Chapter 2 - Adam

"Hey guys, Sky here and today we are playing some Survival Games with the Mudkip, the Ryan and the Fluffy!" I said cheerfully.

"Let's do this!" shouted Quentin, jumping up and down on his starting podium.

"The countdown's started, guys! Get ready!" said Ryan. I saw the countdown in the chat and readied myself.

"All right! Three... two... let's go!" whooped Jerome, sprinting towards the chests. I opened a chest, but somebody else was already taking things from it, and I only managed to get one baked potato.

"Wow, seriously? All I got was a freaking baked potato?" I said, disgruntled. However, the others seemed to be having better luck.

"Yes! An iron sword!" Ryan said gleefully, "And diamond boots!"

"Hey Sky, I got a chestplate for you," said Quentin, "I'm in the lava parkour tower thing."

"Great, I'm on my way," I said gratefully, sprinting towards the tall tower.

"Oh, you ain't got nothing on me," Jerome whistled. "Guess what I got from spawn? That's right, raw fish. I'm gonna win with this fish. Don't mess with the bacca."

"I should just quit right now," I grinned.

"GG!" laughed Quentin.

Time passed. Grace period ended, and I managed to salvage some gear from Quentin, even getting a few kills. However, we were killed by an overpowered team of three only a couple of minutes in, so we resorted to watching Ryan and Jerome dominate the rest of the tributes. A quarter of an hour later, it all came down to a duel between the two of them.

"How are we gonna settle this?" asked Ryan.

"Well... remember that raw fish I got at the beginning?" Jerome said.

"Yeah, what about it?"

"I saved it just for you," Jerome said, dropping the fish on the ground. Ryan picked it up. After a moment, he ate it.

"Thank you, Jerome," whispered Ryan, pretending to choke up, "That... that was the best fish I've ever tasted. I always knew that you were the one for me."

I burst out laughing. Moments like these were the reason I loved my job. Everyone else was laughing as well by now.

"But, in all seriousness," Ryan said, stifling his laughter, "how are we going to settle this."

"How about... an epic battle at the top of the parkour tower?" suggested Jerome. "We can use our ender pearls to get up there."

"No armour?"

"No nothing. Just the pure strength in our fists."

"Sounds great. What are we waiting for?"

The two of them teleported up to the top of the tower and took all their armour off. However, Jerome was still holding a fish in his hand. When Ryan questioned it, he simply said, "I told you I was going to win this game with this raw fish. And I'm gonna keep that promise."

"Fine, broski. I bet your raw fish can't beat my fists!" yelled Ryan, and the fight started. It was a close game, but finally, Jerome punched Ryan off the tower and we returned to the spawn.

"I did it! I won the Hunger Games!" whooped Jerome excitedly, punching the air. "Yeah!"

I ignored the masses of fans crowding around me and grinned. "Anyway, that was the Survival Games on Ryan's server, GLGcraft! Check out the IP in the description below, and check out everyone's channels in the description below as well! But anyway, go and subscribe to all these beautiful people, and this has been Sky, Ryan, Husky and Fluffy! So, uh... I'm Sky, and I'll see you later recruits!"

We stopped the recording there, and I leaned back in my chair, exhausted.

"That was a good game," said Jerome.

"Well, you were the one that won it," pointed out Ryan, laughing.

"Do you guys want to record another? I'm up for recording more right now," said Quentin.

Ryan and Jerome both said yes immediately, but I was ready to call it a day. "I don't know about you guys, but damn, I need some sleep. I'm going to get an early night. Is that okay?"

"Of course, buddy," said Jerome, "A guy needs his sleep. Maybe we can record tomorrow,"

"Sure, thanks. Bye," I said, and hung up the Skype call. I wanted to upload the video as soon as possible, but I had already uploaded one today. It would be best if I saved the video to upload tomorrow. I shut down the computer and climbed into bed.

"Hey Adam, wanna play on some servers?" called a voice. Dakota peeped around the door.

"Go away, frog," I grunted, "I'm trying to sleep."

"Hey, this is my room too!" protested Dakota. "And why are you going to bed so early anyway? Summer vacation, remember?"

I checked the alarm clock next to my bed. "It's not that early," I said, seeing the neon numbers read 23:56. "Goodnight."

"Fine," said Dakota, and sat down at his desk. Apart from the occasional clicking, he didn't make a sound. I turned over and looked out of the window. My subscribers would probably be expecting something big when I reached five million subscribers, which actually wasn't that far off. I wondered what to do for it. A giveaway? A livestream?

I sighed. One of the worst things about having a lot of subscribers was the fact that there was always someone expecting things from you. If I didn't upload a video one day, people would be panicking, asking me where I had gone. Anything that happened in my life happened to my fans as well.

Was this what celebrities felt like? Day in, day out, always with a camera trained on them, watching their every move? If that was what fame felt like, I didn't want to be famous. Sometimes I wished that I could upload videos whenever I wanted, and that nobody would worry if I disappeared without any notice. I wished that I had fewer subscribers.

I saw a shooting star whizz past and sank back into bed. I was too tired to be thinking about my YouTube career early in the morning. It must be midnight by now. Closing my eyes, I emptied my mind of all thoughts, forgot about everything, and focused on falling asleep.
