Chapter 5 - I'm Sky, but not

I rushed at the chests and picked one at random. "An iron sword and some potatoes?" I groaned.

"Dude, no way! You got an iron sword already?" asked Ryan incredulously. An iron sword was good? I was used to diamonds in my survival series, but I guessed that iron wasn't too bad. I grinned and sprinted away, smacking someone with my new iron sword. However, they didn't take any damage.

"Grace period's nearly over!" Ryan said, as if reading my mind. I decided to go and look for some more chests before people started dying. There were some quite good pieces of armour in them, even a few bits of diamond.

"Got any armour for me?" Ryan pleaded, "I didn't get anything except for food!"

"Yeah," I said, "Where are you?"

"Meet me at mid," Ryan said. Where was mid? Maybe that meant the spawn. I traced my steps and soon I was hopping around near the chests at spawn, waiting for Ryan to appear. However, before I could find him, another guy found me first.

"I'm getting hit!" I shouted, swinging my sword wildly at the attacker. I gritted my teeth as my hearts slowly went down, but then my opponent burst into a shower of items. Somehow I had defeated him. I ate a cooked porkchop to heal and prayed that nobody would attack me while I was weak.

Suddenly a figure burst from the trees, making me jump. However, he didn't attack me. I realised it was Ryan, and I relaxed. "Gimme all dat armour!" he laughed, as I started throwing items at him. "Have you got a spare sword?"

"I've got a stone one," I said, passing him a sword. "Anything else you want, greedy?"

"Got any arrows?" Ryan asked hopefully. I checked my inventory and gave him half of mine. "Thanks. I should really stop stealing your loot now."

"Good," I replied with a smile. "Now what?"

"We go hunting!" Ryan said, and bounded off. I followed him after a hesitant moment. Even though I was pretty well geared, I was still worried about being ambushed by a team, or sniped from afar. Still, I trailed behind Ryan, anxiously looking around for anyone.

"Got one!" Ryan yelled, and I quickly searched for our victim. Ryan had his bow out and was trying to snipe him. I was so useless with a bow that I had only ever landed a hit once or twice. I judged his armour and decided that I had the upper hand.

"I'm gonna go for it!" I shouted, and ignored Ryan's protests. The other guy was escaping, but then he stopped to eat some food. That moment was enough for me to get him. He fought back in vain, and it didn't take long for him to die.

"Yes!" Ryan squealed, scooping up some of the items. I sorted through and found some pieces of diamond. When I put it all on, all I was missing were the legs. Ryan found an iron sword, and ended up with full iron armour with a diamond helmet.

"Let me slash list real quick," Ryan said. "All right, three other people left. Lightning will start soon."

I hadn't the faintest idea what he was talking about, but I didn't question it. "Where next?" I asked.

"There might be some people at mid," Ryan said. I followed him again, this time back to where we started. He was right - two people were fighting on the chests, one in full diamond. We watched from the safety of the trees, crouched. The person in full diamond was the clear victor. I noticed he only had a stone sword, and was distracted with finding the iron sword in the stack of items on the ground.

We didn't have to exchange any words to know when to strike. At the exact same time, we rushed out of the trees and attacked the diamond dude. He didn't have a chance. Fortunately he had two pairs of diamond leggings, and soon we were both in full diamond.

"One more to go!" Ryan said excitedly. "Look for lightning!"

What was that supposed to mean, anyway? What did lightning do? However, I did as he asked, and looked in the opposite way as Ryan. A few seconds later, I heard the rumble of thunder and saw a flash of lightning.

"Didn't see anything, what about you?" asked Ryan.

"Yup," I said.

"Where?"

"Follow me."

For once, I wasn't following Ryan, and he was the one sprinting behind me. I saw the obvious gleam of diamond and stopped abruptly. The last survivor wasn't actually that well equipped. He only had a diamond chestplate, and the rest was a mixture of iron and chain.

"Easy kill!" Ryan said, running forward. I did the same, and it was soon just the two of us, facing each other. "Fist fight?" asked Ryan.

"Not epic enough," I mused, studying the map around us. There weren't really any good places to battle. "How about a good old dual?"

"With or without armour?" asked Ryan, "And what about bows?"

"With armour," I said, and, remembering my own lack of skill, decided to say, "And no bows."

"It's on, bro!" Ryan said, "Let's go!"

Although I had uncovered skill that I barely even knew existed during this game, Ryan was still the better player. I tried my hardest to land as many hits on him as possible, but in the end, I returned to the lobby as the loser.

We talked for a bit before Ryan closed off the video. "Anyway, check out Sky's channel in the description and make sure to subscribe to him!"

"Bye!" I said.

"Peace!"

I saved the recording and laughed. "Well done. That was a good game."

"Thanks," Ryan said, "I need to go now. Danielle's coming over and I need to get everything ready."

"No problem," I said, "Bye."

Ryan hung up the Skype call and I stared at the screen. I disconnected from the server and wondered what to do next. I suddenly remembered that I wasn't actually Sky. I had been impersonating him for so long that I had forgotten who I actually was. I remembered my account and decided to post a video on that channel about... whatever this situation could be called.

Opening up Google Chrome, I went to YouTube and saw that I was still logged in as Sky. After a hesitant moment, I clicked 'Switch Account'. I clicked 'Add Account', filled in the details and waited for it to log in.

The username or password you entered is incorrect. What!? I checked the username - yep, FlyFreeGaming. But the longer I thought about the password, the less I could think of what it could be. After a minute or two, I still couldn't think of the password. I went back and looked at the familiar SkyDoesMinecraft logo. If I didn't upload a video for him, what would happen?

I gulped. I had made my decision. I was going to upload one of my videos that I had created to Sky's account. It would be less suspicious than uploading nothing. Now I just had to do the tenuous job of editing.

~o~O~o~

I sat back in my chair, exhausted. I had never worked with Sony Vegas before. Sky's videos were so different to my own. My own videos were pretty much 'edit in the intro, done'. Sky's videos were 'edit in the intro, fade out for the outro, edit in the background music, jumpcut where necessary.' As a result, it had taken forever.

Fortunately, I had managed to find a video clip that Sky hadn't uploaded yet, when it was actually Sky speaking and not me. I had decided to upload that instead of uploading one of my videos, so I was still safe... for now.

I clicked 'Upload' and watched as the bar slowly crawled across the screen. I realised that if I couldn't log in to FlyFreeGaming, I would at least send a message to whoever could. I had a sneaking suspicion that Sky and I had switched bodies, and he was now the one in control of my account.

I went to my inbox in another tab and ignored the hundreds of PMs. I instantly pressed 'Compose' and addressed a message to FlyFreeGaming:

Hey Fly/Darren/Adam/whoever,

So at the moment, I'm trapped in Sky's body. I used to be you, but now I'm not you. I'm me. I mean, I'm Sky. But inside, I'm Darren. Outside, I'm Sky. You're Darren on the outside, but Sky on the inside. If I'm right. If you're not Sky, don't worry.

I stopped typing and stared at what I had written. I didn't understand a word of it, and I was the one who had written it. The recipient would be even more confused than I was. I decided to delete the whole message and try again.

Hi.

I'm Fly, and if I'm right, you're Sky. If I'm wrong, ignore this message. But if I'm right, send a message to

Here I paused. If I hadn't been able to access my YouTube account, I might not be able to access my email address either. I decided that the best thing to do would be simply to create a brand new email address.

Opening up a new tab, I went to Gmail and quickly created a new account. It only took a minute for me to set it up. I put it into the message, and continued on.

I don't know how we got into this situation, or how we'll get out of it, but let's get in contact and maybe we can sort something out.

~Fly

With that, I sent the message. I checked on the upload progress. Although much faster than the internet I had at home, it still had a long way to go until it would hit the internet. I decided to talk to Kermit to pass some time.

"What're you doing?" I asked, walking over to Kermit's desk.

"Playing Trouble in Mineville," Kermit said without looking up.

I had played that minigame a few times before, and it was actually really fun. I decided to hop on the server myself and play a couple of rounds. The Hive was already on the multiplayer list, so I joined the server in a couple of seconds.

When I joined, I was startled to see so many people. I didn't have a premium membership, but since Sky had the YouTuber rank, I could see everyone.

I right clicked the compass and joined the Trouble in Mineville server. I hurriedly clicked on one of the 'voting' signs, and was surprised to see that I had joined the server in time. Then I remembered that as a YouTuber, I could join full servers. I looked at the chat and ignored all the fans screaming 'OMG SKY CAN I HAZ SCREENSHOT PLSSS'. I had almost finished the lobby parkour when the game started.

I grinned when I saw that I was a traitor. Fortunately I managed to find a stone sword, and soon, I killed off the hordes of fans following me. I had forgotten how good I was at this game, and as a result, it didn't take long for the traitors to win.

My stomach rumbled. This was a problem. At home, I was used to my mum cooking everything for me. I didn't know where the kitchen was anyway. I looked over at Kermit. "Wanna go for lunch?" I asked.

"Sure," he said, getting up from his seat. "Do you wanna go out, or eat here?"

"I'm useless at cooking," I laughed, then froze. I knew that I was bad at cooking, but what about Sky? Kermit gave me a look.

"Oh come on, you're not that bad," Kermit said, then his expression changed into something unreadable. I bit my lip anxiously. "Then again, there was that time you turned Dawn's birthday cake into a pile of ash..."

"Haha, I remember that," I laughed uncertainly, shamelessly lying. "Let's go out."

"Sure," Kermit said, "Just watch out for the fans."

I smiled. Being recognised in the street sounded fun. "I will."

We walked downstairs and Kermit opened the door. Sunlight streamed down on my face. It was a beautiful day. "To be frank, I can't be bothered to drive today," Kermit shrugged, "What about you?"

"Not really," I said. Although I looked calm, I was having another panic attack inside. I was a teenager! I didn't know how to drive! If I was ever asked to drive, what could I do? I'd probably crash the car within two minutes!

"Okay. I'm thinking McDonald's," Kermit said. I nodded, too nervous to disagree. We were about to get going when a random girl ran up to me.

"Oh my gosh! Is it really you?" she asked excitedly. I didn't know what to say. Technically, it wasn't really 'me', because I was just a fourteen-year-old boy. I looked at Kermit for help, but he just shook his head, smiling. What could I say? What if she asked for an autograph or something? I couldn't just ignore her... could I?

Without thinking, I looked at her wide eyes and smiled. "Yes."

What had I gotten myself into?
