"Pike knows."

Bellamy's alarmed voice made Gabriella snap her gaze away from the open Iliad sitting in her lap. Her eyebrows furrowed at the sweat that formed on his forehead despite the temperature being anything but warm and she didn't hesitate to put a piece of paper as a bookmark to know where she stopped reading and closed the book.

"Knows about what?" she asked with an almost hesitant edge to her tone. She hasn't left Bellamy's room since they came back last night, not even to go to the meeting Pike was having. She did wake up when Bellamy was about to leave and she would see he wasn't that excited to go either but him going was clearly necessary based on his panicked reaction to whatever happened.

"He knows someone here is a spy and is telling the grounders what he's doing. More specifically, he knows it's Kane." the curly headed boy informed her while running his fingers through his hair in obvious frustration.

"Shit." Gabriella cursed with wide eyes, shaking her head and scoffing under her breath, "Of course he does. Kane hasn't done anything but throw the fact that he's against Pike in his face since he got elected Chancellor. So he's not being even a bit subtle about it."

Bellamy nodded in agreement, his fist clenched as he sat down next to her on the bed. He rubbed his chin and stated, "Good thing he confronted me in the meeting room because it means Kane heard. We both know he would do something stupid to reveal himself."

"I'll meet him up when Pike heads to lunch." Gabriella concluded, resting one of her elbows on her knee and then resting her chin in the palm of that hand, "Kane never goes to lunch anyway. He and Abby always stay in."

"I know." Bellamy told her with a small weak smile, reaching forward to squeeze her knee in comfort, "How are you doing?"

Gabriella squinted her eyes at him in a '𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨?' look that made his smile turn more genuine. He watched the way her nose scrunched up in mild amusement and with admiration shining in his brown eyes. Ever since Pike came into the picture, he wasn't able to take a proper look at her. He only ever saw her calm when she was asleep. If you could even call her tossing and turning in her sleep calm.

He missed short moments like this where he could subtly appreciate the way her sandy blonde hair fell in front of her eyes, something she didn't notice until it would start tickling her nose or her upper lip which would only cause her to scrunch up her nose which always made Bellamy's insides absolutely melt. Everything about her seemed to do that to him. Starting with the way she glared at anyone that made a dumb or an unnecessary comment ( that person usually being him ) and ending with the way she would bite the inside of her bottom lip whenever she would think really hard about something and get lost in thought.

He especially loved the fact that despite them stating that they're nothing but fuck buddies who hate each each other, she somehow always seemed to bring out the best in him and she always fought to try and keep him on the good side of whatever war they were in the middle of.

Bellamy suddenly froze at his own thoughts. 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥? Holy shit.

He was in love with Gabriella.

Fuck.

Gabriella clearly hasn't picked up on his change in demeanor because she was too busy ghosting her fingers across the cover of the Iliad that way layed on the bed next to her. She bit the inside of her bottom lip and then finally looked up once she realized how silent he got.

"What?" she asked bluntly, her eyebrows furrowed slightly, "Do I have something on my face?"

Bellamy cleared his throat awkwardly, still in a bit of a daze because of his newfound realization but he quickly regained his poker face and took a hold of her hand to lift it from the Iliad and stop her from picking on the torn cover, "No but you clearly have a lot on your mind. Do you wanna talk about it?"

The blonde hesitated before releasing a heavy sigh, "I'm just worried about Monty more than anything else. I talked to Philip before we left last night and he said he hasn't spoken a word to him since he joined Pike out of the blue. I'm just scared I'm gonna lose him the same way we lost Monroe. I can deal with losing a lot of people but Monty is one of the good guys. He's supposed to be smart and he's supposed to know the difference between the good and the bad side."

Bellamy's face softened and he squeezed her hand. He didn't think about his actions and cupped her cold cheek in the palm of his hand to lift her head up. He gave her a small soft smile, trying to make her feel at least a little better, "You won't lose him. I'll make sure of it." a small hesitant pause, "We're family. We'll figure it out."

Gabriella felt a small smile tug at her lips at his words and nodded, the small spark back in her eyes that almost made Bellamy forget it was even gone to begin with.

"Yeah, family."

-

Apparently, all it took was for Bellamy and Gabriella to try and have a little peace and quiet for everything to start falling apart even faster than it was before. When they came out of their room, Philip informed them of the twelve clans surrounding Arkadia, ready to kill anyone that tried to cross the blockade. That is, unless they just hand over Pike ( which is something Gabriella would fully agree to if she was there ). James was trying to play smart and shot the two grounders who delivered the message which probably only made the entire situation worse.

Now, they found themselves back in the meeting room, discussing the small groups Pike sent out last night when they came back to Camp. Because one of them was massacred by the grounders. In all honesty, Gabriella didn't blame them one bit. An eye for an eye seemed only fair during war.

"Our lookouts confirm another three encampments just over that ridge." she heard James ramble to Pike but was too busy staring at Monty.

He looked like he hadn't a wink of sleep last night and she was pretty sure she knew the reason. It was obvious by the guilt he tried to hide but Gabriella could still see it. It was written all over his face.

"Well, they're not hiding from us that's for sure." Pike told his right hand. He turned towards Hannah with a curious look, "How many days can we keep our population fed without being able to send out hunting parties?"

"Food and water stores were already at less than sixty percent." Hannah informed him with a frown, "Now, it will take maybe a week before we go critical, two if we start rationing immediately."

Gabriella ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. Things just kept getting worse as each hour passed. There was no way in hell that they would survive the winter. Gods, they were already freezing their asses off before Pike showed up but they at least had Mount Weather supplies.

"Immediately it is." Pike concluded with a heavy sigh, his voice defeated.

"What about breaking the blockade?" Hannah asked dumbly, making Gabriella try her hardest not to scoff or roll her eyes.

"After the stunt Montgomery pulled this morning we will be too predictable." she said before even thinking, throwing a pointed glare James' way, something he rolled his eyes at but other than that, ignored her.

Surprisingly, Pike nodded in agreement and added, "Regardless, we can't engage the grounders until we've got our own people under control and that starts with Kane."

His last words were firmly directed towards Gabriella and she tried her best to not show any emotion at the mention of her uncle slash step father. Judging by the unwavering look of expectancy on his face, she figured he bought her act. When she nodded, he looked visibly pleased.

"I need you two to suspend access to the prisoners, no contact with anyone in camp. For all we know, they've been providing intel on the grounder villages to Kane."

Knowing that disagreeing would only cause Pike to grow suspicious, Bellamy and Gabriella simultaneously nodded. It was somehow easy though because they weren't the ones Kane was taking the information from. It was Octavia.

"Yes sure." Bellamy quipped, his voice void of emotion.

"And I wanted you to take over coordination of camp surveillance." Pike turned to Monty, making both him and Gabriella freeze, "We'll need new security protocols at all camp entrances."

Monty hesitated before taking a walkie from Pike's hand and suggesting, "Maybe, uh, changing critical passwords every twelve hours."

Pike smiled and nodded, "Good. Coordinate with your mom but keep the circle tight. Then there's the matter of campwide surveillance."

Gabriella felt her eyes briefly widen as she stared at the side of Pike's head. Monty seemed to be thinking the same because he quickly asked in disbelief, "You want us to spy on our people?"

The Chancellor closed his eyes momentarily before speaking, "We can't do what's needed to defend this camp if every order I give is leaked before it gets executed." 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦, "It's an old saying buts it's true; the walls have ears, and we can't afford any more assumptions about who's a friend and who isn't. Not your oldest acquaintance, not your husband, wife or lover," he looked at Bellamy and then at Gabriella, "not your family. We're fighting two wars now, and the more dangerous one is here inside this camp. We can't prove it yet, but Kane and his accomplices passed information to Octavia."

Bellamy froze at the mention of his sister's name but didn't say anything so Pike continued, "I know none of you signed up to investigate your neighbors, but Monroe and Lacroix died because the traitors in this camp sold them out to the grounders. Whoever did that will be hunted down and exposed for what they did to their own, for what they did to us. Now you get whatever resources, whatever personnel you need to make that happen. You're dismissed."

Gabriella bit her bottom lip, narrowing her eyes at the Chancellor and then nodding in fake understanding. She turned to Bellamy, who she realized was trying his hardest not to look pleased at the fact that Kane probably heard every word Pike said and then wrapped her hand around his wrist.

"We're on it, Sir." she called over her shoulder as she and Bellamy rushed out of the room.

-

"Results of this morning's mission's inventory was sobering. In no way do we currently have the ammo for an extended series of firefights, not even close."

Bellamy pursed his lips and asked, "So what's Plan B?"

"Our lookouts say the largest grounder encampment is in this valley, so we deploy an assault team in Rover One, and we do as much damage as we can with automatic weapons."

𝘙𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘯𝘦? 𝘈𝘴 𝘪𝘧. Gabriella scoffed inwardly, her fists clenching around the edge of the table she was leaning again. Pike could brainwash one of her best friends, he could slaughter how many grounders he wanted but there was no way in hell he was touching her car.

Everyone but Bellamy was obvious to her annoyance and the oldest Blake made a point to give her a subtle pointed look before he turned back to the map and listened to James.

"And they'll just fall back and make a run for reinforcements."

Pike's face flashed with annoyance and he gave him a deadpan look, "I'm counting on that. The only way there and back is over this ridge." he pointed to a ridge on the map, "Now, we can bottleneck their warriors and pick them off."

Bellamy squinted at him, "We got firepower for that?"

"We won't need it. We have a dozen concussive anti personnel devices in our armory." Gabriella tried her hardest to hide her shock as Pike continued, "I've already got weapons man rigging them with a remote trigger. We load the APDs into the rover and mine the field before we attack. After we strike, we lure their reinforcements onto the ridge and once we have enough grounders in the killing box ── "

"We detonate." Bellamy cut him off, gaping at the floor, "It'll buy us some time, but ── "

"Time is what we need." Pike interrupted Bellamy's obvious attempts to talk him out of it.

Gabriella swallowed and shook her head to herself. This guy really is Adolf Hitler incarnate. Kind of ironic based on the fact that he was her temporary History teacher back in eighth grade.

"We move at dawn." Pike's words left no room for argument and he soon left the room without a second glance at them.

There was nothing Gabriella or Bellamy could do right now without Pike finding out about them being spies and then arresting them for treason but the knowledge that Kane heard everything Pike was planning, gave her a small sense of hope.

-

Gabriella needed a break.

What she usually did to temporarily get her head focused on something else was either breaking or fixing stuff so that's how she found herself in Sinclair's garage.

It was only when she arrived there, that she realized they were planning something. The thing that gave it off was Kane sitting in the corner with a sketchy look on his face, reading a book. Gabriella furrowed her eyebrows and her eyes briefly connected with her step father, who gave her a barely there nod just as James stepped into the garage.

Gabriella watched curiously as the blond boy approached Sinclair, who was currently under one of the rovers.

"What are you up to?" she heard James ask him when he reached him.

Sinclair swiftly rolled out from beneath the car and raised an eyebrow at him, "Raven said the solenoid is acting up so I thought I'd swap it out."

James scoffed briefly and looked around the room, his eyes lingering on Kane's figure and then moving to where Gabriella was standing at the entrance, leaning against the wall.

"You got a work order for that?" James asked Sinclair with a knowing tone.

Sinclair nodded quickly, "Sure. I think it's on my desk."

When he got to his feet, he spared James a look before making a run for it. James looked as bored as ever and lifted his walkie to his lips, "Go."

A bunch or guards raided the garage before Gabriella could do as much as blink. Her eyes widened in alarm as they tackled Sinclair to the grounder and put handcuffs on him.

She didn't hesitate to rush towards him, immediately blocking him from James and glaring at Pike's lap dog, "What the hell are you doing?"

"There is no work order and there is nothing wrong with the car." he told her with an unamused look on his face, "He's one of them, Hastings. I suggest you get out of the way and let me handle this."

Gabriella was about to lunge at him when Bellamy came up from behind and wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her away from James' way and allowing him to get to Sinclair.

"It's a part of the plan." Bellamy hissed in her ear, loud enough for her to hear but quiet enough for everyone else not to.

James looked at Bellamy with a small smirk, giving Gabriella a smug look and then stepping towards Sinclair, "You're under arrest. The charge is treason."

-

"What the hell was that?" Gabriella almost yelled when she and Bellamg were safe in the privacy of his room.

Bellamy sighed and put his hands on his hips, "I told you it was a part of the plan."

"Well it's a shitty plan." the Hastings girl snapped, "Sinclair got arrested and Pike will probably have him killed or do it himself! Let's not even start about them finding the microphone I put in there too and then Pike accusing him of making it."

"Kane radioed me as soon as you left." Bellamy explained, his loud tone matching her own, "The plan was to get Sinclair arrested to get Lincoln a message. They're breaking them out tonight."

Gabriella blinked in surprise, now feeling a bit guilty for lashing out but by the look on Bellamy's face, she knew he was unfazed. Her shoulders slumped and she almost looked sheepish.

"Oh." she blinked and looked down at the floor, "Sorry."

She sat down on the edge of the bed and put her face in the palms of her hands and rubbed her face, "I just feel like I have no idea what the hell is going on anymore. I feel like I can't trust anyone even when they're the people closest to me and I'm paranoid. I barely sleep and when I do I get nightmares. And it isn't just the day we pulled the lever. It's the second Mount Weather massacre. It's Gina dying. It's an Azgeda scout holding a knife to Jasper's throat. It's John. It's members of the hundred dying one by one. Not just flashbacks of that happening either. I get dreams of Monty dying, Nate dying, Jasper dying," a small pause where Gabriella hesitated, "even you. And I can't lose you."

Bellamy understood the feeling. It was one of the many ways they "bonded" after Mount Weather. They both had nightmares and therefore had a mutual understanding. They didn't specifically talk about it and they didn't have to. Sometimes they didn't even have to talk to understand what the other was feeling and that's what Gabriella appreciated about their relationship so much. Like it or not, Bellamy was her person and he understood her better than anyone else did right now.

That's why his soft and gentle whisper was enough to have her fall completely into his embrace.

"You won't lose me."

The two of them finally shared a moment of peace, their foreheads resting against each other. Gabriella fluttered her eyes open only to see he was already looking at her with so much intensity it almost scared her. They shared multiple moments when they found themselves into this position but she wasn't sure it was ever as intense as this was.

She finally allowed herself to give in and leaned forward, only to be snapped back into reality when an alarm rang through Arkadia.
