Chapter 79

"Baby, what's wrong?" Adam asks with a worried look as he walks into the office followed by the doctor.

"Come mere, Sweetheart." Tim says patting his lap.

Adam walks over and sits down in his husband's lap, giving him his full attention.

"There's something I've been keeping from you for the past week or so." Tim says as he meets Adam's blue eyes. "Not that I didn't want to tell, I was just .. afraid."

"Afraid?" Adam asks softly.

"I guess, I was just afraid that you would worry too much." Tim answers. "I .. I really didn't know how to tell you."

"Okay? Tell me now." Adam says.

"I've realized that I have a problem. I don't know how I've allowed it to happen. I've always considered myself strong, mentally." Tim says. "I thought I could handle it on my own. But I can't."

"Honey, you're not making any sense. Please, just tell me what's wrong." Adam says as he brushes back Tim's hair.

"Adam, I've allowed myself to get addicted to these pain pills I've been taking since I was shot. And it's bad." Tim nods as tears fill his eyes.

"Oh, my God." Adam whispers then quickly looks to the doctor. "What do we do?"

"Well, the good part is, Tim realized it on his own that he has a problem. That's the first step." Nate says. "And with the love and support of you and the others, he can beat this. I'm not saying that it will be easy. But Tim is a strong person. He can do this."

"What could be taking them so long?" Avi whines. "They've been in there an hour."

"Honey, it's only been twenty minutes." Kirstie says, patting him on the leg.

"Well, it seems like an hour." Avi pouts.

"It's got me puzzled because Nate is there and then he came and Adam." Chris says.

"So it must be really serious." Eddie says.

"You don't think that Tim has got something bad wrong with him, do you? I mean, he's has been acting depressed and tired. What if ... what if he has cancer or something." Esther says as her eyes fill with tears.

"Don't even talk that way, Esther!" Avi says, shaking his head.

"Yeah, we don't even want to think anything like that. We gotta stay positive." Chance says.

"You think he may be having those nightmares again?" Kirstie asks. "Maybe one of those guys has attached themselves to him."

"But if that was so, he'd need that Medium Amy and not Nate. Right?" Chris asks.

"Then it has to be his health." Austin comments.

"Y'all stop! Timbo is not going to die." Avi says with tears coming to his eyes.

"No, Tim is not dying." Nate says as he walks into the den followed by Tim and Adam.

"Well, y'all mind telling us what the hell is going on." Eddie says. "We deserve the right to know. We're family."

"Yes, you do, Eddie." Tim says softly as he and Adam sit down on the couch. He leans over resting his elbows on his legs, clasping his hands together tightly, staring at the floor. "Don't worry, I'm not dying. I may wish I was dead. But I'm not dying."

Adam rubs him comfortingly on the back, giving him support.

"Timbo, please tell us what's wrong." Avi asks with a worried look.

"First of all, I want to apologize for the way I've acting. The way I've been treating you guys. Pushing you away even though I've really needed you." Tim says, still not lifting his eyes to meet his friends. "Getting angry for no reason. That's not me."

"We all know that, Tim. We're just really worried about you." Chris says.

Adam glances down at Tim's hands. His knuckles had turned white and his hands were beginning to shake slightly.

"Do you need my help?" Adam whispers, kissing his husband's shoulder.

Tim nods as he squeezes his eyes shut.

"Guys, Tim has become addicted to Opioids. The pain pills that he's been taking for his shoulder." Adam says.

"Why didn't I see this." Avi says, slapping his forehead.

"Avi, you were on coke." Eddie says.

"I should have recognized some of the signs though." Avi says.

"Because after the ass chewing I gave you about getting hooked, you thought I would never get hooked on anything." Tim says. "I don't know how I allowed myself, but I did."

"Pain pills are very easy to get addicted to." Nate says. "You can be hooked before you even know it."

"So, what's next? Does he check into a hospital?" Eddie asks.

"I'm not going to no hospital." Tim says, shaking his head.

"Take it from someone who knows, it's not easy." Avi says.

"I know." Tim nods.

"But with our support, he can do it." Kirstie says.

"And I will do it, Kirstin." Tim says with a slight smile.

"How are you feeling right now?" Chance asks.

"My heart is racing. It feels like it's beating out of my chest." Tim answers, wiping his forehead. "I'm sweating. Feels like I'm almost having an anxiety attack."

"I need to check your blood pressure. I'll be right back." Nate says as he leaves the room.

"I'll get you some water." Austin says and heads for the kitchen.

Adam starts to discuss with the group the withdrawals that Nate said would happen.

Tearing up
Muscle aches
Agitation
Trouble falling and staying asleep
Excessive yawning
Anxiety
Nose running
Sweats
Racing heart
Hypertension
Fever

Late Withdrawal Symptoms These peak within 72 hours and usually last a week or so:
 Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhea
Goosebumps
Stomach cramps
Depression
Drug craving.

"So, in other words, it's going to be a long rough ass week." Eddie says.

"Thanks for the warning, Ed." Tim manages to chuckle after drinking the entire bottle of water that Austin had given him.

"God, I hated the throwing up. Coming out of your mouth and nose at the same time." Avi says shaking his head. "And then the diarrhea. Holy moly, you didn't know which end to put over the toilet."

"You're not helping, Sweet Cheeks." Tim says through heavy breaths as he glares at the bearded man. "But then again, this constipation is killing me."

Tim groans as he leans back laying his head on his husband's shoulder.

"Maybe you should lay down. Try to get comfortable." Adam says, wiping the sweat beads from Tim's forehead.

Tim nods and raises up to allow Adam to get up.

No sooner than Adam is out of the way, Avi grabs Tim's boots and pulls them off. He then grabs his ankles and turns him around to a laying down position.

Chance fluffs some pillows and put behind him to make him more comfortable.

Tim couldn't help but chuckle at his friends scurrying around to make him as comfortable as possible.

Nate stands in the doorway holding his black doctor's bag, watching everyone jump into action to make the hit man comfortable.

Water, snacks, a blanket, the t.v. remote.

"Guys, you do know that he's not going to stay down here on the couch, right?" Adam asks.

"But we want to help." Avi whines. "We love him too."
