Chapter 5

"Boarding call for rows 1-10 on flight 27B" We stood after hearing these words from the lady at the flight information desk. It had been a two hour wait, but we all just talked during the wait. About nothing, about everything, about anything, and it was great.

We walk onto the plane and take our seats. The rows are in groups of two, so mom and dad are in front of us and I was seated next to Luke, leaving Jack and Ben to the right of Luke and me. The flight is nearly 15 hours long. For the first eight hours Luke and I talk. He caught me up with everything that I had missed.

"Yeah, I have four awesome mates. I met them last year, and we're all great friends. We hang out all the time, and we're actually thinking about starting a band. I mean, we kind of already have, but that's just us messing around with instruments and playing covers." He looked down at his fingers in his lap.

"No, no don't say—don't say that. I bet your band is great." I smiled as I wholly believed his band was amazing. I'd never heard them, but they probably were. They might just be messing around, but I was going to hear them the first time I found out they were practicing.

I felt my eyes droop signaling my need for sleep, but I didn't want to sleep. I just wanted to keep talking to Luke, but he noticed. He sat back, looked at me, and whispered, "You have a right to be tired. Just lean on my shoulder it's alright." He pushed the bar in between us up, and put his arm around my shoulder. He smiled and pulled out his phone with his other hand. I leaned against him and felt so comfortable that within five minutes I was asleep.

Someone's shaking my knee. I open my eyes and see Jack trying to wake me up. I sit up, and ask him what's going on. "Everything's fine, we're just landing. Will you wake Luke?" Jack whispers.

"Oh, y-yeah. Sure." I look at Luke's sleeping figure and smile. I love this boy next to me. His smile was what kept me going through even the darkest days, and now I could see it whenever. I put my hand on his shoulder and lightly shake him as I say, "Wake—wake up, Luke." It didn't take much to wake him, and immediately he smiled when he saw me. He hugged me and whispered in my ear, "I was worried I'd dreamt getting you back. I'm so glad we found you. I love you, Lil." I smile and say "I love you too, Luke, and I'm glad—I'm glad you found me too."

"Alright passengers, we're landing so make sure you have your seatbelts on, and we ask you to turn off all electronic devices." After hearing that we put the seat arm back down and put back on our seatbelts. I lean over to rest my head on Luke's shoulder and shut my eyes. I wasn't trying to fall asleep and I didn't. I was just basking in his presence and in my new reality.

Sooner rather than later, we landed. I lifted my head, undid my seatbelt, and waited for the people in front of us to get off the plane. As I'm walking out Ben puts his arm around my shoulders and walks with me into the terminal. Mom and Dad both hug me when we get to the terminal.

Mom steps back and says to us all, "Alright, we didn't check baggage, so we can just go straight to the car. And from the car should we get food or should we go straight home? Lili? You can decide." They all look at me and I don't know which to choose.

"U-uh I uh don't have a preference, either is fine with me." I stutter, and Jack holds my hand for support.

Jack speaks up and says, "Why don't you drop me, Ben, Luke, and Dad off to get the house a bit more ready for her, and you go out and get us all food with her?"

Mom smiles, and nods,"That's a great idea."

We all nod, pleased with the idea and follow mom and dad who are holding hands and smiling, knowing their family was whole again and back home. Jack continues to hold my hand as we follow behind Luke and Ben. Every few minutes Luke turns around to look at me. It's like he's checking to make sure I'm really here and still okay.

After about an hour, the boys had been dropped off along with dad, and mom and I were in the drive-thru for a fast food joint. I was sitting in the front, and mom looks over to me and smiles "Lili, we've spent everyday thinking about you, missing you, and still loving you." She has a few tears run down her cheek, "And it's such a blessing we got you back. We all missed you so much, we did. We really really did. I love you my sweet girl. I can't pretend to imagine what you went through, but I'm so glad, we're all so glad you're out of there." She smiles as more tears, more quickly fall down her face, and I realize the same things happening to me. I'm crying right along with her.

"Oh I-I missed you s-so much, Momma." I hold her hand and look into her eyes. I smile too, these tears are happy tears. I'm finally where I belong. We drove up to the window, she paid, grabbed the food, and we were on the way home. It was only a ten minute drive home, so we got back quickly. It was just a few turns later and we pulled up to the house. She turned off the car and we got out. I was holding the food and walked inside, not knowing what to expect. Mom took the food from me, as I saw the house for the first time in six years.

The first person I saw, was Luke and that's because my eyes were immediately drawn to his jumping figure. "I'm so excited! Can I show her? Please?" He looks to dad pleading with his eyes.

Dad rolls his eyes as he shrugs his shoulders, "Yeah, I guess. Since, you worked the hardest on it." What were they talking about? My room? Oh, I hope they didn't work too hard. Luke jumps for joy as he nearly runs to me and grabs my hand, and runs to a hallway not very far away. It's just through the living room. Everyone else is digging into the food, and Luke is giving me the grand tour.

He motions to the first room one the left, "That is my room, and the one on the other side is Ben and Jack's." Were they sharing a room because of me? I hope not, but I don't see them voluntarily sharing a room. Luke walks a few steps further and points to a room on the left that has its door closed, "And this one is yours." He swings the door open dramatically.

There's wood floors, and a blue carpet in the middle that is right next to a beautiful white bed frame with a blue comforter, and white pillows. The other side of the room had two doors, one to a closet and the other to a bathroom that lead to Luke's room. Across from the bed was a desk, with a laptop on it. They got me a laptop? I am just so thankful to be back they really didn't need to do all this. I would've been completely grateful even if I was just sleeping on the couch.

I turned with an awed expression to see Luke's extremely happy face. I basically threw myself into his arms. I then just kept thanking him over and over. Luke responds by saying, "Hey, it was a group effort, we're all really glad you're back. We missed you dearly." I hugged him a bit tighter then ran out the kitchen area and hugged the rest of them one by one. They were all still separating the food still.

"So you like it?" Dad asks as he's grabbing glasses from the cupboard.

"Yes, I love it. Thank you all so much." I say unable to fully explain how grateful I was.

Mom speaks next as we start walking to the dining room table. "It's our pleasure, sweetheart. We want to make you as comfortable as possible and we really just love you so so much." She stops to keep from crying again. "The only thing left to get you is new clothes. We'll go out tomorrow to get some." She nods as we all sit down at the table.

"I'll go too," Luke pipes up, and smiles at me. He's sitting next to me, and Ben is sitting across from me. Across from Luke is Jack. At that end of the table is Dad while Mom is at my end of the table. This is an amazing life, and I'm so glad to be back. I know I've thought that a thousand times, but that's because it's so true. I love my family so much.
