Chapter 10
About six months later...
Mary and I are living in Seaside City with Mr. and Mrs. Tiger. We're now Vicky Tiger and Mary Tiger. We're sisters! We're also getting ready to go to the beach. Since it's winter, we aren't in bathing suits, but in warm clothes. At school, we tell tales of our survival. Everyone is so interested! I even wrote about it in my story.
Life is amazing. Every thing Mary and I went through, it paid off. We even found out Blackie was a girl. She's very happy. Since she loves apples, we found an apple cat food. Her life couldn't be better. Our lives are great too. The war is finally over. Gun shots are never heard, and bombs never go off. The world seems perfect.
Well, Mary and I were on the beach. The sun was setting. Mary hugged me. "I love you," she said.
"I love you too," I said. Our parents set up a sheet on the sand. Mary and I sat down. Our parents set up a picnic. Suddenly, Mary jumps up. She grabs the crab net.
"I'm going to catch that crab," she told us. We usually caught the crab and let it go. Mary chased after the crab as it scurried along the beach. I got up and followed her. The crab finally got away, which made Mary hunt for a new one. She finally found a new one, but it was big one, so she didn't want to mess with it. We walked back to our parent together.
"Vicky, you have a letter," said my mom. She passes me a letter. I opened it. It said:
Dear Vicky,
This is from Mimi. I know you know who I am. I found out you escapade Eel Town. I'm coming to visit. Mr. and Mrs. Tiger know I'm coming. I've heard all about your adventure and new sister. By the way, reporters from far away are coming to talk to some people, about the war. I told them about you and they want to interview you. Be ready! I want you to know I'll be with you on your birthday.
Love,
Mimi
I jumped for joy. My grandparents were coming! Mary was eating a cupcake when I looked up. She already had it on her nose. I laughed. "What?" she asked.
"You have some cupcake on your nose," I told her. She tried to lick it off, but her tongue wouldn't reach. I laughed when she tried to pull her tongue up to her nose. She finally just used a napkin. When she was done, we decided to build a sandcastle. Mary and I made it like the one near the lake. I remember that lake like I saw it yesterday. I remember all of it. Every detail. I guess I remember it since it was exciting and scary. I looked up at the stars. "Mary, look. If you look up at the stars now and look down you see a better place," I said.
"It was true!" Mary exclaimed. We hugged and watched the stars in the night sky.
The End
