Dream
Max pov.
They finished eating breakfast and then left for their workstations. Alexander had to prepare his ops and he would be meeting with Yela in his cabin one hour after he reported to the bridge.
The doors of the turbo lift opened and I stepped out onto the bridge. "Report!" He ordered. The shift officer walked up to him. "Good morning sir. Well, we are making good speed and there have been no further incidents apart from us trying to find a place for our... Admiral do we call them prisoners or slaves."
"They are our slaves Lt. and continue please."
"Well at first we tried to force them together at the back of the hangar were they aren't in the way but then we realized that they need to visit the toilets and get fed among other things. The deck officers are trying to find a solution but."
"You need more manpower. Pull off everyone you need for this job. Anything else?"
The Lieutenant shrugged, "All systems running optimally so far. We are still repairing some of the damaged vehicles in the hangar."
Maxwell nodded slowly. "Okay, call me if anything comes up. I have some time consuming new responsibilities to take care off."
"Yes sir. We are all set here. Foster is back on shift in an hour, that will make things a lot easier. She is t right choice by the way."
"Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks so. I'll be off again." With that, he turned around and headed back to the elevator already asking myself how best to teach Yela.
Yela pov.
After changing into something more comfortable, a loose pair of black pants and a shirt I headed up to the cabin. Feeling a lot more excited than I had in a long time I knocked on the door of Max's quarters. A moment later the door opened revealing Max. With a start, he realized that Maxwell wasn't wearing his uniform. He was wearing a skintight black combat shirt and matching pants.
In this outfit, Max looked a lot more worrier like than in his admirals uniform, a lot harder.
"Come in, let us get started."
Maxwell followed him into the living room. Shenna and Jallia were nowhere to be seen. As if Maxwell has heard my thoughts he addressed the question. "I sent them down to the medbay for a check up. That way we can have some privacy. It might get uncomfortable for you if you are being watched. You will be stressed enough as it is. Now sit down." Maxwell pointed at the floor in the middle of the room.
Feeling extremely awkward I sat down on the carpet but the awkwardness passed when he sat down facing me and crossed his legs. "Now, obviously I won't train you to be a Jedi. You are too old for that and there is, of course, the other more obvious reasons. I will train you in the force, neither the light or the dark side. There won't be the rules that the Jedi and I don't want you to be as obsessed with your hatred as the sith."
He nodded that made sense.
"Are there any rules!" Another rare smile danced over his lips.
"That's the perk part in being independent. I suggest that you stay true to yourself but I should say that your training will be a lot closer to that of the Jedi than that of the Sith. There are of course different disciplines in the force. For instance, while your husband chose the path of a healer and excelled in that discipline I walked the path of a warrior, the path of a Jedi Knight, a master of combat."
She thought back to the time she first met the two brothers and realized that this explained a lot, "Wait, you are saying that my husband the commando wanted to become a healer?"
Maxwell nodded, "Yes, as a force wielder it his destiny. That is part of the reason why he mostly turned away from that path and went commando."
He couldn't stop myself from asking the next question even though it sounded naive, even to me. "So who of you is more powerful?"
Maxwell paused for a second. "It depends on how you define power. As a Jedi my brother had great potential as a healer, maybe even become one of the best the order ever had. I've seen him bring back people from the brink of death only using the force. He wasn't appointed to the council for his maturity, that is for sure."
"And you?" She asked. "I trained to be a Jedi Knight and even managed to earn the title of a Battle Master. My training was centered around my combative abilities. In a fight between me and my brother-"
"- you would come out on top," Yela finished. Maxwell nodded and folded his hands in his lap. "Anyway, let's leave the topic of my brother and I and get to you. What do you want?"
Yela shrugged and decided to be honest. "I don't know enough to have a real opinion." Max slowly nodded. "I'll be honest with you. I don't really know what I'm doing here either. I haven't trained anybody except perhaps padawans in the halls of fencing back in the Jedi temple or the occasional field trip were some master managed to convince me to take their pupil with me to gather some experience."
Yela stayed silent not knowing what to say. "But I think it might be good to you to learn a few things about yourself. We can always get the more entertaining parts of your training later. Stay here." The former Jedi got up and walked into his office.
Yela caught herself nervously fingering his Lekku and folded his hands in my lap as I waited for my new teacher to return. When he did return he was holding a small, thin vile. When he sat down he handed me the vile.
"I borrowed this from the temple when I left the order. It's been lying around since the old Republic so I guessed no one would miss it," he explained as I accepted the flask.
It was made from clay and it was painted in dark green and black. "What is it?"
"I don't exactly know but as I understand it this potion is supposed to reveal the strongest memory you have to you during meditation."
She raised an eyebrow. "You do realize that I don't know how to meditate?" Being an intelligence officer she would usually never be caught dead drinking unknown potions but she trusted Maxwell completely.
"I'll help you with that. Believe it or not I do know a few starships unrelated things."
She rolled my shoulders and tried to relax a bit. "Okay, tell me what to do?"
"First, unseal the vile and drink its content."
Yela did as she was told, pulled out the plug and drained the tasteless liquid." Then she dropped the vile and turned to face my brother-in-law.
"Close your eyes and take slow deep breaths," Maxwell ordered him with a soft voice. I did as he told me, closed my eyes, and did my best to slow her breathing. Max stayed silent for a few minutes.
"Very good, you are perfectly relaxed."
Thanks to her training she knew that Max was using the force on her but for some reason, she couldn't resist. So slowly the former Jedi forcibly put her in a state of perfect calm and then she felt my mental world flip as the memory hit me with the force of a supernova.
