Chapter Thirteen: Positively Evil
Happy Birthday coolbattlegirl1341
I lost so much time...
This was Error realized once Nightmare spoke with him, he knew Fate had let his insane self run crazy as long as he destroyed but still...
So much had changed from his last moments of sanity.
Too many people knew he existed now, from his rampages of destruction and Inky spreading his infamy.
Inky..
No.. Ink.
The person he had known was gone now, now so shallow and creating without care.
"Error, There is something I wish to speak of you of," Nightmare said, he led them to an abandoned AU where he and his friends.. I mean minions.. yes minions lived.
"What is it Nightmare?" Error asked curious.
"We need to talk about Dream," Nightmare said, he guided Error through his castle to a private set of rooms and closed the door behind him.
"Your twin," Error replied.
"yes, its time you knew... the true ending of Dreamtale," Nightmare said with a sigh.
Like in all stories, the spirit of the tree of feelings created twins.
Nightmare and Dreams, there final forms that of skeletal children that would guard the apples from the foolish and greedy.
Dream was outgoing and happy, and Nightmare was shy and happier enjoying life and quietness. The dark guardian would often find himself doing things he didn't like, and Dream seemed to enjoy controlling him.
Nightmare at this time in life had no idea that Dream's control over everything he did wasn't natural.
After all dream was his twin, his beloved brother.
Nightmare hadn't learned what evil was yet.
But he would.
Then came the humans and there village, Nightmare wasn't exactly happy as these people would bring more chances of the greedy coming for the apples.
He quickly learned the humans hated him and loved Dream, and he couldn't figure out why.
They beat him.
A few tried to murder him.
He remembered too clearly when they once broke both his legs, and he had to crawl back to the tree.
"Dream... help," he begged his twin, who had found him leaning against the tree dripping marrow and in pain.
"But brother, there so happy. What makes them happy makes me happy," Dream laughed, and walked away.
Dream was not sane.
Positivity didn't mean goodness.
Thus hell began...
There was no escape, and Dream would just smile as others positivity just gave him power.
Then came... that final day.
Nightmare wished he was dead, as his body was almost to the dusting point.
Tears had long ago stopped falling, he had no tears left to give.
The only thing these.. things... hadn't done was violate his body.
He knew that if he lived through the night they probably would, they were all caught up in Dreams twisting web of lies and pretty words and aura they didn't know right from wrong now.
"Tsh... still alive," Dream said, idly kicking Nightmare's ribs as the villagers laughed at the pained skeleton.
"Not.. giving... satisfaction," Nightmare hissed out in painful bursts.
"There only needs to be one guardian," Dream said, forcing Nightmare's head up so they were face to face.
Nightmare spit.
"Just die already," Dream said, tossing him away, walking away to the village he controlled.
Nightmare lay there, knowing Dream would win... he would die here alone and unloved.
And once he was gone, how long till Dreams influence spread beyond the village?
"I'm sorry... mother... failed," he whispered as stars began to spread across the night sky.
Snap...
Thump...
Nightmare looked in shock, as an apple actually fell from above.
A dark apple.
Right in the palm of his hand.
"Mother...?" he whispered.
My darling child... eat
His mothers voice, after so long.
He ate.
And ate.
He couldn't allow any apple to continue to exist within Dreams hands.
By the rime Dream reappeared enraged, Nightmare had already lost himself to the curse of the apples.
Dream as a statue was better then killing his twin, no matter who evil Dream truly was he was still his brother.
Unlike what people thought, Nightmare left no apples behind.
