"Litten, wake up!" his teacher said. "Wake up!"

"Uh?" Litten said. "Oh."

"Recess started already," Mr. Heracross told him. "Why are you sleeping?"

"I finished all my work, and... oh nevermind. Thanks."

Litten walked outside. Should I play basketball with Cyndaquil and his friends? I mean, I've only met four of them before. And I've never played basketball in my life...

He saw Rowlet and Popplio waiting for him outside.

"Were you sleeping?" Rowlet asked.

"Yeah," Litten said.

"You didn't get in trouble?"

"Mr. Heracross knew I did all my work already," Litten explained. "What P.E. classes are you doing?"

"Just P.E. the entire year," Rowlet said. "I'm not very good at sports, except for cricket. And they don't offer that."

"Why don't you try baseball?" Litten said. "It's really similar, plus you get to be on a team. Trust me, it's better."

"OK," Rowlet said. "I will then."

"I'm doing soccer, volleyball and basketball," Popplio said. "Anything with a ball."

"Nice," Litten said. "I'm doing lacrosse, tennis and football."

"Football?" Rowlet said. "Imagine going up against a Rhyhorn. He'll outweigh you by like 200 pounds."

"I know," Litten said. "I've played lacrosse before, which is kind of like hockey on a field rather than ice. The tip is to use your smaller height and speed to your advantage. With enough skill, you can avoid most hits and dodge them."

"What happens on the hits you don't avoid?" Rowlet said.

"They're painful," Litten said. "That's why you learn ways to avoid them."

A soccer ball rolled up to them. Litten moved to throw it back, but Popplio grabbed it, bounced it off his shoulder, bounced it from his shoulder to his back foot where he kicked it back, did four headers, bounced it off his knee and kicked it back.

"Wow, where did you learn that?" Rowlet said.

"I just practice tricks like that at home," Popplio said. "My goal is to either be a Broadway star or a street performer."

"How long did it take you?" Litten asked.

"Only about four hundred hours or so," Popplio said. "I don't really have anything else to do but memorize songs from Broadway shows."

The bell rang.

"Nice, we learn our classes today," Litten said. "I tried out for all AP classes. I think I may have flubbed the French class. Avoir la flemme."

"I tried out for AP World History," Rowlet said. "That's it."

Popplio dabbed. "I asked to be in four art classes instead of math, science and history."

"I'm pretty sure you can't do that, but maybe," Litten said. "Come on, let's go."

The three walked through the doors into Room 105.
