Moving through the lake, Yoshi couldn't help but remember the events that had unfolded here. How everything had changed in just a few moments.
(Flashback)
"Mr. Park?" Byeol's eyes widened as she saw him standing in their lounge.
"Oh, Mrs. Han, pleasure meeting you again." Yoshi turned around, facing her.
"Same to you, Mr. Park," she replied, forcing a smile and bowing slightly.
Yoshi sat down on one of the couches. Seeing this, Byeol mumbled, "I'm so sorry, Mr. Park, but Jun isn't home right now."
"Oh, I wasn't here to meet him anyway," he replied, his smile widening unnervingly.
Byeol just stood there, not understanding his intentions.
"Won't you bring me something to drink, Byeol?" he asked, his eyes scrutinizing her as she stood frozen.
"Oh yeah—I'm sorry, I'll do it right away," she said, faking a smile and making her way to the kitchen.
Byeol was busy pouring drinks into glasses when she suddenly felt someone's presence behind her. She turned around, flinching at the sight.
"Mr. Park—" she stammered as she saw him sniffing her neck, standing dangerously close.
"You were taking too long, Byeol, so I thought I'd check up on you," he said, his hand reaching for hers that was gripping the counter.
Byeol was horrified; she tried freeing her hand, but his grip tightened, feeling like the countertop might crack under the pressure.
"Y-you should go outside; I'll bring them to you," Byeol managed to stutter.
"Ordering your husband's boss now, aren't you?" he smirked, getting even closer.
"Mr. Park, please move away," she said, trying her best not to break down.
"You smell so good, Byeol. Jun is definitely lucky to have you," Yoshi whispered in her ear, making her tremble.
Summoning her courage, she pushed him with all her might, making him stumble. Byeol seized the opportunity to run away. She ran and ran, finally ending up in front of one of the rooms. She went in, locking the door behind her. Silence prevailed for a few minutes as she sat on the floor, catching her breath.
But it didn't last long. The very next moment, she heard footsteps approaching. "Mom, what are you doing in there? Open the door, please," soft knocks came from outside. Byeol's eyes widened as she realized who was knocking.
"B-baby," she sobbed, recognizing her seven-year-old son's voice.
"Byeol, what is this? Your son is calling you; why don't you unlock the door now!" Yoshi said, patting the little boy's head.
Hearing his voice and knowing her son was with him, Byeol didn't think twice before unlocking the door. "Leave my son alone," she spat, suddenly confident.
"Oh, if that's what you want," Yoshi blinked innocently before letting go of the boy's hand, who instantly ran forward, hugging his mom. "How cute," he mumbled, dramatically wiping nonexistent tears.
"Go back to your room, baby," Byeol said, breaking the hug as she tried hiding her tears.
"But mom—"
The little boy was cut off by Yoshi saying, "Didn't you hear your mom, kiddo? Go back to your room. You're a good boy, right?"
The boy looked into his mom's eyes, who nodded, making him leave for his room upstairs.
As soon as he left, Yoshi took predatory steps towards Byeol. She backed away as far as she could, ending up tripping over the couch.
"You are so pretty, Byeol. It's a shame I got to see your beauty this late," he murmured, approaching her.
"Stay away," she tried her best not to stutter.
Chuckling to himself, Yoshi moved even closer. But just as he was about to touch her, he felt a sudden force at the back of his head. His hand immediately grabbed the spot as he realized what she had done. Blood dripped from the back of his head where Byeol had smashed a flower pot. His hands turned red with blood as he staggered back, giving her a chance to stand and run upstairs.
"You will regret this, Byeol. You will—argh," he groaned in pain, struggling to stand.
Byeol sobbed, hugging her little son who was unaware of everything. She didn't unlock the door nor made any loud sounds, just sobbed, holding her son tightly. She was sure Yoshi had left but a sense of impending danger lingered. She knew he would do something, and knowing how powerful he was, she couldn't help but be terrified.
