Moving to a new school is tough. Starting over again with no friends, no one to talk to, no one to hang out with is hard. It's a hard and scary thing to do.

But this year, Litten was going to be the newest member of Starter High, a special charter school designated to train starter Pokémon to "unlock their full potential". Or at least, that's what it says on the website.

Litten naturally isn't an extrovert, and doesn't like new experiences. Which is why he's in his room, doing nothing.

"Litten, get ready for school!" his mom called.

Litten really didn't feel like going to school today. He dragged his feet and begrudgingly packed his backpack.

Even though Litten wasn't happy about his school change, he was excited about the new experiences this would bring.

I should be thankful that I have this opportunity, he told himself.

But part of him wanted to go back to his old, dull, undistinguished, unremarkable ordinary town. Back when he wasn't expected to become great. Back when no one cared about Litten.

But ever since he was selected... well, life changed.

Litten packed his bag and headed downstairs.

I hope someone will be my friend, he hoped.

Litten opened the door and out into the light.
