Chapter9.

That Simple.

Ryan sighed deeply as he looked out the window and watched the leaves fall from the tree. It was frustrating to know that he may have just fucked up big time. He had dared to talk to Bryce as himself after promising hisself he would wait and confess after the blonde fell for him but now that was down the drain. If he showed Bryce who he was how would the blonde react?

Guilt gnawed at his feet nevertheless. He was such a fool for speaking to him in person.

Dear ¿

I'll be suprised? Do I know you fro somewhere then? You love me huh? Ask yourself if you really know the real me mister wise guy. I think that if I see you behind this "mask" I'll accept you for who you are.. If you really love me like you say you do then meet me sometime.

His world had fallen at that moment and like a glitch he was stuck underground with no way to free himself. Ryan took a deep breath in hopes of calming his nerves which were shot to pieces. He couldn't tell you how bad this was getting to him now.

Dear McQuaid,

Patience, I have plans to reveal myself song bird. But not anytime soon. I have a plan to meet you at the prom this year for seniors if you can come that is.

Ryan's hands shook as he folded the letter and slid it into his pocket, he stood to his feet. His hazel eyes glanced around the room until landing on his phone that had vibrated loudly. Making his way to the phone Ryan notices a certain pink haired girl walked through his yard causing him to turn and dash out the house. He stopped her.

"Here," Ryan held out the note and she took it. "Make sure that gets to him early okay?"

"I got you dude. Can I borrow some eggs? Mom and I ran out.."

"Yeah, come on." Ryan grinned as he walked back to his house. The grin was forced and she seemed to have taken notice for once the door closed behind her she crossed her arms and tapped her foot on the floor. Ryan raised a brow. "Spill it because you are not fooling me." "Spill what?" "What's on your mind now."

Hesitation filled Ryan's cup and seemed to have fallen from the side as if tipped over. He didn't want to tell her because part of him felt it was stupid and the other felt as if it was something he should be worried about. But he gave in and sighed deeply. "I turned a simple situation into one sticky one."

Columbia seemed suprised at first and once she realized what he was talking about her face softened, "No you didn't Ryan. If Bryce truly likes you he will accept you for you and forgive what you have done." Oh how he had wished her words would calm him. "Yeah but that's the thing..what if he doesn't?" Columbia tapped her chin as she pondered over the situation Ryan had gotten himself into.

Silence overlapped them.

"Then that's that. It wasn't meant to be."

Her answer seemed so simple and the shrug seemed to make him want to cry or at least groan in annoyance. She didn't understand how bad he wanted her did she? "No Columbia you don't understand," he grabbed her shoulders. "I love him." Columbia stared into his eyes before letting out a lifeless giggle which caused him to let her go. "You love him? Ryan, there isn't a such thing. Love is just a word for selfish. Meaning you selfishly want Bryce."

"What?"

"I don't think he will reject you anyways unless you keep toying with his feelings." Columbia stated, grabbing two eggs from the fridge. "That simple man."

"To you! You haven't even confessed in the slightest!"

She shrugged as she held the eggs in between her fingers. Ryan went to his room and grabbed his phone to see he had a message from Jonathan causing him to make a face as what Bryce said came to mind. "God damn it." He growled, sliding his phone open.

Jonathan: Hey you wanna grab something to eat with me sometime?

"What?" Columbia asked, jerking her gaze away from the eggs to him. He showed her the message and she smirked a little. "He like you too?"

"Yup."

Ryan: I was kinda hoping to stay in today.. What time do you have in mind?

Jonathan: Later maybe? I can't go right this second anyways.

Ryan: Let you know later.

Jonathan: Alright.

Ryan put his phone in his pocket and looked up to Columbia who was giving him a certain look. "What?" He played dumb for a moment. "You know what," she began. "You sure do just want Bryce."

"I don't want Jonathan."

"Then let it be known. Friend zone him Ryan and make sure he gets it."

"Tch. Easier said than done."

Columbia shook her head as she made her way to the door, she gave a wave then she left him all alone. Ryan had never thought of that strategy until now and he couldn't help but wonder if it would work. Then again, why wouldn't it?

Ryan: I can do twenty minutes.

Jonathan: Great. Meet you at Mc?

Ryan: Yeah.

Bryce held his guitar close to his chest as he finished the last verse of the song he was singing and let out a sigh. He glanced out the window and watched leaves fall down onto the sidewalk before being blown away by the howling wind. He sat his guitar to the side and stood from his seat.

Bryce closed the open window and walked over to his desk where he left the book of notes him and the mystery man had. A small smile formed on his lips as he eyed that sticky note which had the words that changed his life. Bryce closed the book and shoved it under his bed.

He was falling harder every day.
