Dear Alfred
Dear Alfred,
I'm afraid I don't know quite what to say.
On one hand: I want these letters to continue... Even though I haven't been writing back, I've been receiving them, and they brighten my day.
On the other hand, however: For our safety... The letters should stop.
I'm sorry to hear about Arthur. I don't have a say in what happens. I'm just a soldier here for the Japanese. I'm not a leader of any kind.
Frankly, if I had a say... I wouldn't be in this war.
Take care until you are able to respond.
Best Wishes,
Kiku. 5/25/1941
