Sparrow doesn't know what's going on. She isn't sure what she sees and hears or if they're real, and she doesn't really know if she wants it to stop or not. She can't understand the voices and she can't make out any clear images.

She's lost in her own mind.

There will be instances where Sparrow is eating cereal in the kitchen or something and she'll hear unfamiliar people talking as if they were in the room with her, or even a room over. She'll look up and see no one, or just a stray Peter Parker eating a pop-tart or another Avenger fueling up on a hearty breakfast. She'll pop her head out of the doorway into the hall or the living room and won't see anyone to match the voices to.

Sometimes it's a flash of light, but sometimes she's taken somewhere else for a few seconds and then have it all flicker back to normal with a blink of an eye. The longest, most vivid time Sparrow has experienced such visual flashes is when Vision is preparing a dish for all the Avengers as an Independence Day meal. Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlett Witch, is also in the kitchen when Sparrow starts to hear the voices again.

Most times it's the same voices, but every now and then she'll get a new one bouncing around in her brain. Now, as she's leaning against the counter laughing with Wanda about Vision's poor cooking skills, she hears a very familiar voice. It's the deep, gruff voice from the dream that woke her up last week. The voice sounds so crisp in her ears that she turns, expecting to see the owner of the voice right behind her. As always, no one's there. She just stares at the window overlooking a lit city.

Wanda notices Sparrow's sudden distractedness and glances behind the raven-haired girl's shoulder. She sees the city as Sparrow does and looks back at her new friend.

When Sparrow turns back around, she meets Wandas's suspicious and curious gaze. She tucks a lock of her hair behind her ear and says, "The city's pretty at night."

Wanda smiles. Her suspicion drops as she steps to stand at Sparrow's side. "It is pretty, isn't it?" Wanda marvels as she gazes out at the buzzing city below them. One of her hands rests against the glass. "Especially from way up here."

"ya gazma yibn ig-gazma!"

Sparrow flinches and turns away from the large window. Wanda watches as the girl's metal hands clench and her face twists.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Sparrow lies.

"alwuquf , 'ant jaban."

The harsh voice rings in her ears as if the man was standing right next to her, shouting in her face.

Sparrow presses a hand to her forehead and mutters, "My head hurts" when Wanda looks at her with concern. Sparrow brushes past the other girl and exits the kitchen. As soon as she steps out of the room she expects to be in the hallway, but when she looks up, she freezes in her steps. The walls are no longer spotless, the floors are no longer smooth tile, and the long hall is gone.

Her eyes dart around the space. There's something so familiar about it, yet she can't remember seeing this place before.

Dusty air fills her lungs as she inhales, taking in her surroundings. Concrete floors, concrete walls—where is she?

Sparrow leans back, starting to head back into the kitchen, but her back backs into a solid wall. She spins on her heel and her eyes widen. The doorway to the kitchen is gone.

"Sparrow?"

She blinks, and then she's back in the tower. The air isn't musky and the floor is shiny. Sparrow rotates in a circle, brow furrowed as she examines the room. Her eyes eventually land on a familiar Avenger.

"Steve."

Sparrow forces a strained smile to cover up what just happened. That place felt so real, but she knows it was just in her head. She never really left the tower.

Steve, who was just passing by when he saw his newest teammate looking lost and confused in the hall, narrows his eyes at Sparrow. He was ready to devour whatever Vision was cooking since he just finished an exuberayting training session, but the food could wait. There is obviously something wrong going on with the girl in front of him.

Bucky told Steve about Sparrow mentioning a nightmare and how he found her in the gym while everyone was sleeping. Steve already knew something was bothering Sparrow. Now he's starting to think whatever's bothering the raven-haired girl is a bigger issue than a few nightmares.

"Everything okay?" He asks skeptically.

Sparrow gulps. She usually brushes everything off, but something about Steve Rogers just makes a person want to spill their heart and soul out to him. She debates whether or not to tell him about the voices and the flashes, but stops herself from word-vomiting.

She nods, knowing if she opened her mouth the truth would come out. The fact that she has a metal arm is already alarming enough, but what if everyone knew her strangeness didn't stop there? If they knew she was seeing things and heard voices in her head, they'd think she was even more of a freak.

But she doesn't want to be a threat. Things could get out of hand.

So, putting everything on the line for the safety of her teammates, she says stiffly, "Actually, could I speak to a doctor?"

"I thought you weren't a doctor?"

Steve stands by Sparrow's side as they face Tony. The billionaire shrugs, quickly looking over Sparrow since she requested a doctor. He doesn't notice anything particularly wrong that would raise his concern, but then again a lot of the damage done to her at HYDRA was mental.

Tony adjusts the watch on his wrist. "Technically, I am a doctor since I have three doctorates." He pulls the sleeve of his jacket down and stands straight. "So what can I help you with this fine evening?"

Steve looks to Sparrow. She glances at him from the corner of her eye before clearing her throat and speaking.

"I, uh, think something's wrong with me."

Tony's eyebrows shoot up. "Something's wrong with you?"

She nods, shifting on her feet.

"Could you be more specific?" Tony persists. He tries not to lose his patience, but he was in the middle of working on one of his damaged suits before he was pulled out by Steve. If nothing's actually wrong with Sparrow, then he's wasting valuable time.

Sparrow glances at Steve. He nods reassuringly.

"I've been hearing these voices. And seeing things."

Tony checks the time in his watch.

Sparrow notices and falters. "Actually, it's not that big of a deal. I'm probably just not getting enough sleep—" She starts to turn away, but Steve grabs her arm before she can take a step. She looks up at him.

Steve lets go of her arm and frowns at Tony. "Could you at least pretend to care? Something could be seriously wrong and could potentially be a threat to her, or a threat to the rest of us."

Sparrow swallows at that. She doesn't want to be a threat.

Tony rolls his eyes. "I do care."  When Steve scoffs, Tony says, "Honestly. I do. I just have a lot of other things to take care of, so I'm sorry if I seem a little distracted." He nods at Sparrow. "Continue."

She struggles to reply, but eventually continues talking. "I don't recognize the voices, and I can't understand them; they're in some other language. And the things that I see are odd. One minute I'd be in my room, and the next my surroundings would be, like, in a different building or something. I don't recognize anything."

Tony straightens. His brow pulls forward in interest as he cocks his head. His eyes dart to Steve's, and he asks, "Memories?"

Steve hesitates. "Maybe." Something fills his eyes, but Sparrow can't decipher what it is—fear? Dread?

Her own fear rises as she picks up on the tension in the room. She wants to step out, to let them take care of things, but she stays glued to her spot, waiting for one of the men to do something.

Tony studies Sparrow with his eyes narrowed. She feels squirmy under his gaze and glances at Steve beside her.

Tony finally steps forward. "Do you mind if I run some tests?"
