He could feel hands cupping his cheeks, trailing down to grab his shoulder and shaking him awake. When he had opened his eyes, he saw himself staring down at his own body with a red-haired male crying out.

"Seonghwa! Seonghwa! Don't leave me! Please... Don't- Don't leave me..." He crouched down beside the red-haired male, dropping his head on his shoulder.

'Hongjoong, I'm sorry that I won't be able to come tomorrow. I was looking forward to it too.' He muttered, his arms sliding to wrap him into a back-hug. He propped his chin, facing Hongjoong then leaned forward to leave a peck on his cheek.

"I love you, Seonghwa. Please, please wake up. I love you! You hear me? I love you, please..."

Then there is a loud screeching noise filling his ears, the world suddenly going blurry around him before it faded into darkness.

He gasped awake, scrambling up from his position. He groaned and clenched his eyes shut at the sudden dizzying headache that welcomed him.

He felt as if there was a hammer pounding on his head, his heart beating too fast to even be considered normal. He gritted his teeth at the sudden pain that shot through his chest and back.

He was able to breathe freely when the headache had gone to a dull feeling, his chest and back numbing from the pain before fading away completely. He took deep breaths, exhaustion filling him immediately from dealing with the pain.

When he is assured that nothing hurts anymore, he opens his eyes. He raised his head to a sight of pinkish violet clouds with rays of yellow and orange trailing in between. He placed his hand down, a soft cotton-like texture meeting his palm.

Tilting his head to the side, he placed one foot on the ground and tried to stand up before falling down completely due to the heavy weight on his back.

As he was about to turn his head to check, he heard a voice in front of him.

"You're awake." Startled and surprised, his eyes meet a person with giant white angel wings on his back. Wait... He looked back, spotting the same feathered wings splayed behind him. "You must be confused." He stated the obvious as Seonghwa turns his head towards him once again. He'll deal with the fact that he has wings later.

"Where am I?" Seonghwa asked, moving his body so that he is sitting on his knees. He scanned the person in front of him, tons of questions threatening to leave his mouth.

"I'm Inseong." He has a rather pointed look with a narrow face and thinned-out eyes, much like a fox he is reminded of and he has silver hair falling over his eyes. A heart-shaped tattoo is neatly placed on his left cheek and he can see a small dimple when he smiles.

"Let's have some tea first." Inseong raised his hand and gestured some sort of sign with his fingers. Seonghwa gasped when a teapot and two teacups popped out of nowhere with the fog and smoke and all that. He watches as the teapot floats over the teacups and pours tea in it.

"What...? How...?" There are so many questions running in his head at the moment and none of it has been answered yet. With a smile, Inseong gestured for him to drink tea.

"We're currently in heaven." Seonghwa could only blink at the information before spatting his tea out with a choked gasp. "Happens to the best of us." He shrugged, waiting for Seonghwa to regain his composure.

"Sorry." He waved his hands around, sipping on the tea again to at least have a taste of it (and probably to not hurt Inseong's feelings). "This..." It tastes too familiar. He took another sip, trying to place a finger as to why it felt like he had this before. It wasn't even considered a tea especially with the sweet strawberry taste filling his taste buds.

"Seems familiar?" Inseong smiled, looking down at the teacup. "It's called soulmate tea." There was a twinge of sadness laced in his voice as if he was remembering something.

"Should... Uh... Questions?"

"Great wordings." Inseong smacks his hands together, intertwining them and leaning forward with interest. "You're a guardian angel." Seonghwa spats his tea out once again, having a cough fit as Inseong seems unaffected from the shock he had given.

"I'm currently a middle-class guardian angel, a substitute that takes over the shifts of specific guardian angels assigned to me." Seonghwa looked up, placing his teacup down on the (cloud?) floor. "You're a newly born guardian angel. I am assigned to guide you to carry out your duties." He stood up, holding out a hand for Seonghwa to take.

"I'm confused..."

"It is a lot to take in. I was also overwhelmed when I first awoke here." He bitterly laughed at the memory. "The only difference was I had to know everything by myself. Middle-classes or things like that didn't exist before."

"...before?" Now that Seonghwa thought about it, that must have meant that the world was revolving before he had awoken. Was he really born as a guardian angel? or did he have a purpose before this?

"Come on, my arm is killing me." Seonghwa snapped out of his thoughts, apologising profusely at having to forget to take Inseong's hand. "Let me introduce you to your duties first before the questions." The world around them shifted as Seonghwa stood up from the cloud floor.

"Oh!" He almost screeched upon noticing that he was floating in the air. It was as if they were inside an invisible box on top of the city buildings.

"This is Earth." He pointed out. Seonghwa could see tall buildings reaching the skies with houses and small stores fiddled in between. There are rarely any trees that he could see but he did see some smoke polluting the air. "It has cars, advanced technology and things like that. We will have that lesson once you don't feel overwhelmed."

Seonghwa somehow could feel a slight connection to the place. He has this buzz in his head like static in an unavailable television. He couldn't help but let the thought wander in his head.

'This is far from the Earth that I have come to be familiar with.' Yet, how could he say that? His memories could only go as far as when he had woken up an hour ago. There wasn't anything that flashes in his head that reminds him of any of this.

"It used to be filled with cottages and little to no buildings. It used to be refreshing, but now it is filled with many corrupted humans and those that are innocent are dragged down with them. They let themselves be devoured by dark creatures." He hissed at the mention, shaking his head then turned to Seonghwa. "This is one of the rules of your duty as a guardian angel. You must eliminate each and every dark creature that you encounter. They are a danger."

"Dark creatures?"

"Vampires, devils, demons, and all alike. They are all the same. They kill, they corrupt." Inseong sighed, "Their scents will give it away, which I will also explain later on." He nodded, following along with Inseong's introduction.

"On Earth, there are plenty of stairways to heaven. It could be used for low-class angels to access. In that case, guardian angels can appear in heaven with merely a word and you are there."

"There are so many classes of angels." Inseong nodded, letting out a defeated sigh as he rubbed his thumb and index finger on his forehead.

"A lot. As I said, I will explain later. I will start off with rules and duties." He listened carefully to each and every word, "You are one of the high-class guardian angels. You will be assigned to one human to protect them until they can protect themselves. It is clearly up to you if you want to befriend them disguised as a human and watch over them, or you can just watch over them."

"What's the difference? You'll still watch over the same, no?"

"Well, being disguised as a human is rather a way to pass time. When you just watch over them with complete invisibility, it's quite boring." Seonghwa hummed in acknowledgement. "However, there are certain rules in disguising as a human as well."

"Have you tried that?" He turned his curious gaze towards Inseong.

"Yeah... Yeah, I did." His eyes turned downcast, a subtle moment of pain twisting in his feature. "You will have a lot of fun, but it's all up to you." He took a deep breath and then smiled at Seonghwa.

"The rules are quite simple. Never swear or lie as you will taste a bitter ugly taste in your mouth. You cannot reveal what you are and no one must find out. You are not allowed to mingle with dark creatures, it is your task to eliminate them immediately."

"How do I eliminate them?" He asked.

Inseong snapped his fingers, a small bubble of clouds appearing in front of them before it vanished into a silver staff with what seemed to be a gem on top, a branch surrounds the gem with lightly blooming white flowers and dangling little lights.

"This is a specific staff that is designated to tarnish all dark creatures. To let them appear, you can just say or think 'tuebor' and it will appear. You can have practice for this later."

"That's a lot of things to do." Seonghwa felt quite overwhelmed, glancing down at the Earth that he will work on. "What if I don't get to carry out the rules?"

"Swearing, lying, and revealing yourself are only minor punishments. However, mingling with dark creatures and failure to eliminate them are major. You will be forever bound in the lowest of angels, suffering with no help to come." He sucked in a breath, "It's a horrible consequence and if that may ever happen to you..." Inseong turned to him, "Tell me immediately. I am the only person that you can trust in heaven. If you have a perfectly good reason, then that is more reason for me to help you."

"Oh..." There was something in Inseong's eyes that tells him that there is more to the story that he doesn't know. "Thank you."

"No need to thank me. I am your supervisor after all." He waved his hand dismissively, "Oh, I will also be keeping an eye on you as your supervisor. Us, middle-class angels are tasked to watch over the high-class angels."

"I'm still quite confused on that part, will you tell me more about angels?"

Inseong chuckled, "That's a lot of discussions, do you want to roam around the city while we talk about it?" Seonghwa immediately nodded, excited at seeing the city from another perspective.

Once they have settled down in the city after a preparation of Inseong teaching Seonghwa how to make his wings disappear and how to change clothes, they finally get to roam around the city.

There are a lot of people buzzing around him, a rectangular machine pressed in their ears or tapping it with their thumbs can be seen all around. When he had asked, he discovered it to be an advanced technology that is called a smartphone.

'That didn't exist back then.' He shrugged away the thought, questioning himself why he keeps commenting like that.

"There are two ranks of angels. Superiors and Inferiors. We are part of the Inferiors which have low-class, middle-class and high-class." Seonghwa listened despite his attention focused solely on the huge buildings that surrounded them.

"A low-class are angels that have broken the rule and are stripped away from their powers. One could say that they are similar to a human, however, they suffer." He shivered at the thought of suffering, "A middle-class, such as I, are guardian angels or simply angels that are tasked to supervise the high-class such as I have mentioned before, we can also take a substitute for the guardian angels but they can assign a low-class to supervise as well. A high-class like you are guardian angels that have the capability to control their powers, do their duties, and are just downright powerful. Dark creatures are unable to spot them due to their scent being unable to be picked up on. It is also the first stage of which..." Inseong halted in his words, hesitating to continue.

"That's the class we are born with?" He furrowed his eyebrows at the sudden hesitation.

"Uh, yeah! Yeah, that." Inseong flinched, looking away from Seonghwa. "Yeah, anyways. Superiors. Superiors are those that can control an angel's life and rank them to which class they are. They are the angels that have been chosen by God, Himself."

"About the powers? What do you mean that we are powerful?"

"You are capable of a lot of things. Healing, empathy, and even opening the gates of hell. There is a lot that I particularly don't remember so I'll give you the book that Jaemin-ssi and Jeno-ssi provided me." He blinked at the names mentioned, Inseong noticed the confusion and laughed. "They are one of the superiors. Quite troublemakers but they get away with it easily."

Inseong took a deep breath, "There are also Triads of Angels. It is different from the classes themselves. This includes the highest of the highest. To summarise, the third triad contains the Angels, Archangels, and the Principalities. The second triad contains the Powers, Virtues, and Dominions. Lastly, we have the highest rank which is the first triad, containing the Ophanim, Cherubim, and Seraphim. You'll... You'll find out eventually about these triads later in life." He shivers at the mention of the highest triad, something akin to terror flashing in his eyes before it's gone in a flash.

"Now, about the scents, I have told you before. High-class have no scent and they can go undetected. However, when you disguise yourself as a human, it is better to prepare yourself with a human scent perfume so that the dark creatures will either lure themselves to you or be unable to tell what you really are." Inseong starts to explain the complicated process of scents, "I'll detail it down for you to easily remember."

As Inseong explains, Seonghwa lists down all those that he got from the scents. "Middle-class and high-class angels sport no scents, however, low-class angels are a different case as they have the smell of a Sampaguita, a sambac jasmine which has a much stronger scent to lure that of a devil. A vampire has the smell of blood, like metal rust of some sort. A demon has the smell of rotten eggs, while a devil has the smell of burning logs which is a very rich smell, this scent allows them to lure other creatures in as it is very inviting. On the other hand, humans and werewolves differ in scent and it depends on each of their bodies."

"I might have to get used to that. I am terrible at memorising." Inseong laughed, patting his shoulder. "I think that once I am assigned to a human, I want to try disguising myself."

"A lot of preparation to do then. How about I tour you around here first so that you can familiarise yourself and pick a suitable house for your liking." Seonghwa nodded, "Oh, also I think you'll have this thought. In every country, there are different angels and the way they rule is also different. We are currently situated in Korea, and we can only stay there and assign a specific human in that area."

"Ah, I'm not that curious but thank you."

"Not a nosy guardian angel, I see." He teased Seonghwa. "Well, this might take a whole day so let's get walking."
