Chapter Four; Star

Sup, I'm excited for this chapter, so I'm gonna get write to it. Haha, get it? Write? Haha, yeah okay.

**Valka's POV**

Astrid, our dragons, and I began to follow the trail of Night Fury blood. The amount on the ground worried me. No dragon could loose that much blood unless the injury was pretty serious.

Eventually, the ground turned to rock and a cave appeared up ahead. We were almost to it, when Mulch ran up to us.

"Gobber says he found Hiccup!" he exclaimed. Astrid turned and bolted in the direction Mulch had come from. Dang, that girl could run fast.

Mulch and I followed after, and we soon lost sight of the sprinting teen.

After about a minute, Gobber, Bucket, Snotlout, and Hookfang came into view. Bucket was arguing with Gobber, and Snotlout was lounging up against a tree, feeding Hookfang.

"Snotlout, what happened?" Valka asked.

"Well, Gobber heard Bucket yell 'Hiccup' and so he told Mulch to go find you. Well, it turns out, Bucket never saw Hiccup. He claims he was 'telling a stick to get up'."

"Oh, wow," I said. Our chief was still missing.

"So, did you have any luck with Toothless?" Snotlout asked.

"He wasn't there."

"And, where's Astrid?"

"I thought she came here."

"She has!?" Snotlout looked around stupidly.

"It's gettin' dark," Gobber came up behind me, "We'll continue search in the mornin'."

"What about Astrid?" I asked sadly.

"The lass 'll turn up, it'll take somethin' big to take 'er out," he said confidently. I had to admit he was right, Astrid was pretty tough.

So, my little group and I headed back to the village. When we got there, we discovered that no one had found my son, or seen a black dragon.

"We'll continue searching first thing in the morning!" I announced to the tribe before I turned in.

**Astrid's POV**

They found Hiccup? Before anyone could stop me, I dashed through the trees in the direction Mulch had come from.

I had just past the crash site when I slipped and fell down. The forest above me disappeared and I was surrounded by brown. I kept sliding for about ten seconds, before I came to a stop.

I looked around. I was in some sort of dirt borrow. Perhaps an old fox den. I must have slipped through an entrance while I was running.

It was quiet dark down here. I stood up (yes, the ceiling was high enough) and began to walk around. I shivered. The sun was almost gone when I had slipped, so it was probably twilight by now. No sun meant temperature drop.

As I strained my eyes to see in the fading light, I took another step forward. The next thing I knew, my face was in the dirt. I had tripped.

I turned around to see what I had tripped on. There, on the ground, was Hiccup.

I crouched and began to try and wake him. When he didn't wake, I decided to look at his wounds.

My eyes had finally adjusted to the darkness when I began to feel his head. There was a large knot on the back of his head, and a trickle of warm liquid descending from it.

I began to feel for broken bones. When I found none, I sighed in relief. He was going to be okay.

I shivered again. It was very cold now, and pitch black. There was no way I would be able to find my way out now.

I laid down next to Hiccup. He may have been unconscious, but he was still warm. And, my body heat would help keep him warm also.

I curled up next to him, and closed my eyes.

**Star's POV**

When Toothless had passed out, I had decided now would be the best time to freak out, but also a very good time to stay calm. His life was in my hands.

I carefully rolled my fellow Night Fury over, and began to lick the cut that ran all the way down his under-belly. When he had crashed, he must have scraped the top of a tree. I was really worried. Toothless had lost so much blood. Too much blood.

After I was done, I wanted to go look for dressing, but I didn't want to leave Toothless. I eventually decided to go out. Not putting dressing on the wound was a risk I wouldn't take.

Leaving Toothless belly-up on the cave floor, I headed out into the dark forest. I spotted some moss on the bass of a large tree, and used my talons to claw it off of the trunk. After I had repeated this on a few trees, I picked up the moss and made my way back to the cave.

As soon as I walked into the cave, I knew something was wrong. Toothless was lying on his stomach, wriggling and moaning. I dropped the moss.

"Toothless!" I cried as I rushed towards him. He groaned and looked up at me.

"Hiccup?" he asked.

"No, Toothless! It's me, Star!"

"How come you can talk to me, Hiccup?"

"Toothless, you're just being delusional, it's me, Star!" I cried. I felt the tears as they began to stream down my face.

After a bit of arguing, Toothless seemed to be getting weaker. I finally told him to roll over.

The wound was bleeding again, and he had gotten dirt in it. I licked it clean once again. I then applied the moss.

I looked up at his eyes. He had passed out again.

"You're going to be okay, Toothless," I hoped out loud, before I shot a plasma-blast at the ground, curled up, and fell asleep.

**Hiccup's POV**

The smell was damp and musty. I opened my eyes. It was very dark, I couldn't see anything. It was as if there was a blanket over my eyes.

My first thought was 'Toothless'. Where was he? Was he here? Was he hurt? I had no idea.

"Toothless?" I whispered into the darkness.

There was movement beside me. I reached out and felt what it was.

"Um, Hiccup?" a voice spoke beside me.

"Astrid?!" I cried, "Where are we? What time is it? What happened? Where's Toothless? What are we doing here?"

"Whoa, Hiccup, calm down!" Astrid said, "We're in an old fox den, sometime at night, you crashed, I don't know, and sleeping because its too dark to find our way out."

"What? I know we crashed, but how long ago? Am I okay? How did I get down here? And why is it wet?"

"Gods, you ask a lot of questions!" Astrid exclaimed, "You crashed earlier this evening, I think so, I'm assuming you fell, and it's probably raining."

"Oh, well, why are you down here?"

"Mulch said they had found you, so I went to see, and as I was running, I slipped down here. Obviously, they didn't find you."

"Well, yeah. And, Astrid?"

"Mm?"

"What do you mean, you don't know where Toothless is?"

"Well, when I heard him roar, I came and found him. He was unconscious, not far from here," Astrid explained, "I went to get your mother, and when we came back, he was gone." Astrid said. She sounded as if she was hiding something.

"Oh, were there any clues?" I asked anxiously.

"Hiccup, I'm tired. Do you mind if we resume this conversation in the morning?" Astrid asked.

"Yeah, of course. Good night, Milady," I was really scared about Toothless, but I managed to be cheerful. I kissed my hand and reached out to touch her.

I then laid down. Astrid curled up next to me, and we fell asleep, side by side.

**Toothless' POV**

I lifted my head and looked around. The sky outside was pink and orange, signaling sunrise. I turned to Star. The only other Night Fury, and my beloved secret, was sleeping peacefully next to me.

I quickly checked my cut. There was no blood, and a layer of moss covering the wound. I stood up, and swayed a bit.

Carefully, I walked over to Star. Taking her port wing gently in my mouth, I spread it out on the floor.

When Star had come to Berk, she landed in the cove, but couldn't lift off again. There was a large tear in her wing, so when I had visited the cove the next day, I found her.

I was so thrilled that there was another Night Fury. I had helped her heal her wing, and we had become very good friends.

Her wing wasn't fully healed yet, and from last night, the wound had reopened and a trickle of blood was leading down her wing.

I began to clean the wound. It wasn't as bad as mine, it didn't need dressing.

"Toothless?" a voice whispered.

"Star!" I trotted to her head. Her gorgeous, bright blue eyes stared up at me.

"What are you doing up!?" she demanded.

"I feel better. Look, it's stopped bleeding," I rolled over.

Star stood up, "Yep, a few more licks and it will stop bleeding completely. You will have a scar, though."

"Well, yeah! Proof of a brave dragon!" I flashed her a toothless smile.

"We better get out of here, get back to the cove. Your friends will be coming soon, and you don't want them to see me," Star said, heading towards the entrance of the cave.

"But, aren't we going to find Hiccup?"

"How? It rained last night, his sent will be gone."

"Can't we at least try?"

"Toothless, your friends are out there, looking for you right now, I suggest we get to the cove. You will find Hiccup, I promise," Star turned towards me and touched her nose to mine, "Now, lets go."

Star and I stepped out into the forest, and began to make our way back to the cove.
