Till Death Do Us Part - Whumptober 19

Event: Whumptober, Day 19

Prompt: Grief | Mourning Loved Ones | Survivors Guilt

Characters: Quackity, Tommy, MrBeast

Extra Notes: Mentions of suicide and major character death, read with caution. The backstory for this is basically the Indian mafia has been after Jimmy since being offered large sums of money by T-Series CEO Bhushan Kumar for his head. But when they started threatening to capture Alex, he kills himself in order to avoid anyone else getting hurt.

Dressed in their best hypebeast merch, the air was somber and lifeless. Alex held his friend to his side doing his best to hide the tears streaming down his face.

"Take a breath, you're fine Big Q. You can let out your emotions, I mean this is a funeral for crying out loud."

"Alex."

"Huh?"

"Just... just call me Alex, Tommy..."

"Um, right..." Tommy felt incredibly out of place here. Surrounding him we're mourning coworkers and business associates and family. But Tommy was a mere acquaintance of Jimmy Donaldson's and despite being there as mostly emotional support for Alex, it still felt a bit strange. His eyes kept darting back and forth, familiar faces passing by that didn't know him. Of course, there was a small part of Tommy interested in networking with these big names but he held back his urges and stuck with Alex. He could do that at the after-party Jimmy's will insisted they throw.

"They want me to stop by the open casket, can I trust you alone for a moment?"

"Ya, I'm not here to cause any chaos don't worry." Alex went into the other room and Tommy took a seat on a chair in the lobby sector of the Church. The blond was in no way religious but he had to admit the Christians had a way with decorating. Watching his reflection in the stained glass panes, his friend returned some few minutes later crying into Karl's chest. Tommy looked down, he didn't like seeing him like this.

"You're TommyInnit right?" The source of the voice was Chris, tear stains on the collar of his hoodie.

"Mhm?"

"I'll take you to the main funeral room I dunno what you call it. I think Alex needs a minute for himself. Guiding him down the halls, Chris began to speak. "Ya know before Jimmy died, he talked about doing collabs with you. He really respects your dedication to the grind. I'm sure that if there is some sort of afterlife, he's watching over you." All the boy could do was smile and nod, surprised to hear the man knew him that much. The reception began not too long after, Alex joining him in the front row with his family and friends. He gave a speech on his late friend and stutters broke his flow. Tommy wished he could offer comforts for his troubled mind but he was never the best with emotions. With the reception and burial complete, the afterparty lay ahead as a beacon of hope. Perhaps he could relax in the company of familiars.

"Ready to go Al?"

"Y-ya..." The car was oh-so tense. Cold AC blared in his face making his eyes divert from Alex's sorrows until he realized the vehicle's motions were a little jerky. "Toms... Toms, it's all my fault..."

"What's all your fault?"

"I've been thinkin' 'bout it... Tommy, his suicide can only be blamed for by me."

"Hey don't say shit like that."

"Don't let me wallow in denial! M-maybe if I act-actually fucking protected him he wouldn't be dead!"

"Alex-"

"I KNOW HE HATED DEATH SO MUCH IT FELT LIKE A NIGHTMARE TOMMY! HE WOULDN'T HAVE DONE THIS IF SOMEONE HADN'T RUINED HIM-"

"ALEX!" Fear in Tommy's eyes, he took hold of the wheel and swerved the car around, shoving it into a patch of grass on the side of the road.

Silence.

The two gasped for air as Alex came to terms with what almost happened. After several minutes, he finally spoke up.

"...I think you should drive..."
