It all started with a letter. One letter addressed to Y/n Jefferson in Monte Cello, Virginia. One letter that tore up Maria's divorce case. One letter telling of her sudden death.

Dear Y/n Jefferson,

I regret to inform you that Maria Lewis Reynolds was found dead in her living room on the twentieth of July. Her body was covered with wounds and bruises, a knife also found embeded in her stomach.

Her husband James Reynolds is currently being held in a priso until proven innocent by law. Her children, Madeline Lewis Reyonlds and Suan Lewis Reynolds, are still currently living in the Reynold household. I request you take them in your care until a proper home is found.

This case is under current investigation, a trial to be happening three months hence. All that is uncertain is who exactly caused Miss Lewis' death and what this person's inentions were.

Stay safe, Ms. Jefferson. Stay safe and beware the truth.

Sincerely,
-

Nothing. It wasn't signed by a name, which made it harded to track who the letter was from. The address wasn't stated either.

Lots of things don't add up here.

Who wrote this letter? Why send it to Y/n? Who killed Maria Reynolds? Are Madeline and Susie alright? Why does it say "beware the truth"?

But that was all yesterday.

Today as a new day. A fresh start for Y/n to do some new things and possibly solve a murder mystery.

Her first destination for the day was the Reynolds (Lewis... whatever) household. She needed to check on Maria, Mads, and Susie.

She knocked on the door, and impatiently waited for an answer. She repeatedly tapped her foot on the ground, anxious to what comes next.

Madeline opened the door. Her hazel eyes red and puffy from mourning and grieving. She wore a black dress, with a white colar and bits of white on the sleeves.

"O-oh." She sniffed. "It.. it's you."

Y/n pulled Madeline into a hug before she can say anything. She knew what Madeline was going through, she knew what it was like losing someone... losing a mother.

Madeline wrapped her arms around Y/n her braided curls bouncing at her fast actions. Madeline quietly sobbed into Y/n's shoulder, hoping Susan wouldn't come to the door.

"Sh, it's gonna be fine." Y/n said.

"No... you don't understand she..." Madeline caught herself. Mom told her a secret, one she shouldn't tell anyone.

So she gave out a louder sob, hoping that Y/n would brush it off as Madie cutting herself with crying.

Sure it was sad losing her mother, bt Madeline knew it was gonna happen. She studied people, she knew their intentions before they themselves knew.

Mads steadied her breathing, pulling away from the hug and wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Susie is inside." She said, geasturing for Y/n to come in.

Sadness and silence befell the house. Y/n couldn't believe she had just been here yesterday. Everything seemed so fast, so sudden, so... planned.

Susan was on the couch, hugging her knees and crying into them, her whole body trembling and shaking.

Y/n gently began calming her down, hugging her and telling her things will get better.

"Do you two have any caretakers here?" Y/n asked, Susan still in her arms.

"Sadly, no." Madeline replied. "Father is currently... else where and no other living relatives are willing to take us."

Y/n nodded sadly. But an idea sparked inside her head, she smiled up at Madeline and proposed her plan.

"S-stay? Wi-with you? A-and you d-dad?" She asked.

Y/n simply nodded. "My father will help. I'm sure of it. Besides, he needs someone to hang out with while I finish up with the last month of college."

Madie though for a moment then came to a conclusion. "I suppose living in Virginia wouldn't be so bad. Right, Susie?"

"If it means we kinda get a family, then yes." Susan asked, smiling.

"Then it's settled!" Y/n said, clasping her hands together. "You two pack, I'll be back here. Just got some... things to do."

It had been three months since Y/n last saw Philip, and three months since they talked about life and other stuff. She has to admit, she missed Child Hamilton and his stupidity and PhilipDying™.

Eliza gave Y/n a sad smile. "I'm sorry, but he isn't home, now." She answered, biting her lip.

"Oh, uhm. Can you tell him I stopped by?" Y/n asked, slightly disappointed.

Eliza gave her a quick nod and slowly and awkwardky began to shut the door.

"I'm just gonna... close this." She then quickly shut the front door, leaving a confused Y/n on the porch.

"Ah, okay." Y/n said. "That happened..."

She sighed and made her away out of the Hamilton household and off to another one.

This time it was John Payne Madison. Sure, she was mad at him for no reason, the guy literally just showed up and she began making a scene. Well, after Philip and John made a scene.

Making a scene after a scene. Fun.

She missed talking to him and walking with him to class. Those were back when all this... insanity didn't happen.

She knocked on the door and Eunice answered, a confused look on her face.

"He--"

"John isn't home." She said.

"Really?" Y/n asked. How did she know?

"Uhm, no. He's just ignoring you because he still kinda has a crush on you but kinda doesn't and he's contemplating a lot on it." Eun answered.

"Okay, wow." Y/n replied. Then yelled into the house. "REAL MATURE SNEEZY!"

"The allergies run in the family." Eunice said.

"Oh, I wasn't--"

"I'm gonna close the door now before John comes to attack." Eunice said.

"Attack you or me?"

"You and I both know him well enough that he's gonna accidentally hurt the door." Eun said, a small smile on her face.

"He'll be apologizing to it all afternoon." Y/n added, giggling.

"Heh. Yeah." She said. "Okay, bye now."

Eunice shut the door on Y/n's face. Is this what door-to-door salesmen feel?

Y/n sighed and began making her way back to the Reynolds'.

"Welcome to your new hopefully not temporary home!" Y/n said as she waltzed into the mansion.

This was the biggest how Madeline and Susan have seen. For once, Susan was happy and excited. Her dark brown eyes lighting up with pure innocent kiddie joy that no adult ever had left.

She bounced around the room and poked everytging she thought was cool. And she thought everything was cool. It was a miracle she didn't break anything.

"THIS IS SO COOL!!" Susan yelled as she scrambled around the place, poking everything another time.

"Thank you again, Y/n for letting us stay." Madeline said.

Y/n nodded. "No problem, Madeline. Anything to help." She said.

"Miss Y/n, you're ho... ooookay, who is this small child?" Emma asked as she walked into the room.

Y/n had forgiven her and the whole "I helped your sister run away lol" thing and both have gotten closer the past three months.

"Em, meet Madeline and Susan Lewis Reynolds." Y/n said, smiling. "Guys this is Emma Hay, my sist... a friend of mine."

"She owns me."

"Emma, these two are gonna live with us for a while and hopefully forever." Y/n said.

"Well, it is a pleasure." Emma said, giving a curtsy. "ShallI alert your... Jefferdad of your arrival?"

"That would be the best, Ems." Y/n said. "Thanks!"

"No problem." Emma said, walking up the stairs to Thomas' study.

But she raced back down the stairs and ran to where Susan was. Susie was poking a flower vase with red roses in them.

"Child, no." Emma told Susan before running back up the stairs.

"That's such an Eliza thing to do." Madeline muttered.

"What?"

"Nothing important."

Silence makes it way to the pair as they stand awkwardly by each other. Madeline kept her eyes on her sister, making sure she didn't wreck the place.

Y/n was looking up at Madeline, since Madeline was taller, the same height as Philip.

Dammit, why is everyone taller than me?

"So, your dad... is he--"

"Y/NNNNNNN!!!!!" Thomas yelled and slid down the hand rail. Man, he was such a kid sometimes. "And two strangers, hello kiddos."

Y/n hugged her father and began introductions. "Dad, this is Madeline and Susan. Y'all, this is my father, Thomas Jefferson."
