Okay, so backstories are pretty difficult and they often get repetitive. Also, if you give a character a difficult backstory, make their character traits represent that.

If a character was abused as a child, make them not trusting of adult figures, make them take no shit. If a character had a happy childhood, make them an optimist who is always looking for a plan, get it? You can't give a character a backstory that doesnt fit their traits at all.

This is a bit short, but there's really not much to say about backstories since it all depends on the author and what they are able to write!
