisper, brushing his hair from his face in what she hoped was a confronting manner, "But they probably will so I need you to stay here and be quiet. I'm gonna make them leave and then I want you to rush to a cave. There's one a few meters from here but make sure to be quiet."

The kid hesitated and then nodded, making her give him a small barely there smile. She quickly got to her feet when she heard someone's footsteps.

"Where is he?" Pike's golden boy and right hand, James, asked her and she sighed in fake annoyance.

"I lost him." she informed him just as Hannah came out of the trees.

The dark haired woman frowned and then looked between them, "Double back towards the river. He couldn't have gotten far."

"Got it." Gabriella easily replied, patting James' shoulder with a fake frown, "You'll do better next time."

She could feel him glare at her as she brushed past him and led them away from the boy. Her pace almost faltered when she saw Octavia looking at her from behind one of the trees but she kept walking, not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention to her.

-

Gabriella knew Pike didn't trust her or Bellamy completely yet the second he dismissed them when they reached Arkadia. There was something he wasn't telling them and it was making Bellamy more paranoid than usual and it was making her just pissed off.

But apparently, he needed them for something because he radioed them to join him only an hour after dismissing them. He didn't say anything though, just made them follow him down the hall but they stopped when Kane blocked their way.

He made sure to give Gabriella and Bellamy a disappointed look to keep up the act and then solemnly turned to Pike, "There you are. We need to talk about these things Jaha's distributing."

"No we don't." Pike shook his head dismissively, "That's Abby's department. I have much more immediate concerns."

He was about to brush past Kane, only to have him stop him by grabbing his forearm and raise a knowing eyebrow, "Like the imprisoned grounders?"

"Interned for their safety as well as ours." Pike easily corrected him.

"They came in for our help. If we're not gonna give it to them we should at least send them home." Kane pushed and Gabriella bit her tongue hard enough to draw blood just to keep herself from agreeing and taking her step father's side. Locking up the sick grounders that came to Arkadia for their help was probably one of the most idiotic things Pike has done since becoming Chancellor. And the list was definitely long.

"They're a liability." James chimed in from behind Pike while also giving Kane a death glare, "If we let them go they're just going to tell the rest of their people everything. Our defense and capabilities."

"We're talking about Lincoln here." Kane said, giving Bellamy a look.

"No. We're talking about the enemy." Pike corrected him and Kane was quick to retort.

"Not all grounders are the enemy."

"Kane, we've been through this, all right?" Pike exclaimed, clearly getting annoyed now, just for a different reason than Gabriella, "The election decided it."

"Public opinion is a funny thing, Charles." Kane told him, a ghost of a smile appearing on his face when Nate rounded the hall and "accidentally" pumped into Gabriella. The blonde girl bit her bottom lip to keep a smirk off her face as she put one of her hands in her jacket pocket and felt the small microphone Nate put in there for her to place in the meeting room.

"My job is to keep us safe, not to be liked." Pike told Kane, before turning on his heel and towards the meeting room. Gabriella and Bellamy exchanged a knowing look and then followed but the former was stopped by James grabbing her wrist.

"I don't trust you." the blond boy told her with narrowed eyes, something she returned with a small smirk.

"I guess you're just going to have to keep an eye on me." she shot back, tearing her wrist from his grip and then turning around without sparing him a second glance.

-

"Okay. Let's get this meeting started." Pike spoke at everyone took their place around the table and Gabriella was glad Pike called them before everyone else because she managed to put the microphone under the table without anyone catching her.

"Welcome Farm Station's own Monty Green and factory girl Zoe Monroe as we begin our next crucial phase expansion and salvation." the Chancellor drawled out with a smile as Monty and Zoe stepped towards them out of the corner he was standing and Gabriella felt herself freeze. She was so caught up in her own thoughts that she didn't even notice Monty was there. What the hell was he doing there in the first place?

Pike lifted up a tube, thankfully not noticing the way Gabriella froze at the sight of one of her best friends, "This will lead the way."

Bellamy snapped Gabriella out of her daze and made her tear her eyes away from Monty by putting his hand on her lower back.

Zoe gave her former Earth Skills teacher a confused look, "Dirt?"

"Soil," he corrected her "fertile, arable soul, vastly more rich than anything we've found since landing. We'll clear the trees and plant within the month."

"We start with soybeans and corn. They grow the fastest." Hannah added with a big self-satisfied grin.

While Gabriella gaped at the desk in front of her in disbelief, Bellamy looked at them in surprise. They both knew what this meant. Pike was willing to kill every single grounder if it meant he would manage to get more land.

Monty had an equally surprised look and then moved away from the table to look at the maps on the wall. Bryan, Nate's boyfriend, raised a humorus eyebrow at him, "What's wrong, Monty? Don't like corn?"

"I've never had corn, actually." Monty responded blankly, his back still to everybody else. He ran his fingers across one of the villages and Gabriella could see his eyebrows furrow in the reflection of the glass over the map, "I'd this where we're going?"

Pike nodded, "That's right."

"There's a village there. What about the people who live there?" Monty said as if it weren't already obvious. His words made Gabriella have a bit of hope that he wasn't actually planning to join them with the same intentions his mother and Pike had.

"Sector Four." Bellamy told him and then turned to Pike, recalling the conversation the two of them and Gabriella had on their first meeting, "We talked about this. The people there are not a threat."

"We need that land. With the loss of Mount Weather's resources, Arkadia will be starving in less than a year." Pike snapped. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘰'𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵? Gabriella lifted her hands from the table and shrugged.

"So we're gonna politely ask them to move." she told him, ignoring the annoyance flashing across his face, "But we aren't going to kill the children living there. They aren't even warriors. They're families." a short pause, "Sir."

Bellamy huffed under his breath and nodded in agreement, "With all due respect, sir, you still haven't answered Monty's question."

"You know the answer." Pike told him and then looked at Gabriella, "And you know what you were getting into when you joined us. I also know the risk I took when I allowed you to do so while you're Kane's daughter."

"I'm not his daughter." the blonde snapped way to quickly and almost flinched when she remember Kane could definitely hear them but brushed it off and lifted her chin higher, "I just want to know if you know what 𝘺𝘰𝘶 are getting us into. I will do whatever you say because you're our Chancellor."

The lie left a bitter taste on her and she felt like throwing up at the smile Pike gave her. He was clearly satisfied by her anwser because a moment later, he turned back to the rest of them, "Every field must be cleared of stones before it's tilled."

"We were spotted by a child." Hannah reminded him, "They'll be expecting us. But they lost their fighters when we took out the army. We don't expect resistance."

"They'll grounder." Monty spoke up, his voice only slightly strained, "They'll resist."

Bellamy shook his head, "Even if they don't. The Commander's message was clear. Blood must not have blood. That doesn't mean we can start taking ── "

"What would you prefer?" Pike cut him off with a sharp glare, "Die fighting for your home or starve to death? Will you do what needs to be done for your people to survive, or not?"

Gabriella saw the muscle in Bellamy's jaw clench and by the way his fist clenched into fists, she could tell he hand something more to say but chose not to and simply nodded.

"Yes, Sir." James was the first one to respond with words and not with a curt nod, everyone else following after him. Gabriella on the other hand, simply nodded while giving the boy a subtle side glare.

-

Gabriella clenched her fists around the wheel of the rover and shared a look with Bellamy who was sitting next to her. They just reached the grounder village they were about to attack and they could only hope Kane or Octavia had some sort of plan to stop them.

The two of them stepped out of the rover with riffles in hands. Just in their hands, they weren't a weapon, they were protection. But in Pike's hands? Everything seemed like a weapon.

"I don't hear anything." Zoe spoke with a tremble in her voice, "Maybe no one's home."

𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩. Gabriella thought as she squirmed a bit at the small drops of rain falling on her. Gods, there was nothing she hated more than rain.

"Hello?" James called out when they reached the village, "Anyone here?"

"Maybe they saw our lights and left." Hannah said, although her voice was doubtful. James huffed and rolled his eyes before making a hand motion as a signal for them to follow them, something Gabriella did with hesitation.

She and Bellamy made sure to stay in the back while everyone else checked the tents. They definitely weren't planning to kill any grounder tonight.

They simultaneously froze at the sound of a horse and didn't have the luck of being the only ones to hear it, because James instantly perked up and yelled.

"Contact, two o'clock!"

"Bellamy! Ella! Get them out of there! It's a trap!" Octavia Blake's voice was faint and from a big distance but Gabriella and Bellamy still heard her and recognized her voice easily.

"Take cover!" Gabriella rushed out the second the saw lit up arrows flying towards them and felt Bellamy grab her forearm and pull her behind one of the bigger tents.

Octavia's voice was heard once more, "The smoke is poison!"

Gabriella could hear James barking orders as she allowed Bellamy to pull her farther away from the village and towards the rover. They didn't hear Zoe crying for help. They didn't see Monty almost getting himself killed to save her.

They only saw her dying body when the smoke cleared out and they brought her to the edge of the woods where the rover was parked.

Zoe choaked on air and her eyes were wide open as she stared at the sky, panic written all over her face. Gabriella fell to her knees above her head and faintly heard Hannah's voice question.

"How the hell did they know?"

"Monroe?" Bellamy croaked out in alarm when Zoe stopped trying to breathe and Gabriella's hand instantly shot to her mouth as fears filled her eyes and she shook her head in denial.

Everyone else tried to wake her up in panic but Hannah was the only one glaring at Bellamy.

"Your sister did this." she spat out accusingly.

Bryan's eyebrows furrowed, "How the hell did she know?"

Hannah gave Bellamy another glare, "We have traitors in our camp."

It was only a matter of time until they realized who the traitors were but Gabriella wasn't even worrying about that now. She was too busy grieving another member of the hundred.

a/n: I know the murphy x gabi shippers are gonna hate me but honestly idc because if you wanna write your own book where the oc is in an unrealistically happy relationship with him then go ahead but if you're looking for murphy x oc fluff then you're in a wrong place

that aside, I introduced james who is basically replacing bellamy's job of being pike's lap dog and he isn't gonna be a big character but I did imagine him as cody christian

anyways here's the picture of gabi literally this entire chapter
