   IN ALL HONESTY kennedy's birthday was exactly how she had wanted it to go. she was with her sister and friends, the people who she cared the most about in her life at the moment, and they were all celebrating her.

every post, every comment, practically everything that could be said or shared about her album was positive, and an overwhelming amount of love and support filled her heart.

the group were all sitting on the couch, playing a game of uno, which surprisingly, matt had won every round.

"uno." he said confidently, flipping over one of his cards onto the coffee table, leaving him with one singular card left.

"no fucking way." gabi shouted, around 7 cards still in her hand.

matt just shrugged at her giving her a soft giggle.

"if matt wins this, i'm just." nick stated, without finishing his statement, while telling everyone exactly what he meant at the same time.

everyone placed their next cards, and unluckily enough, chris placed a blue four. matt grinned to himself, catching kennedy's attention beside him.

"don't do it." she scoffed, in disabelief at the fact he was just about to win yet again another round.

matt looked at her guiltily, before placing down another blue 4, and cross his arms in victory before leaning back into the couch.

"matt you've began to infuriate me at a whole different level." nick claims.

"what can i say?" he shrugs jokingingly, receiving a soft push to his arm from kennedy.

dylan's phone lights up with a message, grabbing her attention quickly. her eyes scan over it, before looking up at the group, "i gotta go for a quick ride," she smiles, "anyone wanna come with?"

"i'm coming." nick smiles.

"me too." chris adds.

"it's ready? let me grab my shoes." gabi cheers.

"wait what? what's ready? where are you going?" kennedy interrupts, curious as to why her bestfriend was leaving, she turns to look at matt to see if he's somewhat aware of what's going on, but he seems to be just as confused as she is.

"i gotta go grab something." dylan's smile turning from lighthearted to more mischievous.

"okay.." kennedy drags out her voice, before turning back to matt, "are you going too?"

"well if i went you'd be by yourself."

kennedy feels her cheeks grow warm, "okay, yay." she smiles softly.

gabi's eyes widen at the sight in front of her, "ookayyyy!" she attempts to ignore the situation in front of her, by expressing her uncomfort, "can we go now?"

dylan nods, swiftly grabbing her keys off of the hook by their front door, "let's go!" she exclaims.

kennedy watches the four of them from the window of her living room as they enter dylan's car, but as she does this, she feels the cushion beside her become empty, she turns, and sees that matt has now gotten up, and is making his way over toward the kitchen.

before he enters the kitchen fully, he turns around back to face the direct of kennedy, "hey, you want something to drink?" he asks her with his hair slightly covering his eyes, reaching up a hand to adjust the jaw string of the navy blue hoodie he's wearing.

"rootbeer please." kennedy smiles at him.

matt just gives her a thumbs up, before reaching up to push back his hair, then entering the kitchen fully.

not long after, he re-enters the living room, with two cans of rootbeer, one for him, and one for kennedy. she happily takes the canned soda from his hand, causing their fingers to brush against one another ever so slightly. kennedy watches as he sits back down beside her, cracking open the soda tab, and taking a sip.

as he sits down, he immediatly feels her legs brush against his. he turns to look at where she was sitting, realizing he had sat down much closer to her than he had intended too.

kennedy immediatley realizes it as well, but instead, she chooses to let it happen.

kennedy picks up her phone from the table in front of him and begins to mindlessly scroll. from the corner of her eye, she sees matt do the same. their legs still touching one another.

she pulls one of her knees up to her chest and puts her phone back on top of the table, realizing the comfortable silence that had just formed between the two.

not wanting to interrupt him, she doesn't say anything, she just softly lays her head on his shoulder, watching as he scrolls through his phone.

to this, matt doesn't say anything, he just adjusts himself in the spot his was in, to allow her to become more comfortable. without even giving it a second thought, he slowly leans his head against hers aswell.

after a few moments, kennedy breaks the silence between the two.

"hey matt?"

"mhm?" he hums politely, turning his face a little bit in order to see her.

"wanna go for a drive?"
