Litten took a deep breath.

"Well, here goes nothing," he said as he opened the door.

A loud burst of noise hit him right as he walked in. Old friends greeting each other and old cliques getting back together.

All the seats were taken in the front and middle, so he took a seat at the back corner next to another Pokémon he hadn't seen before. An owl-like one.

"Are you new to the school too?" Litten asked.

"Yes, you too?" the owl said. "My name's Rowlet. Pleasure to meet you."

"My name's Litten," Litten said. "Nice to meet you too."

"Do you know anyone here?" Litten asked. "I talked to some guys, but they didn't seem, well all too motivated."

"Well, my girlfriend Snivy goes to this school," Rowlet said. "She's the only one I know."

"Oh," Litten said. "I know no one here. So what do you like to do, Rowlet?"

"I like walks in the countryside, cricket, tea, helicopter rides, skydiving and philanthropy," Rowlet said. "You?"

"I'm a honors student who plays sports and instruments at a high level," Litten said. "I appreciate fine art, history and computer science."

"Sounds very 21st century," Rowlet said. "I prefer the classical, old-style life."

"With helicopter rides?" Litten said.

"Well, I embrace some parts of it," Rowlet said. "Mainly helicopters."

Another Pokémon walked in and sat next to them.

"Hi, I'm Popplio! Who are you? Are you guys new too?" he said quickly.

"Um, I'm Litten," Litten said.

"Rowlet," Rowlet said. "A pleasure to meet you."

"Wow, everyone knows each other here," Popplio said. "I tried to talk with some of these guys, but they told me to go away. I wonder why."

"Anyway," Popplio said. "Have you guys heard of Pippin? It's one of the greatest-"

"Class, settle down," the teacher said. "My name is Mr. Heracross. I will be your teacher for the school year."

As the teacher talked, Litten closed his eyes. I really hope this school year turns out well.
