CHAPTER 15: GO AWAY
Jannah stood in front of the mirror as she does her makeup. She picked up a matte oxblood lipstick and applied it over her lips as a finishing touch. She looked at herself in the mirror. The raven blouse she had on is tucked in matching high waist denim. She tied on a black turban on her head and to finish the look an oxblood with light touches of black blazer and a matching handbag.
She needed to look her very best today because today is the beginning for her.
Today's look represents how she's getting back to business after what happened with Mr. S to everyone at work.
Today's look represents how her mental breakdown two days ago won't take a toll on her to her family.
For some reason she likes to hide behind fashionable clothes and heavy makeup, she uses that to make people think she's ok when deep down she really isn't. But that's not what matters most right now.
She picked up her car key and slipped her phone into her bag before heading downstairs. No one has woken up yet, and if they have, they didn't come out yet so she left the house without any questions.
She arrived at work pretty early wanting to finish her pending work first as she had missed enough work days and is lagging behind due to the drawback. No one was at work yet so that allowed her to work in peace without any commotion to distract her.
By the time she's halfway done, people have started coming so she decided to get something to eat first before coming back. She ignored the looks she kept getting and with her head held up high she walked out and headed downstairs.
"Jannah!"
She turned to see Miss Angelo standing with another woman beside her whom is dressed similar to that of Jannah's but different color and instead of a blzer, the girl had on a knee length coat.
Jannah turned her attention to Anna before she gets called out for staring at a guets for too long, "Yes Miss Angelo"
Anna and the lady walked towards her. Anna smiled for the first time since Jannah met her and it was a genuine one. She reached out her hand to hold one of Jannah's, "hey, how are you feeling?"
"Better than ever"
"Look I'm sorry about-"
"Can we not talk about it please?" Jannah cut her off, "It's all in the past let's not bring it up" she stated curtly and by the look in her eyes Anna knew she meant business so she nodded.
"If that's what you want" For someone that had always been bossy and strict Anna sure is being nice to Jannah whom didn't know whether to take this as a good sign or as a bad one. "Are you heading out?"
"Yeah to get some breakfast" Jannah nodded.
"Good. This right here" Anna pointed at the girl standing next to her, "Is a friend of mine and we were about to get breakfast together but I just got a call and I need to be somewhere right now so can you please take her with you?"
Jannah wanted to decline it but the look on Anna's face stated that she really need someone to take care of this guest of hers so she just nodded with a fake smile etched on her face, "Sure. I'd love to" If any of the two ladies noted the sarcasm in her tone, they ignored it.
"Gracias" Anna smiled at the lady, "I'll leave you with Jannah. I'll see you later then we can catch up"
The lady nodded, "Sure"
They watched as Anna ran off to run her errands that seemed really important because she didn't even leave the building before she started making phone calls.
Jannah turned to look at the lady, "Let's go" she said to the lady whom nodded before they made their way to the cafeteria.
The two both got their food and then settled at a table. Jannah still didn't utter a word more to the girl because she wasn't exactly in the mood to interact with someone but it seemed like the girl didn't get the hint because she tried to start a conversation with Jannah.
"So what did he do?"
"Huh?" What she said caught Jannah off guard. She looked at the lady with a raised eye brow.
"Your boyfriend..." the lady stated as if it's the obvious thing in the world, "What did he do to make you this down?" she asked putting a piece of her waffle in her mouth.
"There's no guy" Jannah tried to dismiss the topic by pretending she didn't know what the lady's talking about.
"Come on! It's obvious a guy broke your heart"
Jannah looked up and narrowed her eyes at the lady, "He never broke my heart because it wasn't his to begin with in the first place" she said, it coming out in a harsh tone to which she inhaled deeply to calm herself afterwards.
"Sure" the lady said sarcastically clearly not fazed by Jannah's acts, "Keep denying it but just so you know you can't hide it forever"
Jannah ignored her and continue eating her food.
"You know..." the lady started after a while making Jannah drop her fork in exasperation. Can't the lady just mind her own business? She wondered. "You don't have to keep pretending as if it means something, if he sees you right now he'll know you're broken inside especially if he knows you. The best thing to do is smile and act as if you've learnt your lesson and are never going through it again"
Jannah looked at the girl with that passive look on her face though inside her wheels are turning wondering in what the girl said is true. She decided to ignore her and not say anything.
After having their breakfast, they headed back inside where they were about to enter the elevator when the girl saw someone she knew and decided to call him.
"Suhad!" Said the girl.
Jannah stopped what she was doing. She turned her head slightly not completely though but enough to see the girl walk ahead and hug him and the guy did nothing to stop her. Jannah scoffed lightly as her hold on her phone tightened. She exhaled a little bit too loudly and started walking ahead when the girl called out, "Jannah!"
Jannah bit her lower lip as she closed her eyes and let out a few strings of curses before putting on her poker face and turned around. The shocked look on his face was priceless and she knew her face would've been the same too had it been she hasn't seen him earlier. Instead, her face remained stoic as she looked into his eyes which held hers.
"Jannah meet my fiancé Alamin" the girl introduced making a wide smile appear on Jannah's face.
Suhad's gaze shot to look at the girl standing beside him, "Bilkisu..."
"Fiancé huh?" Jannah said with the fake wide smile on her face but one can barely tell it's a fake one. To someone watching from a far it's just a girl congratulating two engaged couples sincerely though it's nothing close to that, "You didn't tell me you have a fiancée" she said moving her gaze to Bilkisu though both she and Suhad knew her question is directed to him and not the girl.
"It's not..." Suhad began to say but Jannah cut him off.
"Congratulations! I really wish you the very best" she grinned, "Now if you'll excuse me I have work to do" she didn't wait for anything as she turned and walked to the elevator hastily not wanting to break down in front of him. Once she was in the elevator she let her body stagger as she inhaled and exhaled multiple times, "You aren't going to cry. You got no more tears to shed" she muttered to herself over and over until she has finally calmed down.
Meanwhile back in the lobby, Bilkisu turned to look at Suhad with a smile on her face, "I guess all she needed to hear was some good news, now she's in a good mood. It was sad that she had been down since because her boyfriend broke her heart"
Suhad looked down at her as if she's crazy before he turned and started walking away, "Wait Suhad" she called after him.
"Stay the hell away from me!" he yelled before he walked out.
She stood in the lobby alone not understanding why he just left like that. At the moment, she didn't think of anything that can relate Jannah to Suhad so she didn't even think of it.

After work, Jannah headed to the parking lot alone as Fatimah had a few things he needed to help Anna with. At first Jannah found it weird and uncomfortable to talk to Fatimah after everything that happened but eventually she warmed back up to the girl after Fatimah convinced her that she has nothing to do with what her brother doing currently. She even swore to it.
Just as she was about to unlock her car someone called her name making her jump in surprise. She turned and glared at him, "What do you want?" she asked glaring at him.
"What I want is to talk" he said as if he's saying the most sensible thing in the world.
She rolled her eyes, "I don't have your time Alamin" she was about to turn when he spoke up again.
"Come on please! It's not what you think"
She ignored him and opened the door to her car.
"It's not what it looked like!"
This made her stop. She scoffed and then loudly shut the car door, "It's not what it looked like?" she raised a brown.
He blinked exhaling slightly, "Jannah just please listen to me..."
"No you listen to me Suhad! How dare you tell me it's not what it looked like when I saw it with my own eyes?! I saw everything that happened and you dare come here and told me it wasn't what it looked like?!"
"It's really not..."
"Oh so it doesn't mean anything when you hugged her? When you pecked her?! When you brought her over to your house for lunch and when you defended her?!" she yelled losing the calm she had been tiring so hard to keep.
He looked shocked at first, then confused, then slight anger as he closed his eyes and shook his head, "Fatimah..." he muttered.
"No don't you dare try to blame your sister for the things you did!"
"Jannah..."
"Don't you dare call my name again!"
"Can we just talk somewhere else, somewhere more private?"
She laughed in disbelief, "Why? So you can brainwash me into believing you? Listen to me Alamin Suhad Sagir, I am never going through what I went through five years ago, never! Do you hear me? Never!! If you think I'm still the same naïve girl from back then you're wrong, you're dead wrong because I'm not! I'm so much better than then" she glared at him and didn't waste another second before she got into her car and drove away in a speed that he feared for her life.
Feeling dejected and broken, he got into his car and started it before driving out of the parking lot. All through the drive all he could think of was how hurt she sounded. He really did hurt her so much and he knew that, but that wasn't his intentions-it never was.
Also, what is it about that five years ago that she keeps mentioning. What could he have possibly done to her five years ago because as much as he's concerned he never did anything to hurt her intentionally. Sure, some of his actions have hurt her like as of today but he will never do it with the essence of hurting her.
He was thinking about that all through that he didn't hear when the person in front of him honked his car, he didn't notice the loud honks, and he didn't notice that he's actually driving at full speed into another car until it was too late and everything became blank to him.
The last thing he heard was the sound of sirens as his vision became blurry. He could smells something burning but he couldn't tell what it was.
And just like his vision, his head became hazy too and before he knew it he had succumb to the darkness.

Okay I'm sort of half asleep while writing this so pardon me for the mistakes or if it didn't make any sense. Like I said, I'm half asleep because this is the third chapter I'm writing today and the second under three hours so it's 1am right now.
Anyways, it's a triple update.
Hope you like it.
Love, Jannah.
