Crystal's Ending
The judge was handed a slip of paper to tell the verdict.
"The jury is allowing Crystal and Rupert full custody of Starling for her parents abuse." That answer rang through the androids' ears. They were surprised, but grateful. Starling's parents were arrested and taken away. Finally, Starling got justice.
Crystal turned towards her.
🔴Hug Starling
🔵Don't Hug Starling
Crystal hugged Starling who was smiling a beaming smile. They could now be a family.
O N E Y E A R L A T E R ...
It had been a year since Crystal and Rupert were granted custody of Starling. They were happy and were now finally content with their lives.
Today was the day. Lexi and Ashley were getting married in a small intimate garden wedding. Everyone was there. Even Kara, Alice and Luther made it to the wedding. But most importantly, Lexi's homophobic parents were there as well, which made Crystal a little nervous, but all the nerves seemed to wash away when the music started and Ashley walked down the cream white carpet.
Ashley's dress was beautiful with white roses and a lace train. Then the ceremony began. Crystal turned around in her chair to see Lexi and Ashley exchange their vows. Lexi, being the tomboy that she is, decided to wear a classic black suit to her wedding.
"Speak now or forever hold your peace." The priest began and there was, surprisingly, no objections from anyone, not even Lexi's parents.
"Wonderful, no family drama." The priest joked making everyone laugh, and then sometime later, Lexi and Ashley exchanged their vows.
"Ashely, you are the most important thing that's ever happened to me. You were a servant to my family, but you were more than a servant to me. You are my confidant, my muse and my lover. You and I both had a desire to be free. And we've achieved it. I mean, we are getting married for God sakes!" Everyone laughed at that, except for the priest, who was less amused about Lexi using the Lord's name in vain.
"Lexi," Ashley began her vows, "you are artistic, creative, passionate, wild and a little insane, but somehow, I fell for you. I don't know if it was poor judgement or I was blinded by your artistic talent, but I don't regret it for a second. 8 years ago, in 2038, I was on the run in hiding, safe in that big glass house of yours. Now, in 2045, I'm getting married to you. And I couldn't be happier. What I'm trying to say is... Lexi I love you. I could tell you that a thousand times and it still wouldn't be enough. I love you Lexi, with all my heart."
Then, the rings were exchanged and their I do's.
"Do you, Lexi Spencer, take Ashely, to be your lawful wedded wife in sickness and in health for as long as you shall live?"
"I do."
"And do you, Ashely, take Lexi Spencer, to be your lawful wedded wife in sickness and in health for as long as you shall live?"
"I do." Ashely replied, squeezing Lexi's hands. The priest smiled.
"You may kiss the bride." And they kissed. And everyone cheered. It was a great day.
~After the wedding~
"Well, today was eventful." Ottavia said with a smile, as she held a professional posture with her clutch purse in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other.
"Yeah. Today was a great day." Kara agreed as Luther, Connor, Markus, North, Josh, Simon, Ralph, Crystal, Rupert, Kolt, Anastasia, Savannah, Violet and Ottavia all stood in a circle talking about the wedding.
"It's so nice that you all came!" Ashley explained with a beaming smile walking over to her friends.
"You look beautiful, Ashley!" Violet complimented as Savannah nodded beside Violet drinking some blue blood. (side note: yeah, I decided to have drinkable blue blood at their wedding, cause why the heck not?!)
"Well, of course it looks nice, I made it after all." Lexi explained, hugging Ashley from behind by the waist and kissing her cheek.
"Really?" Ottavia asked impressed.
"Yup. Gotta a problem with that?" Lexi asked playfully glaring at Ottavia. It was always a joke to them now, they no longer had a hate-love relationship with each other, that all changed after the Second Revolution.
"Um... no. I was actually going to ask if you could fix one of my dresses for me?" Lexi smirked.
"Sure- for a price." Ottavia sighed and rolled her eyes at Lexi. Ashely then whispered something in her ear.
"Ugh! Alright! Ottavia, you can get it for free since it's our wedding day!" Lexi explained.
"Thank you!" Ottavia replied with her head slightly tipped towards Lexi in politeness. Crystal heard someone coming towards their group but didn't think anything of it.
"Ahem," the person coughed as everyone turned, it was Lexi's mother. "I... I just wanted to thank you for inviting us, and um... I'm sorry. You're... you're with friends. I think I'll just go." Lexi's mother stated quickly, too embarrassed to look them in the eye.
"Wait! Mom, don't go. What is it that you want to say? It's ok!" Lexi's mother hesitated and then turned to the androids in the circle.
"I... I'm sorry for what I've said about your people. I was stuck in my ways until I heard about the court hearing last year. With the abuse and all that. I didn't think about that. That you've all have suffered. I'm sorry. And um, thank you for inviting me, Lexi, and I... I hope that you're happy." Lexi's mother explained with tears glistening in her eyes as a soft smile grazed her lips, squeezing her daughter's hand before leaving the garden. Lexi let out a breath before turning to face everyone.
"Did you really invite her to the wedding?" Ottavia asked surprised.
"Well... Ashley did. She thought she'd change her ways. And... it looks like she did." Lexi said getting a little emotional as she hadn't talked to her mother since she left her house at 20 in 2038 (the day of the Android Revolt).
"I thought that, after everything, we should forgive and forget." Ashley explained. Violet then scoffed.
"You're too good for her."
"Yeah, she is. But she loves me anyway." Lexi replied, hugging her waist again and kissing her temple. Ottavia sighed.
"I can't wait to get married." She said absentmindedly leaning on Ralph's shoulder. He looked at her a little horrified.
"Ottavia wants to get married!"
"What?!" Ottavia shouted, popping her head up not realizing what she said, making everyone laugh. Crystal looked over at the kids across the garden as they played together smiling. Rupert put his arm around her waist and kissed her hair.
"You happy?" Crystal looked up at him and smiled.
"Yeah. I'm happy." Today was a great day. Crystal finally got the family she wanted and was surrounded by friends that cared for her. She was more than happy. She felt loved.
Author's Notes
Hey guys! The happy ending is done and Lexi and Ashley got married!!!
The original plan was to skip the actual wedding and go straight to after the ceremony, but remembering my English letter to my teacher I pointed out a flaw of mine in English is settling for 'good enough' instead of the best I can do. So, this is my best I believe!
This was originally the first ending that this book had hit I switched them around when I was editing because I felt like it was kind of cruel to end on a bad note so this chapter is the last one now :)
Thank you for reading <3
Bye!
